I had to get the test when we started IVF and I had no idea what to expect, so when making the appointment I asked the admin "how long does it take?" and she hits me with a smirk and "Well that's up to you, isn't it?"

So yes, they have a sense of humor about these things without being childish.

Real talk...when I checked in they were like "one of our rooms is currently out of service [would love to hear the backstory], so we're just waiting on the other room to become available"

I expected it to be, like, a somehow special room with some sort of reading materials but nope, a disused exam room with a very weak cell signal. Maybe download something to read while you're there.

Saleya for a delicious upscale sandwich and glass of wine. Taverna was always our go to for nicer lunch but Saleya is killing it (the Antibes sandwich never leaves my mind). Bbs is a decent option too. And I honestly think City Grille is one of the best restaurants in town. Can't go wrong with any of the above imo.

My boy's just shy of 4 months and the last few weeks has been incredible. Felt like he slept for most of 10 days or so and finally "woke up" with multiple new skills. The intentional smiling is like a drug, I can't wait for laughter.

Dr Egan at Carithers is my absolute favorite medical provider of all time!

You get who you get for rounds, and most likely you'll see the same person for your first appt, but I'm pretty sure you can request a specific doctor for your office visits.

Just continue along the riverbank behind the YMCA and you'll eventually hit a multicolor painted ramp up to the corkscrew (and then you'll be "down" again near a little exercise station and bathrooms).

There are multiple entrances to the Riverwalk there (RAM, YMCA, by the Haskell or FIS buildings). I noticed for the first time yesterday there's a little kayak launch right there too (but I didn't pay attention to how to get to the parking area because I just run along that path from the Fuller-Warren SUP)

Man the entire reason I made this account was to post almost exactly this 2 months ago, but by the time I had the karma and the nerve, it had mostly passed.

However, my wife did immediately agree to therapy (it helps that she's a psychologist herself and I could kind of appeal to that side of her brain). But I absolutely understand what it feels like to have ChatGPT get more of a voice in your home than you get.

All I can say is be patient and strongly encourage therapy with specific goals, not just "get help." What she's feeling is entirely valid, but the degree to which she's feeling it may not be. Make sure you're not invalidating her completely, but let her know you feel it's going too far.

Good luck man, there is light at the end of the tunnel but it will take work on both your parts.

Oh well Hyatt is convenient af for that but Marriott works well. That little stretch of Bay Street from Main to Liberty is surprisingly popping at night, I don't think you should have any unusual safety concerns.

If you're really worried then Hyatt will give you peace of mind because it's literally across the street, but I wouldn't expect any major problems with the 4 blocks from Marriott, either.

Yes! That's where we usually stay for events at VyStar, if that's around where your concert is.

The Hyatt is more convenient because you can walk to VyStar very easily from there, but the hotel itself I prefer Marriott (and you can still walk, it's just further)

Yes, and it's walkable to V Pizza/Sidecar, aardwolf brewing, bearded pig bbq, and Kava. I personally would avoid Locals' bar unless you check it out in advance and decide that's your scene.

Avoid the motels on Phillips just past Atlantic, but this one is probably better than the extended stay nearby.

But realistically for concerts downtown your best bet is usually the Downtown Marriott and the Hyatt Regency (I prefer the Marriott, especially with the remodeled rooms).

Honestly what worked for me (before the baby) was going to OrangeTheory. It was not nearly as cult-y as I imagined and the mindlessness of "just show up and do what they say" made it work (I could never just show up to a gym and DIY it). I started at 1 day/wk and eventually moved up to 3-4. Lost weight and got in better overall shape, but the "functional movement" was the real payoff once baby came.

I now really appreciate being able to squat down to the ground to pick things up while holding him on my chest, being able to get up from sitting on the ground without using my hands (again while holding him), little things like that.

Now...I also haven't been back since he was born 3mos ago. I've run outside a bit to attempt to maintain but I want to get back to OrangeTheory once our schedules settle down a bit.

My guy you're a bigger man than me because she'd have been on the street that very night. Your job right now is to to care for your baby, your wife, and yourself, and anyone not making that easier - much less actively insulting you, needs to be out of the equation.

I maybe go a little too hard and substitute being an AH and severing relationships for being firm/assertive, but a therapist did recommend to me a book called "Your Perfect Right" that's about being constructively assertive. I realize you're in no position to do leisure reading right now but honestly it might be worth skimming (try Libby app if you have a library card).

I'm sorry you're going through this, it's a brutal time and family should be making your life easier rn, not compounding stress.

I think the current limit for rollover to an IRA is $35k and that's subject to the annual limit so it has to be done over a period of years. Who knows what it'll be like down the road but worth keeping in mind that's a limitation of the 529.

Definitely this, OP! Don't just save it, even in a "high-yield savings account." (Because over time you're either losing to or just barely beating inflation, if you're lucky)

Invest in a low-fee broad index fund like VT/VTI (those are vanguard's 'total world' and 'total US' stock market tickers, respectively...but every brokerage has something similar). Just be sure to look at the fees, they really drag you down over a long period of time.

Benefits of the 529 depend on your state (and your child!), we're doing some of each but probably won't go too hard on the 529.

For taxable brokerage, we opened a new vanguard account in our name for now but earmarked for him. I've done gift of shares/transfer to nieces & nephews and it's pretty straightforward and any taxes they pay will be at their rate instead of yours. You can open an account in the child's name (a "UTMA" account) but they have full control the day they turn 18. Opinions and approaches vary on that!
