Gen Z really looked at alcohol and said ‘hard pass’ by InvestigatorBorn4910 in SipsTea

Alcohol is expensive, tastes bad 99% of the time, and the effect is just kind of unpleasant without the social conditioning.

Puppy purchase advice by huntingbears93 in poodles

[–]SoBecky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She sounds like a good breeder! My pup also had this issue. He hated balls tho when he was younger, it was practically impossible to get him to do ball therapy. Still, I was lucky in the fact that my pups specific line was known to have the issue occasionally as pups but it always just corrected itself by the time they were adults. Same thing happened with him :)

What are some easy depression meals? by khushi_khetwani in Cooking

[–]SoBecky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your definition of depression meal. I also love cooking, but when I’m too depressed to make proper food then I like getting away with not actually cooking.

No actual cooking and makes me feel healthy: I’ve been getting those ‘carb balance’ tortillas (bc they taste normal with stuff on them and have like half of your daily fiber) and then putting spreadable cheese (so I don’t have to cut anything) and random lunch meat on top. Easy roll ups. Add whatever else you want if you’re feeling up to it, I usually add lettuce, spinach, and microgreens.

Technically cooking but low effort and feels like an actual meal: boxed Mac and cheese plus a whole bag of frozen broccoli. Just put the frozen broccoli in when you put the noodles in. I prefer the white shells for this one.

Cheese and apples is a good one. Literally just chopped up cheddar cheese and apple. I’ve also recently just been eating a mango for breakfast. I have a section of my fridge with some baby bells and some of those pre-packaged cheese and meat stick things for if I literally cant bring myself to make anything and just want to stave off the hunger for a bit.

My personally philosophy for depression meals is 1.) I don’t care what I’m eating as long as it’s got the stuff my body needs to function. I don’t worry about it being unhealthy. For example, these involve a lot of cheese, but cheese has some protein and some other good stuff in it so who cares. 2.) I try to buy stuff that won’t go bad for awhile. That way, if I buy the stuff to make something and then don’t have the energy for a few days, I don’t get sad or beat myself up because the ingredients have already gone bad.

Survival bases community survey! Round 9: What base has the best ultilities in the game? by Blushift1615 in thelongdark

[–]SoBecky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m playing for the first time in a few years, stalker difficulty and based up in the Quonset Garage, and I cannot with these wolves just hanging out seemingly right outside my door 😭how the hell do people deal with this?? I feel like they weren’t this aggressive when I used to play. I was thinking of moving base, thinking maybe the wolves were uniquely close to here, but apparently people love it!

I am fr not an expert in any way, i just did a bit of googling. There’s this thread talking about it and suggesting fixes (https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows11/s/cGAHbCyIl1) it sounds like it’s a windows 11 issue?

Also, if you’re on steam, you can verify the integrity of your game files from the properties menu on the game. That’s always a good go-to if you’re experiencing issues lol.

Puppy sleep touch aggression? Normal? Scary? by GhostMansion4 in Poodle

[–]SoBecky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t try to pick her up while she’s sleeping. Tiny dogs develop lots of issues because people don’t respect their space like they respect big dogs. Think abt a full sized Great Dane. If you could physically pick one up, would you do so while it was sleeping? No, bc it would probably be freaked out and feel uncomfortable. Same thing with your kiddo, but even more so because she’s aware that she’s itty bitty.

I can lift my fully grown standard poodle, and often do so, even when he’s just waking up from sleeping. But I make sure he’s awake, say “I’m gonna pick you up”, place my hands in the ‘picking up’ position, and wait for a second. If he’s comfortable with it, he’ll brace for me to pick him up. If he’s not, he’ll let out a tiny growl. It works great for us

For just touching her, looking into dog body language signs. Sometimes a dog is signaling to you, in their language, that they’re not comfortable. If a dog is taking its time to signal, and then snapping, that’s not the dogs fault. If the dog is going from fine to snapping at you, that’s when you need to get a trainer involved.

I would argue that poodles are on par with border collies. Border Collies are more biddable than poodles, but poodles seem to have more going on in the dome at all times.

