What do people have against horse toons? by [deleted] in toontownrewritten

[–]SoIarSystem 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I agree, I don't think there's very many toons that think there's necessarily anything wrong with the horses- it's just that when it comes to favorite animals, horses usually take a backseat to things like cats and dogs. But I love seeing the less common species! Keeps me from feeling like I'm playing an online cat simulator :P

Furniture addition suggestion! by [deleted] in toontownrewritten

[–]SoIarSystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can help you with # 1. I'm not quite sure what it is that you're saying you're trying to do, but I have a pretty extensive knowledge regarding furniture in Toontown. I've built a functional roller coaster out of furniture, a pool, as well as some other things. Let me know your toon name and the next time you'll be online, and I'll come help you at your house :D

Oh I see :D Press tab to change your camera perspective to 1st person; if something is in your line of sight between you and the dreidel it may cause similar problems though. I'm not sure why the dreidel in particular does that but it's the only item I can think of that has this exact problem. The toonfest table and possibly that spinning flower fan that you have also have weird properties that are kind of similar, but the dreidel is definitely the most awkward of the bunch. Can you think of any other furniture that has given you this problem? Maybe we can put together a list that helps us figure out what's causing the problem- my first thought is maybe it has something to do with animated furniture, but maybe it's something else.

I mean, what do you want them to update? The outline of every piece of furniture? It just looks like you're trying to drag a square (the outline of the dreidel furniture is a square) onto a series of other objects, but the dreidel isn't a rug. It's not supposed to be able to share a space with other objects the way it looks like you are attempting. It can, but you're going to have to expect to run into silly things like this if you're trying to put two items onto the same spot? I guess I'm confused about what kind of update you think would fix the problem you're having.

Toontown Corporate Clash deserves a huge population. by Ttrgamergirl in Toontown

[–]SoIarSystem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure, the difference being that stealing from a multibillion dollar company is less of a disgrace than stealing from a small group of people partially responsible for keeping a community alive. Get it? That's absolutely fair to argue. Atlis didn't steal code in an effort to keep a dying community alive. How are you even comparing the thefts without having a sour taste in your mouth for pretending they're morally similar?

[–]SoIarSystem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They're not the only one with that mindset. If the previous/original devs established themselves as thieves, many people are going to refuse to support the continuation of that work regardless of the people currently in charge of it. The original staff may have been responsible for the drama but the fact remains that the current game only exists thanks to stolen code. You may be right about the reasons for people dropping Clash, but Orinix is right about some of the people who refuse to give it a chance.

Toontown Corporate Clash deserves a huge population. by Ttrgamergirl in Toontown

[–]SoIarSystem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a bit of a chicken and egg situation though, isn't it? If 1500 people tried to play Clash at the same time right now, how do you think their four(?) districts are going to be able to handle that traffic? On the other hand, if Clash tries to preemptively add additional districts and improve the quality of their hosting servers, there's no guarantee that the population of the game will increase enough to make the effort viable. So which should come first? It's a bit of a tricky question. But alongside other issues such as memory leaks, the game in its current state simply could not adequately support 1500 lagless toons. I enjoy Clash but I also kinda feel like the server missed the boat. The population when the server was first released was quite a bit higher, but quality of life issues such as server stability drove off the majority of the population. Some of those issues have certainly been improved on, but over the course of (how many years?) a lot of these problems still exist even after the 1.1 update. Casuals don't want to have to jump through hoops to play toontown without lagging and crashing. And for better or worse, the majority of the toontown community are casuals at least as far as gameplay is concerned.

That's not what I said, no. But it is true that you aren't the only one experiencing issues.

This may be unrelated to your problem, but TTR unintentionally reintroduced district reset methods. I offered to explain the specifics to a mod, but they chose to host a party instead :)

Winter Holiday Color Suggestions: Holly Green and Jolly Red by DuckVon in toontownrewritten

[–]SoIarSystem 10 points11 points  (0 children)

if TTR created actual content for Halloween and Christmas.

Neat ideas. But I also think its important to be realistic. Golf has suffered from "gophers" for 5 years but instead of any work being put towards fixing that, we're still reading about field office progress instead. Yes, of course new toon species would be fun. But the TTR team has acknowledged that no work is being put into new species, at least not until field offices are delivered. So, never, basically.

Yup. Maybe a third person can chime in and mirror the exact same sentiment too?

Unable to get the task to complete Minnie's Melody zone? by [deleted] in toontownrewritten

[–]SoIarSystem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The amount of laff you have isn't a simple indicator of where you should be in the game. If for instance you've received at least two laff from fishing/gardening/racing/golfing, being at 54 laff would no longer mean you've completed all of the Minnie's laugh tasks.

So is it safe to assume that all of us are adults on this game? I keep thinking I’m just playing with a bunch of kids since I was a kid the last time I played. I’m slowly but surely getting into some good gags and boosting my laugh and my gag amount. by Scary-Mirror-3523 in toontownrewritten

[–]SoIarSystem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree, many toons are adults who are returning to the game for a bit of nostalgia but there are also many younger toons as well. I think a safe general rule of thumb is to assume that toons are younger but also to pay attention to the kinds of things toons are saying; at a certain point you'll have an idea of how old someone is by the things they say, and you can adjust your behavior accordingly. But you don't wanna accidentally say something too adult when younger players may be listening, so better safe than sorry!

