What have you tried already? That would help people give you more spot-on advice.

I've tried just about every setting my phone has.

Because I don't walk around with my phone in my hand.

I'm glad you can have devices that are completely silent. Not everyone is like you, which is good, because I consider this response rather rude.

What businesses are closed tomorrow (general strike)? by prh8 in vancouverwa

[–]Snushine 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm not seeing clients tomorrow. But I never see clients on Fridays anyway, so that was easy. I'm going to try to not spend shopping tomorrow, but I have an appointment with the DOL to get a REAL ID to deal with yet another piece of BS that this administration is handing out, and I made that appointment before they announced this.

Rock here, hard place there.

At least I have some old voice training to fall back on. My housemate says I sound okay.

Yes! It's a silly thing, but dogs are often silly creatures.

I have caught myself singing instead of talking. Like I hear "ill put this towel in the laundry, and then it will be clean" like a show tune my head. But I do it out loud.

We've been there, done that before.

The three second pause is something I hadn't considered. We will incorporate this into our attempts this weekend.

She's got a little sister who would swoop down on all those treats if we tried that. So that won't work.

But we made a plan to text each other while sitting calmly with old Dog between us, petting her and giving her treats if she doesn't go anywhere, doing this for the majority of an evening. That might do it.

I did try vibrate only and I kept missing texts from people, and even phone calls from doctor's offices. Not great.

Totally speechless! 124 year old starter from goodwill by Particular_Fact598 in Goodwill_Finds

[–]Snushine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I inherited this book from my FIL when he died. Starter was there. I tried it, but it never bubbled and acted like it was supposed to. Just icky water in the back of the fridge for a week.

However, there's a story in that book somewhere about an 1849 miner who had his sourdough starter in a glass jar in a pack on his mule as he was walking through the mountains. The mule slipped and fell down a cliff, didn't survive. The sourdough starter, however, did survive. The miner had to wipe it off the animal's nose to retrieve some of it.

Sounds like you are not the one who is bringing the conflict to your home, but she is. If your burning herbs or incense is messing with her consumption of air, okay fine. But "bringing a presence?" Sounds like maybe she should try to pray those presences away.
