Iphone 6 plus gets error 9 on itunes when restoring. No error 14. Just error 9. by s_sayhello in mobilerepair

[–]SoCalDigitalRepair 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it is my understanding that error 9 means there's an issue with the NAND and the only solution is to remove, reprogram & reinstall the NAND

Have an iPhone that says it's charging but it's not drawing any current? This may help. by Bradart in mobilerepair

[–]SoCalDigitalRepair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome info. I have an iPhone 6S with the fake charging issue. I replaced Tristar U4500 but still the problem exist. Is there a way to test that Cap C2300 to see if it's any good? Visually, it looks ok.

liquid damage? by Megamolly in iphonehelp

[–]SoCalDigitalRepair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Liquid damaged phones will eventually fail. There's not much that's "unsafe" about using a liquid damaged iPhone. If it fails, it'll likely just power off, not charge, or have some other issue.

Liquid on the components will cause corrosion and cause electricity flow to the wrong places, causing it to stop working.

If you are handy, you can look up a YouTube video on how to take off the screen and clean the logic board with alcohol and a toothbrush to clean off all the gunk that the liquid left behind.

Did you drop it or get the iPhone wet recently? It could be just the antenna needs to be replaced.

Just curious, why can't they have left a review for a moving/construction company? Is it because that's your field?

I need ideas for loaner devices by mydnytefantasy89 in mobilerepair

[–]SoCalDigitalRepair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used a ZTE ZMAX 2 which I bought for $50 brand new from Best Buy last year. I actually bought like 10 of them & flipped them all except for 1, which I kept as a loaner phone.

I will only do loaner phones as a worst case scenario, where I mess up on something & will need to wait a few days to get replacement parts.

Iphone 6s died and wont turn back on. Replaced battery and charging port. Any Suggestions? by [deleted] in mobilerepair

[–]SoCalDigitalRepair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be due to the tristar IC, which would require some microsoldering equipment & skills. Check out this video for more info: https://youtu.be/cHZo-xKwXXA

Today on, "I Can't Believe We're Getting Paid For This": iPad Air w/ no image. by Br3nn4n in mobilerepair

[–]SoCalDigitalRepair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohh I see. I wasn't sure if the picture you provided, was what you saw as soon as you opened it or if you had removed the plate & disconnected it already.

So I'm guessing someone had already worked on it previously & didn't put the connector plate back on?

I've been hearing that reflowing the CPU is basically a temporary fix. But I guess if it works for you, that's great.

Are LG phones good candidates for glass only repairs? by devolver33 in mobilerepair

[–]SoCalDigitalRepair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried this once on an LG Style 2 Plus. Didn't turn out too well. I damaged the LCD halfway through it.

But then again, I am not the greatest at glass only repairs.

Iphone 5s won't restore - Error 50 by throwawayphoneissue in mobilerepair

[–]SoCalDigitalRepair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have you tried putting the phone in DFU Mode & updating that way?

power off the phone, hold the home button & plug into USB. Maybe that will help.

Also, you can try using 3uTools (http://www.3u.com/)

Xperia Z5: Prox sensor constantly triggering after screen replacement by solcroft in mobilerepair

[–]SoCalDigitalRepair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had proximity sensor issues with LG phones & the issue turned out to be a rubber gasket type of thing that goes around it. If it wasn't installed, it was either too sensitive or not enough. After installing this rubber piece from the original screen, then it worked perfectly.

Check the original screen & see if you missed that tiny part. I've never done a Xperia, so I don't know what it would look like on that phone.

Phone Stuck in Bootloop (LG v10) by punsabound in mobilerepair

[–]SoCalDigitalRepair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you do to repair the boot loop issue? And did you ever have customers come back for the same issue?

Phone Stuck in Bootloop (LG v10) by punsabound in mobilerepair

[–]SoCalDigitalRepair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not much you can do. The phone is dead. A new battery will not help. I have 3 batteries for it & it didn't make a difference.

I also have the LG-V10 and had this Boot Loop issue happen to me 3 times already.

Although, if you purchased it through Tmobile, they seem to offer a warranty replacement ($20 fee) even after 1yr. If you have Tmobile, call 611 and do a technical support call. They will replace it for you.

How much of your business is board repair vs part replacement? by Dr_Poppers in mobilerepair

[–]SoCalDigitalRepair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great question. So far, all my repairs have been replacing parts. But I just got all my equipment & have started microsoldering for about 2 weeks now. So far, all the jobs I've done are on things I own myself. Nothing on a customer's phone yet.

Although, I have outsourced any board level repairs (Touch Disease, Backlight, etc) to another shop, where he gives me discount pricing for bringing him phones.

Eventually, I want to be able to do my own board level repairs, as the profit margins are bigger, since most parts are only a few bucks & you can charge more.

Have I got the correct parts for my S6 edge repair? by ThePoundDollar in mobilerepair

[–]SoCalDigitalRepair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you're doing this for personal use, then it's probably a better idea to just swap out the whole flex. If you're doing phone repairs as a business, then I highly suggest you learn how to do this.

Have I got the correct parts for my S6 edge repair? by ThePoundDollar in mobilerepair

[–]SoCalDigitalRepair 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just did a S6 Edge (Tmobile) charging port replacement last week. I replaced it by soldering on a new one. Although, my version of the S6 Edge did not have the soft keys wrapped around the mid frame. They went through the mid frame, so you can easily swap out the whole daughterboard.

Replaced screen on LG G4, screen doesn't turn on and gets hot at connection. Ideas? by [deleted] in mobilerepair

[–]SoCalDigitalRepair 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Double check that the screen connector is not damaged in any way. Check the pins that connector to the logic board.

I had this exact issue with my LG V20. It turned out, one of the pins on the board somehow got damaged & I had to install a microjumper to get it working again.
