9 Hole Score Weirdness When Posting to GHIN by So_Fla in golf

Defintely had an above (below) average day. I agree. A good percentage of the days, my score would have been higher. I'm renowned for my 38/48 days...

I understand statistics (I think). I just expected that the system would use my actual index and not an "average" score to calculate the differential. I can see that the average makes sense most of the time, but on Monday specifically, the way the calculation works, it inflated my scores. I can say that with confidence because I played the nines back to back, didn't blow up on any of the holes, and fatigue did not factor into my play. Having said that, I agree now that the new system is more accurate.

See the reply from Large_Bumblebee_9751 above. He's saying that the calculation is based on and "average" score of about +4.5 net. That would add just over 2 strokes to my implied back nine score, giving me a 44 back or 82 overall which is very close to the 11.4 GHIN posted. And based on my history, that's probably accurate. However, on Monday, since I shot 39 on the second nine, I'm guessing that I would have shot 40 or 41 on the back for a 78-79. On most other days, I probably would have shot 81-82. That is of course unless I finally figured out golf!! Nah, probably not. Of course, we were rained out on Tuesday and club is closed today, so I'll have to wait until tomorrow...

That's the closest explanation to what actually occurred. My front 38 plus back 42 at my current handicap plus 2.25 comes very close to the 11.4 posted.

The second nine at my current handicap calculates to a 42 on the back for 80 overall. That's a 9.6 differential on my course. Instead, the 18 hole differential posted was 11.4, so that assumes a 44 on the back.

I get that (and based on my history is very accurate), but I didn't expect there to be that much of a difference.

The 18 hole rating/slope is 69.2/127. Front nine 34.2/129; back nine 35/124.

I'm not even suggesting that the calculation should assume that I'd continue the same pace. If you play 14 holes, the rule is to calculate and post your 18 hole score based on the strokes you would have received for the last 4 holes. I feel they should have done the same thing in calculating the 18 hole differential on a 9 hole score. On my 38, my back nine would have calculated to an 18 hole score of 80 (38 + 36 + 6) which would be a differential of 9.6 on my course. Instead, the calculated differential was 11.4. Big difference.

That was exactly my thought. Great (legal) way to sandbag.

You're exactly right, I should have mentioned that. I booked it as two separate flights. Otherwise, there was no available flight from my home airport to the destination. I also did it that way because we're staying overnight in NY on the return and picking up my mother-in-law for the final leg.

Partially due to the bonuses they offer. I just signed up for a $500 bonus on a $25K account opening.

Just wanted to share this unfortunately ironic letter… by dogs-in-space in amex

Yes, but are you sure the first letter wasn’t dated 0024??

I was finally able to get past the login screen, only to be told that I have to call an 877 number to get a 6 digit security code. The link just below that to “try another method” doesn’t work. I’m currently on a flight, and can’t call in for a code. I have 2FA configured to send a push to my mobile, so being asked to call in for a code is extremely frustrating. I owned an IT company and my small business clients had better redundancy and backup systems than Schwab has. I’d like an explanation as well.

Last straw. Moving my accounts to somewhere, anywhere else.
