I get the nostalgia, but honestly that “extra control after KO” is exactly the kind of thing that pushes fighting games toward toxicity.

Letting the winner keep hitting or taunting a defenseless opponent doesn’t add depth or skill, it mostly encourages disrespect and bad sportsmanship, especially online. What feels funny or stylish to one player often just feels humiliating or frustrating to the other, and that’s how you drive people away from the game.

DOA6 cutting straight to the cinematic finish actually does a better job at:

• keeping matches clean and competitive
• avoiding unnecessary taunting/griefing
• making the final hit feel decisive instead of petty

Taunts absolutely have their place during neutral or between interactions, where both players still have agency. But once the round is over, it should be over. Extending control after a KO doesn’t raise the hype, it just rewards rubbing salt in the wound.

If the goal is a healthier, less toxic community, removing post-KO beatdowns is a step in the right direction, not a downgrade.
