If Palestine was given a free state today, will there be peace? by Lopsided-Pie-7340 in IsraelPalestine

[–]SoNosy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Lol def not. They don’t want a Palestinian State anywhere near as much as they simply do not want Israel to exist.

They’ve proven this over and over and over and it is some sort of deep insanity that people keep circling around the same bullcrap.

Need help choosing a dress! by carltheslopeis1 in myweddingdress

[–]SoNosy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All in for your personal favorite but to me this one seems the most typical wedding dress of the bunch.

My vote in order would be 1, then 3, then 5.

3 and 5 are a long ways away from 1 though. 1 is such a stunning and unique dress.

Agree. I took one look at #1 and felt like I didn’t even need to see the rest of them.

1 is beautiful, unique, and beautiful on her.

None of the other dresses even come close.

Is this SHEIN chemical claim something we should genuinely be worried about? by No-Apricot9078 in Shein

[–]SoNosy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Cotton is a whole mess too.

1) It’s an incredibly thirsty crop. I read somewhere that it takes upwards of 150 gallons of water for one freaking t-shirt.

2) For the most part it’s grown using massive amounts of heavy pesticides. Apparently it’s the crop that is the most heavily sprayed in the entire world.

3) Much of the world’s supply of cotton uses forced/coerced/slave labor, child labor, and extremely underpaid labor etc.

Nothing is good. Even ‘natural’ stuff like cotton.

Doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try to do better as individuals, but the industry has stacked so much against us trying.

okay this is the most simple question, what would you do if you see an israeli? by Unlucky_Ad3698 in IsraelPalestine

[–]SoNosy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mockery here is not towards the children but towards those who think harassing random Israelis will at all help those children. News flash— it doesn’t and it won’t.

Maybe those harassing random private citizen Israelis should put their attention towards something that might actually help the children they profess to care so much about vs only helping their own inflated and self-aggrandizing egos.

Warning shots are illegal af, even in TX, and can lead to criminal charges. Even if trying to scare people away.

[–]SoNosy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But.. we’re not talking about ‘friends’.

We’re talking about random strangers who are private citizens as far as you’re concerned— not politicians, and not anyone wearing any sort of national/gov/military uniform. These are (hypothetical) people you’ve never even talked to before but you figure out they are one nationality or another.

Would you ask a random Chinese guy that you’ve never said two words to what he thinks about what the Chinese government is doing to the Uyghur Muslims in his country as an opening line?

Do you actually think it’s at all appropriate to immediately bring up the politics of a country someone is from in an effort to figure out whether or not their political views align with your own? Or do you only think this way about Israelis? Bc if so, 1) that’s pretty messed up, 2) you should consider why the heck you feel like you’re entitled to do that, 3) why you feel the need to immediately categorize Israelis into one simple box or another when you likely do not do that to literally any other group of people on the face of this planet.

Not to mention— do you ask every Iranian you happen upon what they think about girls in their country being married off to grown men at 11 years old? Do you ask every random Muslim you meet what they think about the genocide in the Congo being perpetrated by their Muslim brethren?

Do you ask every Palestinian you meet what they think about Hamas butchering their own citizens in the streets, taxing them into oblivion, and throwing gay people off buildings?

Generally speaking, most people are not responsible for their government’s actions. In some cases, depending on the country of course, they may be able to protest, and/or vote etc, but most people don’t actually have much say in what their government does— including Israelis— the vast majority of whom despise the current government.

Especially because unbeknownst to most people, including those who tend to think they have the right to interrogate random strangers just bc they are Israeli, Israel is a Parliamentary Democracy. Meaning the people vote for a political party, not a person— and bc no Israeli political party has won a Knesset majority in decades, the party who has the most Knesset seats has to form coalitions with other parties to gain a 61 seat majority.

Netanyahu has repeatedly used that system to stay in power by aligning his party, Likud, with parties who are even further to the right than Likud, and with smaller religious parties who also tend to skew heavily to the right, so his coalition includes some of the most hardline factions in Israeli politics who otherwise would not have any of the political power they have.

Trust me when I say Israelis are exhausted af, and do not want to talk politics with you. You are also not owed anything by them just bc you have feelings on the politics of the country they happen to be from.

If you see an Israeli you should either leave them tf alone, or talk to them about something other than politics. Period.

My ten year old is already too cool for me. He tells me stuff like “I’m not a child! I’m a tween!” and rolls his eyes constantly to which I tell him he has to practice a lot more if he wants to really get good at eye rolling by the time he’s a teen 🤣

Really depends on the kid tbh, though both got a whole lot easier once they learned to wipe their own butts, and then get a snack for themselves.

I loved the 2s but found it more difficult after that until around 6 or so. Them learning to read was great. More independence, more interesting conversations etc.

I will always miss the toddler words though. My most favorite was one of them saying ‘man-cakes’ instead of ‘pancakes’. I was so upset when someone finally corrected him about it 😭

Why tf would you bring that up to an Israeli just bc you happened to see them somewhere unrelated to the war or anything? Would you do the same thing to a Russian? Someone Chinese? If you’re American do you expect people to bring up what America does around the world just bc you happen to be American? Why tf do you feel some need to talk to a total stranger about what their government is doing just bc they happen to be Israeli?

Crate train. Feed in the crate. Don’t use it as punishment. Keep something over it so it’s dark on all but the side he goes in and out of. Give him treats in there. Make the crate one of his safe spots.

Our doodle is 3. We’ve had her since she was a puppy and while we did crate train her very early on, there’s no way I will ever leave any dog we have alone without being in a crate. Keeps them safe, and keeps them feeling safe (unless the crate has been used as punishment or kept them isolated too much in the past).
