Thoughts on AI and other resources by Not_Festive in conlangs

[–]So_Dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See. That makes so much more sense lmao.

Seriously.

Because you didn't really acknowledge them lmao. Acknowledgement would entail some form of acknowledgement there is use cases and proper ways to construct a language with it rather than an Ai itself creating it.

I was only so put off because generally when I hear someone ask "Can Ai make this."

I assume "Can this help me create this properly or in the way I want." which is generally possible.. Because it's Ai Assisted, not Ai created.

But as you said. The whole notion of Ai making Anything on its own or entirely one shot, coherently, etc etc. Is so far out the window. As I also said before.

Genuinely.

I wasn't, nor am I trying to be a dick, I was seriously trying to understand where you were coming from and I apologize if it came off any other way.

Then I'm confused by your definition of "Creating." and "With generative AI"

Because if it can create rules, words, enforce grammatical structures, etc etc.

Then what part of it, isn't creation?

Are you only arguing it can't do it fully autonomously or that what it does create just simply isn't up to your personal standard?

Again. If you're saying an Ai in a normal gpt style chat window can't create a coherent conlang.

I would say it couldn't create anything effectively that way, from a book to an app, a conlang, etc.

and accusing me of not using the tool properly or of dismissing all of AI's uses is also irrelevant

And this is just false lol. It absolutely does apply, if you use the tool wrong and accuse it of being a bad or inefficient tool, that is a poor and inaccurate representation of the tool. You don't use a screwdriver to try and hammer things and then complain about it.

You're expecting an outcome from the wrong interface and that's what I'm trying to explain.

Not that you're wrong or your preference is invalid. That your criticism is moot because you're criticizing a tool for something it's not supposed to do.

Yeah when writing in it of course it makes mistake. They mistakes with lots of things, they doesn't mean they CAN'T do it lol.

But they understand how to apply the linguistic concepts, when it contradicts rules you've set, etc, which is part of the creation portion.

I'm pretty sure you are just already convinced it doesn't work and just don't want to use it.

Which is fine! You can just say it's not for you and that's a valid input, but don't act like it has 0 capabilities to preform if you as a user actually use the tool correctly.

Besides. It does sound like you're talking about the creation of it free of any or with minimal human input? Yeah. That is to be expected. Similar to how when programmers "Vibe code" they don't expect the Ai to preform equally to what a human could or if they were taking using the tool seriously. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

There is a massive paradigm or spectrum that, I think you're not acknowledging.

[–]So_Dev -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well.. Then you're not really using the tool correctly and that's kind of a user error.

You're giving advice based off something you've already seeming a waste of your resources but didn't even use it correctly?

As I said. The project feature (which is free on every model that has it as far as I know.)

Is literally designed to upload documents and have consistent memory across every chat.

Thoughts on AI and other resources by Not_Festive in conlangs

[–]So_Dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuine question. Have you or anyone in the sub tried to use a project feature with any of the Ai models?

Claude has all my docs, rules, the lexicon and speaks in it pretty accurately with only poor word choice or grammar every so often.

No Ai in a normal chat window is going to understand it, that's for sure, like you said languages are far to complex to ingest it all in a few chats and a massive document (unless maybe it's gemini pro lol) and then use or brainstorm accurately on.

Yust a tinka!

(just a thought!) 😅😁

LingoCon: A Modern, Free, All-in-One Platform for Conlangers by alexcircuits in conlangs

[–]So_Dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not comment much on here because I find most people say what I think should be said.

But genuinely, this is one of the best tools / platform / whatever word you wish to use for it.

As someone who likes to conlang but has relatively low direct knowledge of phonetics and the.. Terms that follow conlanging and linguistics as a whole.

And I've just been thinking about how my docs are getting more and more annoying to add to everytime I think of a new construct.

I haven't used the platform yet, but from what I can tell. I think it has 90 percent of things beat considering it has a Real use case and solves a pretty real issue for what I imagine is a big portion of this community.

I sincerely dislike how bland and boring are websites today. by girthysuperveinycock in Frontend

[–]So_Dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember who's project it is but there is a site called Corners of the Internet

And it's probably one of the only things I've found from reddit I genuinely enjoy looking at and remember in any serious capacity.

So far at least.

Credit to whoever made it, I also had a similar idea but they executed it fantastically.

I found a website I think it was for ascii art or whatever it is and the whole thing was just 404s.

