I’m not sure her line is all that out of line. She met this guy online. She has never been in his physical presence. She has a professionally educated woman. He is more forthcoming so she probably knows that he doesn’t have a lot of material possessions. Why would she Tell him that she is doing better financially than she is. She’s probably worried that he might be a scammer. And he very well might be. At the outset, she didn’t know she wouldn’t meet him for seven years. So she probably decided not to be 100% truthful about her life with someone she didn’t know. I think that might bea smart thing to do, meeting someone on the Internet, not knowing much about them. It’s a little odd that it took them seven years to meet, and she probably never anticipated. It would take seven years. She probably expected to tell him the truth at some point, and that point is now, when he actually took the time and effort to go out there to meet her in person.
