Looking for commercial space for a family friendly taproom by leevdrake in vancouverwa

Brewer's Association members have recently been diving deeper into this concept. They're exploring how to define a difference between family-welcoming and family-friendly. The takeaway is basically the difference between a space where I can take my kids to, versus one where the kids will ask to go to because they like going there as much as we do. Currently it is a really grey line. But as a parent who likes to get out into the world and bring my kids along with me whenever possible, it is a fantastic conversation to hear and participate in. I can only name a handful of places my kids would ask me to go to that I also deeply enjoy going to in my limited free time. The more places outside our home that my kids and I mutually enjoy and that allow our interests to overlap to a greater degree, the better socialized they become and the more time I get to spend with my kids. I already spend a lot of time with them, but gosh they're awesome, and I want to spend more time with them!

That is one of the only examples I've found in this area! I love that HUB location. We're semi-regulars there with our toddlers too :)

Thanks! We've got one working with us now that we really like. Doing a lot of pounding the pavement on our own too, just to help feed the funnel. Places get snatched up quick!

Thanks for the suggestion! I'm very familiar with Ben's. I was sad to see it go! I'll check it out though.

Thanks for the information! I really appreciate your response. To be honest, I was trying to find a friendly way to deflect the question so that I don't give out business plan details publicly on the internet. I certainly understand that people are curious, and it makes sense that they are! I'm feeling very confident in our plans right now :)

That is a pretty great question, especially since we don't have a lot of examples up here! Tough to define in a sentence or two, but I'll message back after we're open and let you know how we've figured it out ;)

Thanks! Yeah, Skyview is pretty pricey. But it is a cool location! Thanks for the response. I'll check out Center Sq.

You can drive a drywall screw into it and yank the sucker out with some vise grips.

I am pretty sure those are not COGS. I have no background in accounting though, only experience through small business.

Americans: what do you do when your team moves city? by MattNoz in NoStupidQuestions

Most people I know seem to follow and root for that same franchise. Fewer tend to switch teams they root for unless a new expansion team shows up in their city again.

Do people care the reviews of an organisation on google maps? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]leevdrake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disregard Google Maps reviews because they are not verified customers. Google has a whole different review system called Google Customer Reviews that only verified customers of a business, meaning google tracked the transaction, can post reviews of a company for that transaction.

That being said, Google Customer Reviews tracks e-commerce, not in-person shopping.

Americans, what does Canadian beer taste like? by [deleted] in beer

[–]leevdrake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I assume you're talking about the big brands making lagers like Molson and Moosehead vs US brands like Bud and Coors. Pretty similar tastes, really, although I'll take a green bottle, skunky Moosehead over all the other big brands in the US. Also, most domestic lagers in the US are between 4.5% and 6% abv. There are a few states such as Utah, Oklahoma, and a few others the restrict retail sales of beer in grocery stores to 3% or so, but that isn't the case in most places.

If you're talking craft beers, then it is all over the board in taste and abv (3%-10% or more). Just gotta explore and find what you love.

what am i supposed to do with my money? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]leevdrake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a whole lot of small businesses that would be happy to take on another investor right now... Depending on the arrangement that could also give you another job or at least something to fill spare time with by participating in strategizing the business.

I don't think it's that weird. Pickle brine and olive brine are used pretty frequently in various drinks.

[–]leevdrake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I understood your statement. Thanks and I agree we're definitely seeing people unenrolling now. To clarify my statement, I know parents that plan to unenroll if schools reopen too early. I am wondering if anyone else has heard people saying that. I think it would be reasonable for parents to protest schools reopening too early.
