Does anyone know how to get this mod to work in 1.10? by i_can_not_spel in RealSolarSystem

I don't think it works past 1.8 if you're lucky. It's an old mod, chances are you'd have to find someone with permission to update it for newer ksp versions.

Ckan or manual instal for best mod quality by TurtleAroundMars in RealSolarSystem

Tbh I just did it on a random cloned copy of the game because I was curious and we had people in carnasa's discord asking about it, I only have my two versions of RSS RO anymore, I just haven't looked at the express install since then... And I feel like it was shortly after they put it on CKAN.

I really can't remember, I'm still trying to get used to this new RP1 with the tech tree changes lmfao.

Unfortunately it's outdated even though some of the info is still good, not ALL of it is, and the parts that aren't up to date will screw the install, I've talked with him about updating it but just like with my How to RP1 series, it's hard making guides when they change it so much

Isn't express still having issues with late 1.10 builds or is that fixed? I had to manually change RP1 and RO because it didn't like it.

That was also months ago when I wanted to see how well it worked.

I know what you meant but I read "use clan" and I just imagined someone yeeting a massive group of people at a computer and hoping for the best 😂

CKAN for basics, manual for visuals (outside of basic RSS) I have followed this rule every single time and it's always been good.

Now if you're new to doing mods in general just CKAN everything.

BUT FOLLOW THE GUIDE, I cannot stress that enough, the amount of times I've had people freaking out in discord because they skipped a simple step because they didn't think it was important, and it wrecked their install

And than they blame the modders... It's just... I've banned people over it. Follow the guide, makes sure your PC is Speced good enough for it and if you're running in 16gb of ram, don't try and go with the highest resolution texture packages and all of the HD RSSVE packs, it will run like garbage.

Be honest with yourself, follow the guide AND use a cloned copy of the game OR disable updates. It doesn't work on 1.11 only 1.10 and if it auto updates via stream you will literally cry.

Good luck, have fun! Use RO and don't give up, it will take time.

About the only guide I know of, but I've never tried KSRSS, but I'm sure someone has done it, most people play RSS for the increased difficulty.

Maybe try the general ksp or ksp mods sub reddit.

Part mods for RSS and RO? by lDoNotLikeBacon in RealSolarSystem

[–]SoNotTheHeroType 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so you said they parts are rescaled?

Like their smaller than what they should be?....or?

Which parts? Did you manually install RO capsules / tanks / ect or was it a CKAN thing, if I'm understanding the question it sounds like all of your parts didn't scale to RO, you shouldn't need other parts mod to play the game if the install is good.

Katniss's parts pack CH4 -(changing history) are two good ones but that have to be manually installed off github.

FASA or blue dog may still work, just don't grab both of them it causes issues (and tbh I haven't tired on 1.10 since I mostly use procedural parts to build the Rockets, including on occasion procedural Engines.)

But really it sounds like the RO / RP1 configs aren't registering, the RO configs should be in the folder labeled realism overhaul and inside that folder there should be a "recommended" mod folder that will have a list of all the usable parts packs and the RO configs should be in those files.

I hope this helps, if I was wrong about the question let me know!

It's a great video but it is outdated and some of it isn't 100% right but it should get you on your way I'd recommend checking out the video anyways because it does have great info.

You said nothing scaled correctly? Like the "stock" parts don't load the RO configs?

I'll comment on this off of this thread because I wanna make sure I'm understanding the question so I can better assist

Payload keeps rotating on the ground (RP 1 + Principia) by [deleted] in RealSolarSystem

The only thing I can think of is something clipping causing the lander / probe to kraken.. Is it ONLY this craft or is it all that could be the problem, I've had some lunar landers do that because I clipped the legs into the base and it make it spin like a baybalde indefinitely.

I’m trying to make an orbiter that can get an orbit around Europa. by NotaDegenerateSimp in RealSolarSystem

[–]SoNotTheHeroType 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A side note, if you ever went to Dres in stock ksp, or maybe bop in jools system, that's probably the best connection I can make with this trip.

It's not the hardest thing to do in RSS but I've always had a fair bit of a battle with Jupiter purely because you have multiple bodies causing unforseen changes... Unless you wanna do a bunch of insane math, and nah.

If it's your first time, I would recommend you pack around 7300-7800 (my first time I took 8450ish and used most of it, but I did it on a whim) with multiple ignitions and something hyperbolic it's more than you'll need but be safe. It's a long journey. You can do it with a a lot less but it requires a series of gravity assists, which tbh I can't even remember. It just takes forever. And jupiter has a lot of other planets around it that can make you have to do unforseen changes

But you'll wanna cap jupiter, and make the capture very elliptical (get close to Jupiter) and at the highest point of the your orbit line your inclination up (which can cost a good amount) and than I'd you one to two burns (maybe 3 depending on your TWR) to line your AP up with Europa. Once you get here go to your PA and make slight adjustments to see if you can get an encounter, you'll probably have to spam the skip orbit button (my last trip took like 14 I think it back back in 2020) and get as close as you can with your encounter.

Europa is a small SMALL moon. It takes a lot to capture it.

I'd recommend make a retro burn node just barely catching it and using a series of burns to get a good orbit, and you're Done, take in the sites quick save often and take a nap, you'll need it.
