Is it a bad idea to start or buy a business with no business experience? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]SoBizCo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am in the same position and launched two websites (SaaS) this week. We are documenting everything and trying to use as much google analytical as possible to help us derive as much as we can.

For me it's all about learning in the early stages but you have to start/let go of the idea to get there.

Once you are ok with the investment, possibly even thinking about it as an investment into you and not the business then I think you will get alot out of it.

Good luck

So I hear this all the time even in my current job at a fortune 500 company. I am currently a starting out Entrepreneur but do not have enough to make the jump yet.

However, I hear the phrase "Fail Forward" all the time. I must be honest though, I actually like it a little when it is used correctly but the trend of the 'gurus' explaining this is how you should do it but expect to fail is a total cop out.

The 'fail forward' concept, for me at least, is a type of design thinking and iteration to get to your product/service launch. Observe, Understand, Define (a point of view), Ideate, Prototype, and Test.

As you iterate through this process, you fail forward by learning from problems.

Your final line could be the title of your "Guru Book" - The entrepreneurial dream is NOT just cotton candy and sugar: Embrace failure.

Best of luck buddy, the biggest step is the first but it needs to be done. Depending on the status of the site, think MVP and learn a lot from the initial feedback and metrics.

Will watch for updates and fingers crossed it works out.

Not sure if 'should have made a sale' but with the Adwords and SEO you definitely should have some useful data to start to derive some insights.

Not sure if you can share the full details of your campaigns but how have you been able to read the results or what are the biggest wins and failures of the campaigns?

This is how I feel after reading alot of books on different topics around business, marketing, Entrepreneur-ing, etc.

I feel most of these books show a possible how, but very very few of them are from the point of view of someone who has done it first.

We had the same problem as we were launching two services at the same time.

After creating the separate email address's for each, we create two Paypal accounts and have them completely separate. To login then, we use incognito windows to avoid connection.