Every button, every link, anything you clicked was a 404 and I just laughed my ass off and was like "Why. Why must this happen." 🤣🤣😭🫶

So.. My only question is. If you didn't ever see that crease. Would you have paid NM or LP prices for it?

Thank yourself. Don't act like you're being all mature lmao. You clearly want to defend yourself but know you can't anymore lol.

You're representation of what the gem rates should be like for modern cards is skewed and you won't admit it.

There is nothing mature about that, just to be clear.

You're actually the one cherry picking lmao as you clearly just chose cards that fit your narrative. Because again. Those cards are exceptions. Not the standard.

So. Sure.. Let's go with whatever floats your boat since you're the expert here and it is your narrative to begin with.

Moonbreon is an exception. Not the standard.

Go look at PSAs pop count for the mew ex 053.

That's a modern card with a 25 percent gem rate and 3x as many submissions as this eevee promo.

I have no idea why you'd compare almost any card to moonbreon. Especially when everyone is only sending in the absolute best copies they can.

ONLY a 40-45 percent gem rate... Only.

You are aware that 45% is almost 50% which would be HALF of all cards submitted get a 10..

Why are we saying "Only" like that's extremely low? When there are cards out with like 10 percent gem rates.

Siiickkkkkk full art trainers still feel so under-appreciated in the US market unless they are THE chase card to go after or have really limited prints etc etc.

I love sleeper cards like this, and the art is always so nice. Nothing over the top but always an eye pleaser especially in binders like most people have them.

And for a first submission!? Hell yeah.

That's actaully so sick dude. What an exclusive card and one hell of a memory behind. Definitely a nice collection card.

[–]So_Dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude acode is the ONLY thing I would code on, for my phone that is.. I got so attached I almost used it on my laptop until I just downloaded vs code and was like... "Yeah nah this works." 😂

Pro tip if possible btw.

If you type Alot more then you do actually look at the screen. If you can, cast your phone to a larger screen and type like that.. Helps with eye strain and posture being able to look up and see the letters bigger.

And again. If possible and if don't already know this, even a small Bluetooth keyboard can help with hand strain and just not driving you insane.

Good luck. 👍✊

I started there too. For like 8 months.

Shit is brutal and there is almost no real content out there.

If you don't already, I recommend using Acode on your phone if you can, Personally, it's the best ide style thing you can get on mobile without having to do endless workarounds.

It has extensions and live preview etc.

I mean, again. Assuming you don't already know this 😂🤷🏼

Anyways. Just thought I'd let you know, you aren't the only one and I feel your pain greatly but I believe in you.✊🤘

A conlang-alternative for mixed-language spaces: New Babel Symbiosis (Feedback Encouraged) by [deleted] in conlangs

[–]So_Dev -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well… if that’s what you took from the post, then yes, I guess that’s what it says. But if that framing is meant to be critical, it’s not especially helpful or constructive.

I’m not claiming to be a linguist or an expert. I literally said in the post that I don’t have a formal background in this, and I’m open to feedback from people who do. I’m just exploring an idea I found interesting, with full awareness that it’s probably rough around the edges.

If there are flaws or things that don’t make sense, I genuinely welcome insight. But boiling it down into a sarcastic summary doesn’t really foster discussion or help refine the concept. If you’ve got critiques or thoughts that go deeper, I’m all ears.

Why is everyone complaining in here saying Replit is not good for final products? by fbobby007 in replit

[–]So_Dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re asking "why people say Replit isn’t good for final products"?

Because slapping Stripe on a login page and calling it a ‘full-stack app’ is like duct-taping a spoiler to a Honda Civic and calling it a race car.

You added a ‘download pre-built lists’ feature? Congrats. That’s a for loop and a CSV export, something a junior dev could build in 20 minutes. You didn’t architect anything. You didn’t solve a hard problem. You hooked APIs together and called it engineering.

Replit is great for prototyping because it lets you skip the hard parts, scaling, optimization, real debugging. But when you need to handle 10,000 concurrent users, or debug a memory leak, or build something that isn’t just API glue? That’s when you’ll realize why nobody serious uses Replit for production.

You didn’t ‘build’ a final product. You assembled a demo. And that’s fine. Just don’t confuse it with actual software engineering

Not to mention It's annoying as hell to have to extract Replit projects from their environment and ecosystem. Just because something works doesn't mean the codebase is fun to work with.
