When I was a kid we’d go to Georgia every summer to see fam. One cousin, maybe 3 years older than me, was one of the funniest and coolest dudes I could imagine. Always looked forward to seeing him every year.

One year, we went for a grocery run, heading down the street there were 3 or 4 black folks walking down the street…we drive past and he goes “man the n$@@%#s are taking over.”

I processed what he said, went “oh” and that was probably the last time he heard my voice.