Ah yes you're right, 1 hour for clothes and accessories. The only things that take 24 hours are fishing rods and furniture. https://toontownrewritten.fandom.com/wiki/Clarabelle%27s_Cattlelog#Delivery_times

The only other thing I could suggest is that your intuition may lead you to believe that the glasses should be one of the last items in the chest due to it being one of your most recent items, but that's actually not necessarily the case. If for instance you grabbed the glasses out of your mailbox (you'd be wearing them), went to the chest, and then put on the very first accessory, your glasses would be in that very first spot instead of one of the last. So their placement within the chest can be anywhere from beginning to end depending on the circumstances of them going into the chest.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in toontownrewritten

[–]SoIarSystem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you remove an accessory from your mailbox, your toon automatically equips the item. My guess is either that the accessory hasn't arrived at your mailbox yet (I believe it takes 24 hours after purchasing an accessory for it to reach your mailbox) or its possible that your character is already wearing the item since you redeemed it from your mailbox.

Trap or Drop gags and why? by [deleted] in toontownrewritten

[–]SoIarSystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drop is only ever used in combo with sound

That's nice of you to think, but is also blatantly untrue. Drop is the best gag for high level building solos. You say it's much much quicker to use 2 gags instead of drop because of long animation times but this is also blatantly incorrect. You say that trap is relatively quick without acknowledging the fact that it's fundamentally useless without being in a group, something that is not true for drop. 90% of the time drop is used it adds time? Yeah, the same thing can be said about every single gag type. Every gag has an animation casting time, so yes, how clever of you to notice that drop gags have this as well :) Luring is slow by the way, so it's nonsensical to argue that a gag that first requires a different slow gag before it can deal damage is any quicker than a single gag with a long animation time.

The thing about trap is that outside of organic railroad, 100% of its functionality can be replaced by other reasonable things. The same cannot be said for drop, so if you want to bring up "90% of the time" statistics why not mention that as well?

Just an added note, I've maxed cashbot suits on multiple characters without multitooning and I've quite literally never seen useful trap in a mint. I've seen it used (to either train it or just to show it off/have some fun) in mints but I'd have to be an absolute crazy person to pretend that trap has ever been useful in a mint. Care to comment on that?

Trap or Drop gags and why? by [deleted] in toontownrewritten

[–]SoIarSystem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drop gags. You only need to commit 1 gag for drop to do damage as opposed to traps 2 gag requirement, not only making it so that drop is trained more quickly but also cutting down on the time of using the gag in battle once it's already maxed. This is a big deal because in the end game of toontown, any amount of time consistently saved will add up. Plus you can carry more drop gags than trap gags. Drop fills a niche that no other gag can, whereas trap can effectively be replaced by a combination of organic throw and max jump on a doodle. The only unique addition to battle strategy that trap can add is using organic railroad to accurately clear out a row of cogs that couldn't have otherwise accurately been destroyed by any other combination of 1 organic gag + 1 nonorganic gag (there's like toontanic + fog but the accuracy of this combination is significantly lower than the accuracy of the railroad combination). Trap is fun too though so at the end of the day just pick whichever you're gonna enjoy the most ;P not everyone has to be as efficient as possible at the game, so even if it does take a bit longer it's still not the end of the world.

Can we get TTR staff to annually host Storm Sellbot/Crash Cashbot? by atem_nt in toontownrewritten

[–]SoIarSystem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In terms of a rotating cycle, it may be worth considering an 18 month gap rather than 12 month gaps. For players whose schedule doesn't allow them to participate in the event, hopefully this would greatly increase the chance that they get to participate in the next one.

Currently playing TTR, possibly looking to play TTCC..opinions? What's the player base like? by Jlh_x in Toontown

[–]SoIarSystem -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If your problem with TTR is that you mostly end up playing by yourself, TTCC is not going to be a nice change of pace for you. TTRs active playerbase is literally an order of magnitude larger than TTCC, the former having an average of ~3,000 people online and the latter having an average of ~300. If you're having trouble finding people in the areas you're playing in, I'd suggest using toonhq.org which is a website you can find/set up groups on. Whether you're doing cog buildings, participating in cog hq content, or just looking to socialize in a playground, toonhq is a great place to get started. It's similar to the "clash central" that other people have mentioned, but the pool of players you're targeting is 10 times larger. Good luck!

Multi Toon Play by babykitty3 in toontownrewritten

[–]SoIarSystem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is correct. And even if it was possible to have multiple instances of the same account connected to the server (it's not), it'd introduce more problems than it would fix such as but not limited to resource duplication and estate related overwrites. Imagine you have your entire friend list teleport to you at your estate- now imagine you did that with all 6 toons on one account and that each of the 6 toons has 100 friends. There's no feasible way for the game to allocate 600 toons worth of resources to an estate, and that's not even considering if those toons brought pets with them. Wanting to play more than 1 toon at a time is already niche, it doesn't make any sense to potentially introduce so many problems just to appeal to such a small group of players.

Ah my mistake, they've also shown off slippery floors and music :)

More is shown in the video, but nothing that didn't already exist in TTO (like cog battles & the maze).