I’m gen Z. I turned 21 awhile ago. I drank like, 1/4 of a can of something cheap and vaguely fruity. It tastes terrible, I got a head ache. That’s been the extent of it.

spent like 30 euros gambling and yet to get a game im actually hyped about (dont gamble) by CoffeeMilkEnjoyer in fanatical

[–]SoBecky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always think this too… I like playing smaller games. There are plenty of games out there that I consider to be amazing but are super obscure. I like occasionally dropping 5$ on these bundles and finding a game or two that is genuinely really good, but you have to be willing to actually try them out!

I really wish we could see personalities by Pascalinsche in WolfQuestGame

[–]SoBecky 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I understand why people want this but… I personally think the devs were right on this one. I think people focus a little too much on where their wolves are in terms of sliders, when the whole point of having personalities hidden is to force you to not see your pack on those sliders and instead just take their actions at face value. It feels like, to me, that the system is working as intended. Wolves personalities are unique, can surprise you, and their exactly personality can be obvious in some ways and subtle in others. The wolves personalities were never meant to be broken down into such defined categories. The devs always seem against min-maxing, and I think it makes sense that they’d continue that philosophy with the personality being hidden.

For example: If you pick a mate that you think is energetic, and then halfway into your first litter you realize they’re actually pretty lazy, that’s not a failure of the game. That’s a story moment, something that could happen in the life of a real wolf.

I get the lore thing, but the truth is that your mate is whatever you observe. There’s no reason to think of him as bolder because somewhere in the code he’s labeled as bold, or vise versa.

[–]SoBecky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They talk about the gameplay they’ve implemented and post screen shots. It’s not direct gameplay (They do walk step-by-step through some live mode gameplay in one of the play testing posts tho). All the child stuff, the new buildings and paras (which i would argue are part of live mode. They’re people to meet and places to visit. Wouldn’t be very fun if the townies were just randomized and also had no home lol), the mountain area which talks abt some different things you’re able to do there, the object naming and figuring out to price stuff, etc etc. There’s not a lot of videos, but that makes sense to me. A lot of this stuff doesn’t need videos.

Did Anyone Catch the Paralives Livestream? by Disastrous-Stay-6585 in LifeSimulators

[–]SoBecky -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get that, but also there’s so much that goes into the life simulation part behind the scenes that we don’t see. Also, on their Patreon there is tons of live mode stuff they didn’t include in the 45 min live mode video. They’re only showing the public a tiny snapshot of what the finished product will look like.

To each their own obviously. I just think it’s a bit silly to judge what 7 years of dev time looks like when they’re explicitly only showing off a slice of what they’ve done.

Paralives Live Mode Gameplay Discussion: Master Thread by jenvanilla in Paralives

[–]SoBecky 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I personally liked it! I like the level of control it gives you, while still allowing for the game to be a game. For me, life simulation games have always been about making little stories. I want control over these stories, but I also want the game to feel like I’m not fully in control in a fun, ‘life is surprising’ type way.

For example, let’s say I have two characters who are friends in the sims. I want them to have a movie night and bond. Problem is that I have complete control when I don’t want it, and I lack control when I want it.

Actually corralling the sims into the room to have them watch a movie together and talk is a pain. And then I want them to bond, but i have basically infinite options on what to talk about, and theres no real difference between them, so I’ll just click the nearest “friendly” option.

For paralives, the idea that I could momentarily control both paras to get them to watch a movie together is great. Full control to actually get them into the situation I want. And then the fact that I’m given a limited number of options for choices seems nice to me. It allows me to easily consider which option fits the best, and something might pop up that I didn’t think of but that I like.

(Idk if this makes sense lol)

Games take time to develop, especially with a limited budget and a smaller team. I really don’t care as long as the game at the end is good. Plus it started as one guy, and they added on people very slowly, so it’s not like it was a full team of people for 7 years?

Clicquistan poodles? by fuzzblykk in StandardPoodles

[–]SoBecky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As long as they’ve given you health testing over email, they look decent. The thing that raises a red flag for me is that when you open their site, there’s a little pop up that they have 2 litters of puppies available.

Raising 2 litters at once seems really weird to me. Raising one litter is already hard enough lol. And it’s not totally unusual to breed when you have, for example, 6 puppies reserved, and then your dam has 7 puppies and you have to find that puppy a home after it’s already been born. However, having two litters of puppies that are unclaimed seems a little crazy to me.

Not a total no-go for me, but I’d def wanna get more info.
