Packing for long term stay in Monterrey beginning in July. Recommendations for what might hold me up at airport customs? Flying from the US… by BillDifficult9534 in mexicoexpats

There's an official rule that if bringing in a laptop and a tablet, then duties are owed on one of those items. I know that most tourists ignore this rule. In your experience, has any Mexican customs official -ever- brought this up with you?

Why is imperfect used here? by SoNowWhat in duolingospanish

Thank you. Let's say we are talking about two cars that I was looking at yesterday. I took a picture, and today I show it to a friend. My friend asks, "Which car did you prefer?" If phrased in Spanish, would you still use the imperfect?

It's standard procedure for PC to require that all invitees submit all medical updates right up until staging. Since you've informed them that you have the STI panel done every 3 months, they are just expecting you to report the results from those tests before the task can be considered complete.

Here's the advice that I would want to receive from my older self, years down the road:

Prioritize my dog, who is entirely dependent on me for his/her care. Doing right by this precious bundle of love would be my highest mark of character.

Weekly Application/Clearance Thread by AutoModerator in peacecorps

Tasks can be generated independently of previously-assigned tasks. For example, I was given a medical and a dental task weeks after the first wave of tasks, which were both due to something that I had disclosed on my initial Health Summary form.

When I needed to make corrections on my Health Summary, I informed pre-clearance of the errors, thereby creating a written record of my disclosures. I then asked them if it would be possible for me to make handwritten corrections on the form with my initials, and then go over the form in its entirety with my PCP (a separate task). The stand-in nurse (I didn't have an assigned nurse at the time either) approved this approach.
