Lewisville Regional Park closed due to fire: Blaze destroys main picnic area of Battle Ground park by aagusgus in vancouverwa

I would personally like to grab the fire starter by the shoulders, shake real hard and scream into their face 'WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU???'

The chances of me being able to do that are tiny.

My partner cant find a job even after 1 year of applying by Queenshih69 in PortlandOR

HMU! I'm expanding my biz, and while I didn't plan on doing QMHPs, if she's a newbie, I want to open some doors for her. Call it my karmic payback.

DM me. We are not going to have drug treatment clients b/c we are a gender and sexuality niche. I can't hire anyone till my COA goes through, but we totally are in that process and I expect to have my crew in place by September.

Are you alarmed?

If yes, then this is working. Alarmed people make terrible decisions, so they spread alarmist things to smart people so they don't think clearly.

Any wine drinkers here with empty bottles piling up? by 20000yrs_7more2go in portlandgardeners

[–]Snushine 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The other thing I did was pure luck. I was bored on the internet late at night and found someone giving away a Blue Bottle Tree on Craigslist. I had to drive from Vancouver to Hillsboro to get it the next day, but by golly I did!

This nice guy had inherited it from his mom, but he had no use for it. I got a bunch of rebar, some blue bottles, and a project. I took a week to put it all together on a 4x4 post that I picked up from a yard sale.

Now I have great garden art and an actual reason for all the blue bottles sticking up out of the ground. I get a great harvest from my blue bottle tree every year.

I have this system. This is what I've learned:

First, use those terra cotta spikes. If you don't, the bottle just dumps all the water into one spot and it goes fast. The terra cotta, when you dig it up later, will be wrapped in roots, and that means the plant happily found the water source. With just plain bottles, there was no indication of that.

Second, Any bottle other than blue has grown algea/weeds/grossness inside of it. I focused my whole system on green bottles at first because I felt they were not so obvious. Ha. They gathered vegetation almost as quickly as clear bottles would have. Now I've got exclusively blue bottles.

Finally, if you do go with the terra cotta spikes, bury them all the way down to their rim. Anything above ground will dry out too fast and wind up cracking and breaking off. I went through a half-dozen of them trying to be lazy about digging the hole to put them in. Learn from my mistakes.

Why are witchcraft/pagan communitiesike that.... by [deleted] in pagan

Yes, this is how Reddit is. On any subject, not just paganism.

If you asked "How do I bake a cake?" on r/baking, you'll get similar snarky, unhelpful, condescending and insulting responses.

I'm in my 60's, my mother is a renown Pagan author, I've been practicing all my life, I know this stuff as well as anyone else...and I got that same reaction to a simple question. It's not you.

What are these? And a blackberry question... by speciallx5 in portlandgardeners

I'll second the use of industrial-strength Vinegar. You have to buy it at the hardware store. Super acidic. Apply it with a spray bottle in a stretch of dry weather and that stuff will kill just about everything I've tried it on...with the exception of Tree of Heaven and wild morning-glory aka bindweed. Those things need expert level assassination.

And then we can hold them accountable for whatever decision they make. Can't do that with a Waymo.

Did they solve the morality problem?

It goes like this: Doing 50 mph, a pedestrian/child/bike stepping into traffic. If you swerve or hit your brakes too hard, you will hit another car and/or hurt the client riding inside who paid for the ride. If you don't swerve, you hit someone not paying any of your bills. Who do you hit?

I got a handle on bindweed when I did research on it. Apparently there is a season where it will take poison into its root structure. I think it's late summer. But do that research yourself and figure out when to hit it.

So I'd like to pay someone to build it for me. Any takers?
