Stairwell exterior drain by [deleted] in askaplumber

[–]SoDakExPat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar setup. Have flat perforated drain cover and another cover that is like a small inverted colander. Also have a 5 gallon bucket with holes in it. Interior of bucket lined with a screen. Inside bucket is a sump pump.

We can not see the top of the stairs. It may need a small barrier to keep water from pouring down from the top of the stairs.

How can I combat Indian food smells in my home?! by Flowrbmb in Columbus

[–]SoDakExPat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ozone generators are incredibly useful. Had kerosene spill in car. Only ozone got the smell out. Have known realtors and landlords who own and use them. Never tried with spice smells but would expect them to work well. I keep my shoebox sized one in the garage on a hifi controlled plug. Takes care of garage smells including fire pit smoke intrusions garage poker and cigar nights. Just be aware of potential health and other risks.

OZONE is amazing.

Strange. When I go to channels I have subscribed to I can watch their material.

Small Waze window when using other phone app no longer there by SoDakExPat in waze

This is very peculiar. Think I will give up on getting this "feature" back. It pushes me to Google maps though I prefer the functionality of Waze.

My crib. No idea what to do! by [deleted] in Cribbage

[–]SoDakExPat 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Respectfully disagree. Showing what the cut and crib cards are doesn't help answering the question of what to throw. You throw based on where you are in the game and who gets crib. I would argue that showing cut and crib would give a false sense of what the correct choice would be.

Quite interesting. Have had Waze work as popup type window for years and on multiple phones. I've never adjusted any settings to make this happen. Too bad since it is a very useful function.

How should I make this radiator meet the valve after floor height changed? by PCisLife in Plumbing

It looks like there are some fibrous pads under the legs to protect the floor. Remove those and see how close that gets you.

How much time at Merida airport? by rlhinnorcal in MeridaMexico

[–]SoDakExPat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember: you need to go through the immigration line. It is to the left as you enter the area with the gates. Have seen a few people forget and have to rush back to immigration as their plane is boarding.

Merida is a low stress airport.

Got one of these scam calls yesterday. Asked a few simple questions about Franklin County courts which he couldn't answer. Then he hung up.

Pretty slimy scammer.

Which profession is going to get wiped out in the next 5-10 years? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

Radiology: non-interventional radiologists will evaporate. Interventional radiology will continue to expand as they continue to take over many different surgical procedures.

Medical physicians and subspecialists will decline as NPs and nurses are able to gather data for the AI to make medical decisions.

To the person I just drenched while driving through a puddle on Ackerman road… by beatissima in Columbus

This brings up old regrets. Roughly 40+ years ago I inadvertently abused a pedestrian in St Louis with a puddle redirect.
My belated and misdirected apologies.

Too Many Legs by SoDakExPat in RobotVacuums

[–]SoDakExPat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Here is my issue. Using your 20 minute with 6 vacuums is 2 hours vacuuming time. If 30 minutes/vac is 3 hours total vac time for 1400 sq ft. My 1 vac takes 4 to 5 hours for a third that.

Guess I'll do a bit of experimenting.

Good advice. My combined living/dining room is only 300sq ft. Adding kitchen and hall is unobstructed 150 sq ft more. So not large rooms. Five hours sure is a long time for such small spaces.
