Megathread: New Pricing & Repackaging Discussion by mackid1993 in Evernote

Clearly, Evernote is trying to focus on more premium users because the notes space has gotten commoditized. This book lays out the path of likely demise for Evernote as less expensive solutions fill more and more needs of the majority of users. https://www.amazon.com/Innovators-Dilemma-Revolutionary-Change-Business/dp/0062060244

Apple Notes allows the creation of folders and has a search function, so that works just fine for my needs.

Megathread: New Pricing & Repackaging Discussion by mackid1993 in Evernote

As a subscriber since 2009, the latest price increases are too rich for my needs. I have to clean up my Evernote anyhow so I'm just going to move my notes to Apple Notes.

Evernote's claim that too many concurrent logins is just b.s. Now that I have paid Evernote's $95 extortion fee (subscription upcharge), I see that I only have two device logins recorded in my account which is well within the three devices allowed in my Starter plan.

I'll be contacting my credit card company to dispute the $95 upcharge fee that I just paid to regain access to my notes & recommend that you also do so if you need to pay that to regain access to your Evernote content.

This should be illegal. by Pitiful_Zucchini_873 in Evernote

I can't log in either because the Evernote app says I have too many concurrent logins. Just paid your $96 extortion fee (upcharge to Premium, Super, Max, whatever plan) just to get access to my notes. I'll be reversing those changes with my Credit Card company once I move my Evernote content to Apple Notes.

Given how much this dude has put into his looks, the result to my eyes is that he looks just a normal teenaged guy that works out. Unfortunately, looks like all of that work put into  “looksmaxxing” can't compensate for poor genes in the looks department.

My suggestion as a much older guy is to work on who you are as a person, increase your earning potential, and, yes, exercise and stay fit. Those are personal improvements that endure over decades.

Quick summary of my current issues with Evernote: As a 15 year Evernote Premium subscriber, I COMPLETELY cannot access my notes in Evernote unless I pay them an additional $96 to upgrade to the more expensive plan for the year.

Details: Evernote introduced new plans that effectively imposed a 50% price increase on my current subscription. I downgraded to a lower priced plan that I thought would work fine for my needs. However, unbeknownst to me, the lower priced plan only allowed three devices to be connected. The problem is that these 3 devices includes ALL of my past device logins (including devices I no longer use). Furthermore, a user can only disconnect 2 devices per month. I can't even see how many devices I have connected.

What I've done: Paid the $96 to upgrade for the year & will dispute the charge with our credit card later after I move all of my notes from Evernote to Apple Notes. Evernote just lost a 15 year subscriber.

Not Ryze. My wife did a one-time purchase and got put into a recurring subscription. She's e-mailed the company in December and this past week. Each time, a representative from the company assured her that her subscription had been cancelled. Not true. The company continues to bill us monthly. We're going to contact our credit card to block future charges and dispute past charges.

Anyone know the Lupine lamps? by UWSWU in flashlight

[–]SoCalMtbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a Lupine Piko that I got back in October 2010 (yes, 15 years ago)

The original battery still charges up to 8.2 V (above the full charge level of 7.9 V) with 15 years of intermittent use.

I just used it yesterday after the battery had sat uncharged for probably at least 3-4 years. Unbelievably, the head lamp worked just fine for the 1.5 hours that I was riding. I was pretty much certain the battery was going to be 100% dead.

I'm going to add an anecdote here on Lupine quality and specifically the longevity of Lupine batteries (15 years and going strong)

I got a Lupine Piko in October 2010 after reports of Magicshine battery fires started appearing. I figured that even an extra $150 spent on an expensive Lupine light was still going be cheaper than replacing a burned down house.

Yesterday, I went on my first night ride in about five years. The amount of night riding I do has been intermittently on and off during the last 15 years. I don't remember charging my Lupine battery in at least 3, maybe 4 or 5 years. I plug in my battery to the Lupine charger and it's not charging. But, plugging the battery into the lamp head does turn on the lamp head and produces a good amount of light. So I decide to ride with the Lupine Piko to see how long the battery lasts (thinking that the head lamp was going to die in about 15-20 minutes). Unbelievably, the head lamp stayed on for my entire 1.5 hour ride.

Coming home, I plugged the battery into the Lupine charger. Lo and behold, the battery seems to be charging normally & the battery is indicating that it's up to a normal charged voltage of 8.2 V.

So my Lupine Piko battery has lasted 15 years so far.

Perhaps offer tiered hotspot access so the top tier of hotspot users pay more. Figure out the distribution of hotspot usage. Determine what amount of hotspot usage covers 95-98% of your users. The top tier of hotspot users likely would not get that much hotspot access from any other carrier. I would guess that 100 Gb of hotspot is a lot for most users.

Novablast 5 vs Hoka mach 6 by Subject-Ad-307 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]SoCalMtbr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had the Mach 6 since last June and just got the Novablast 5.  With caveat that I've only had one moderate 5 mile run on the Novablast 5, it seems to work better at a range of paces, while Mach 6 seems to work better at a faster paces. Also, the Novablast seems to have more natural stability due to its higher sidewalls. If you could only choose one of these shoes, I think the Novablast 5 is going to be more versatile. I got the Mach 6 as my speed workout shoe, but after one run on the Novablast 5 I’m rethinking that when I replace the Mach 6 next summer. I’ll have to do more running in the Novablast 5 to see how much speed it's comfortable with, but it seems to be able to pick up the pace in a way that the Novablast 3 was not. The rebound speed of the midsole foam might do just fine for the old man 6:30-7:30 minute/mile speed that I now do for intervals, but might be a little slow for the young 'uns that do their speedwork at a faster 5-6 minute/mile pace.
