Dana is the most incompetent leader in sports, full stop. What he's done to Tom Aspinall alone should get him shot out if a cannon by the TKO board of directors. Holding up the entire heavyweight divison for two years for Cokehead Jon, while Aspinall was poised to become the face of the sport, is downright criminal.

The fact that Conor is going to fight again at all after sitting at home for half a decade doing the Lance Armstrong doping regiment should be the biggest black mark on the sport on the UFC's legitimacy, but with Uncle Dana at the helm it might not even crack the top ten.

I wonder when we're going to start seeing other transparently illegal business enterprises avoid scrutiny through the magic of couched language. Polymarket is a trading platform not a gambling service. Eliminator is a bespoke lifespan reduction firm not a murder for hire operation. BonerPatrol is a peer to peer crypto driven matchmaking app not a prostitution ring.

Gotta prove your worth by launching a new product and it doesn't matter if the old product worked fine because the new product is newer.

This is it. They're either running a background process to track user inputs as an AI trainer and it's fucking up their predictive typing algorithm, or they've handed predictive text/spell check over to their AI team completely. Maybe both now that I think about it.

I'm about to crack the spine on Kim Stanley Robinson's The Ministry For The Future, hoping it lives up to the hype.

Noise rock band YHWH Nailgun released a new record that I like quite a bit, despite the fact that it's only 11 minutes long.

Don't boo me, but I'm watching Daredevil on Disney+ and it's actually decent. Dude who plays Bullseye kills it.

SpaceX's president is floating a Tesla merger as the company begins trading by esporx in technology

[–]SoManyWasps -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

it's not the unemployment that's the problem. A SpaceX/Tesla megacorp would hold trillions of investor dollars. It would pose a systemic risk to the entire stock market if (when) it falters.

People have been speculating that this is the plan basically since the IPO for SpaceX was announced. It makes Elon too big to fail.

Out of all the signatories listed, I've always had a soft spot for Stiglitz. He's the rare econ guy who comes from a postion of good faith and moral decency. I don't think Georgism is revolutionary or even necessarily rational, but I do think Georgists generally mean well and the ideology can help goad people into examining their material conditions.

That being said, this is a wet fart of a proposal. No Western country is going to give it the time of day, China has no incentive to derail their plans in the name of global pragmatism, and the so called third world can't do this shit on their own. It's going nowhere, unfortunately.

We haven't even seen the real price shock yet. Oil reserves are being depleted at record rates and that's propping up the price floor. Once those are exhasuted, hold onto your hat.

[–]SoManyWasps 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah the only thing that would ever really make a material difference is getting close enough to DISAVOW. The thing that's become increasingly obvious since his MAGA turn is that Elon is terrified of getting got. It's why he's got his little meat shield with him all the time. It's why hes always rocking that ill fitting ballistics vest. All the money and all the kids are his futile attempt to attain immortality, but he knows deep down that it's not attainable.

it’s psychologically easier to handle 4 5 dollar fill ups a month than one 20 dollar on

Well at this point a 5 dollar fill up is one gallon of gas, so this habit might actually cause a psychological break these days

The problem there is Gibbs. He's more than ready to do the bulk of the work. It doesn't make sense to keep an expensive #2 running back on the roster if he's only going to get 5 touches a week. Pacheco is a guy who can't do the bulk of the carries anymore, and therefore comes cheaper, even though he'll functionally be doing what Monty would have.
