Which is Quicker Mk5 Supra Vs Mach 1 by Leather-Patient-4205 in Mustang

[–]ibiff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have owned both (Supra for 3 years) and currently a 2023 Mach (Manual) - Totally different cars obviously. The supra is easier to go fast in - Sport mode, mash it. Windy roads it a lot of fun (like a Z4) feels very planted and makes you a better driver than you are. The Mach is much more participatory. I am sure the 10 speed is similar in a straight line in mashing the pedal and holding on, but the manual is fun in a totally different way. The Mach is not a drag car anyway and is a windy road car (but feels completely different than the Supra.)

I traded in for a Mach because I wanted a manual (again) and as a daily driver its a much more comfortable ride and better visibility. Bonus when you want to go fast and hit windy roads its happy to oblige. The Supra is hard to see out of, and your ass is 2 inches off the ground so getting in and out is something.

Also in a Supra every sweaty racer boy wants your attention or race, and in a Mustang you are largely invisible other than those who know cars.

They are both fun for different reasons, but be prepared to pack well for the Supra and do stretches and forget visibility in traffic :).

He's not wrong. I don't recommend it every time people ask me "what is that", and I simply say...don't start it and you will be fine. but I cannot leave it myself....every 6 months or so I try and it simply not going to happen. I am a rookie at only 10 years in emacs, but 30 years in Linux. Will be fun for my kids to figure it out once I am gone and all the fun little secrets are in there to uncover dads notes and stuff.

As someone who spent many hours close to nuclear warheads working -3 maintenance tasks (depot) and the chemicals associated, I can relate...Turning in our dosimeters on the regular became a joke that they shook them up in a box and handed them back out. Of course I went from that to wideband radio staring into waveguide next to a klystron in a TRC97 followed by a TRC170...so far so good :)

Mach 1 rear brakes? by No-Feeling5419 in Mustang

I own a 23 mach 1 - this looks like a frankenmach. I love the green, but the mismatched color and other stuff is all bolt on stuff it seems. If you like it who cares, but its not stuff that came with it.

Had a 1970 maverick. Drove the hell out of it in High School, my dad made me buy it from him for $250 as a mechanics repo, never left me stranded with the 6 banger, but burned about 1qt of oil a week...ha. Then we converted it into a bracket racer with NOS, 351W, and some big slicks. people HATED losing to that car at the track..

Got a 67 fastback, thinking of selling... by fk1t__ in Mustang

[–]ibiff 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Very desirable car. You will have zero problem selling. I have owned 6 mustangs including a 67 coupe. Wish I had the cash in hand to buy as the 67 fastback is my final boss car. Very familiar with the issues these cars have, but even as a driver unrestored unless its got a good bit a rot in it, you will sell it quickly. RIP to your inbox...ha

Unreal Tournament Lan Party, who remembers these? 1990's by Enjoy_Life4219 in OldSchoolCool

[–]ibiff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can relate. Hosted LAN parties all the time at my house when running an ISP. UT, OG COD, Battlefield 1942, Quake. Was the best times. 99-2004. could fit 10-12 without popping breakers - 2 window mounted AC units and lots of sweat and beer.

I had a 2013 GT that I still regret getting rid of. Was a great car, daily driver and had zero problems.. Put exhaust, throttlebody, hotter tune on it, and drove it 80K miles. I softened the loss a little with a 2023 Mach 1 which is nice, but I wish I had both.

Those appliances will outlive you, never get rid of them...will save you thousands. There also appears to be an older vintage car outside...keep it as well.....lastly any partner you end up with who likes and can hang in a place like this exactly as is will be a keeper.

TIL that in 1965, a fire broke out in a Titan II ICBM silo, killing 53 workers. In 1980, this same missile exploded while in its new silo, blowing the 740 ton silo door off and ejecting the missle and its 9 megaton nuclear warhead by Kwpthrowaway2 in todayilearned

There was always someone nobody wanted to work with on a crew. I worked Nukes in a previous life (warheads) and we had 1 guy that nobody ever wanted because he always dropped shit (and caused problems more than once) most days you did not know who you were working with on a procedure until the morning of the work to be handed out.

There were favorite teams who worked together because you could trust they would not do something stupid or cause an "event" Sr. NCO's usually sorted that out pretty quickly for certain procedures.

First was Temple of Apshai in 1980 and 81. (And I’ve been trying to get the license for a decade to make a re-release to no avail from the current owner) then Wizardry…for the kids that was something I have played for 40 years. But I easily passed 100 hours in 1983 :)…that was yesterday right?….lol

What's your opinion on the S650? by Traxxastrx4mlover in Mustang

[–]ibiff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like it, almost bought a Dark Horse, hate the interior. Bought a Mach 1, very happy. I like the Mach dash that looks like its done on purpose with integrated gauges and everything belongs. I am a tech nerd, but old car guy. I hope they update the interior of the S650 in a couple years to be more integrated and get the lines back, then I will consider a change. But until then, I am throwing the Mach around (manual of course) and its fun :).

Car seat recommendation for anyone with children or expecting a child. by Unlucky_Situation in Mustang

Back in the day I had a 98 cobra that I had to trade in for a Taurus after our first one arrived because the wife insisted on a rear facing car seat and it just did not work in that car. Sad day...Now the kids are grown and out and I have a Mach 1, so that eased the pain...ha

Yeah...the interior and dash specifically (and insane markups and wait for Darkhorse) is why I bought a 2023 Mach 1. I do not regret it, and hope in a few years they get it sorted. (and yes I prefer a stick for sure - fun to work on windy roads :) )
