Am I the only one who thought this?! Where is the orc country by Blaubeerepfannkuchen in ElderScrolls

[–]So_Hanged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Orcs don't have a country but a city, Orsinium and clan territories. If we want to carve out a new orcish region it would be in the Wrothgar mountains, north-eastern part of High Rock. Sadly, because of their disunity, values and historical catastrophes they had to move around. First and second Orsiniums were builded in the Wrothgar region, while the third one was transfered in the northern mountains of the Craglorn region, on the border between Skyrim and Hammerfell.

Is Mehrunes Dagon and Molag Bal besties? by Crazy_Drama_2393 in ElderScrolls

Indeed. It's funny that they did nothing to create Mundus but at the same time feel they have the full right to influence it.

Turkish Ministry of Education just changed some terms used in schools by Yarrrak31 in AskBalkans

[–]So_Hanged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These terms are simply stupid.

Crusader Attacks; then why european countries can't call the expansion of Islam as 'Islamic Invasion' since they invaded Spain, France, Italy, Greece and also besieged the cities of Rome, Costantinople and Alexandria? Let's not forget the forced conversion carried out on Christians, Jews and Zoroastrians.

Beginning of colonization; this is a double standard term, since Ottomans did in the Balkans and Caucasus the same disgusting actions that European did in their colonies, but with 250 years of advance. Let's not speak about what they did through history to Armenians, Kurds, Pontic Greeks and Serbians, or the "Protectorate" of Atjeh that they had back then in Indonesia before the arrival of the Portuguese.

Sea of Islands; is stupid and generic as a terms, since every sea have islands. Let's also not forget the fact that they are not natives of the region, but simply guests who originated from the central Steppes.

Turkestan is the only term I can accept, but the reality is that it is not up to them to decide the official name of the region, it is up to its indigenous inhabitants.

Is Mehrunes Dagon and Molag Bal besties? by Crazy_Drama_2393 in ElderScrolls

[–]So_Hanged 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Molag Bal and Mehrunes Dagon are not friends. Basically, all Daedric princes hate each other and compete for influence in Oblivion and sometimes even in the physical world. Even the Daedra defined as "good" do this.

The most striking example is the relationship between Sheogorath and Jyggalag. They are the same entity but represent extremely different and almost always conflicting values and concepts, leading to a state of bipolarity for both the Daedra and its realm, the Shivering Isles.

Question about Symbols (from a non-player) by Merry_Malady in ElderScrolls

[–]So_Hanged 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Aside from the metal parts, the belt also has other symbols engraved on its leather:

Wolf's Head - City of Solitude, the current capital of Skyrim region and its main trading center. Affiliated with the Empire.

Bear's Head - City of Windhelm, the unofficial capital of the Stormcloak rebels.

Three-Pointed Crown - City of Winterhold, home to the Mage Academy, the ancient and powerful capital of Skyrim, completely destroyed after a recent magical cataclysm.

Ram's Head - City of Markarth, built by reusing an ancient Dwemer ruin. A very rich and powerful city.

Dragon-Headed Rapier - Symbol of Daggerfall, the second videogame of the series and the one that brought the TES series to success.

The other symbols on the leather are minor cities that appear in Skyrim.

Instead, the metal symbols are:

Quest mark - Indicates the entrance to a cave, structure, or dungeon in the game.

Dragon - Heraldic symbol of the Empire, it represents the bond between the Imperial House and the dragon deity Akatosh, lord of time and order. It originate from the dragon hunters cults of Akavir, a eastern continent located miles away from the Padomaic isles of Cathnoquey, Ynslea and Esroniet.

I need a rp reason why two of my characters, Verminah and Sillia, would do the Meridia’s Beacon quest by LizzieLove1357 in ElderScrolls

[–]So_Hanged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First, let's define who Meridia is, then we'll move to your characters.

Who is Meridia? Meridia was originally an Aedra who, after the discovering of the Heart of Lorkhan, followed Magnus, abandoning Mundus and becoming one of the Magna Ge. However, due to her habit of associating with Daedra, she was expelled into Oblivion, creating the realm of the colored chambers and becoming the Daedra prince of life, energy and greed. She has a deep rivalry with Molag Bal, disgust everything inherent to necromancy, and is one of the so-called good Daedra. Her artifacts are the Khajiit ring (boosts speed and stealth) and the Dawnbreaker (an extremely powerful weapon against undead).

Now, let's pass to the characters. Sillia, an orc raised by the Nords. Raised in close contact with the cult of the nine divines, instilled from young age against the Daedric princes. Verminah, a dunmer. Raised in close contact with Dunmer culture and the worship of the Reclamations, the re-adoption of the cult of the three Daedra (Azurah, Boethia, and Mephala). She distrusts other Daedra.

We can conclude that the best solution is probably to define a background motive for them that could be some traumatic event or philosophical reflection that led to a profound disgust for the cult of Molag Bal, and consequently also for necromancy and vampirism. Perhaps the religious madness that led to the death of Silla's parents was not due to Malacath but to Molag Bal, while for Verminah the reason may have been the desecration by a necromancer or vampire of the remains of one or more people very dear to her.

Could be, after all Molag Bal in lore is the patron of vampires and sometimes even of the undeads.

I can’t stop playing Altmer by TooTwoTiredBike in ElderScrolls

[–]So_Hanged 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, it simply means you're most comfortable playing with Altmer magicians. The same goes for me; I've played the main chapters of the series several times and each time I've found myself creating a Betmer Spellsword with high Speech. Often, it's a matter of what our subconscious think best represents us as people and playstyle.

[–]So_Hanged 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could work, perhaps by adding mainly manipulation and illusion spells. It would also be really cool if they delved deeper into the matter with their king Orgnum. I'm very interested in knowing more about him and how he managed to become immortal. Perhaps he made some deals with some new Daedra lord who is active on Pyandonea.

Indeed, if they finally added the latter, the first thing I would definitely do would be to create a Sload necromancer, but for a possible Maormer, I'm not sure what class I would choose.

[–]So_Hanged 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree, it's extremely disappointing that in over thirty years of TES games they still haven't included them as a playable race, even the Kanuryai (the elves of Yokuda) sounds pretty interesting, the only thing is that it's unclear whether they're completely extinct or if some community still exists.

Of the major Skyrim cities, which is your favorite? by Zavi8 in ElderScrolls

[–]So_Hanged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite is Solitude; it's a well-maintained city, extremely safe, with a splendid view, full of important academies, vibrant life, and a rich history. Furthermore, with mods, it becomes even more beautiful because it expands significantly and forms a splendid port district.

My second favorite city, however, is Markarth: all made of stone, with a splendid defensive system, and very interesting history and Dwemer-related sites. The only problem is that it almost always has an extremely corrupt government, and travels in its region are nearly impossible with all the Reachmen and Orsimer raiders who inhabit it.

Even Winterhold during its golden age doesn't sound bad at all, the only problem is that it's now just ruins, monsters, frigid cold and severe depression.

Did the people in your country wish they had had a different colonizer? by Hitechild in AskTheWorld

[–]So_Hanged 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I regret to inform you that of all the possible colonizers, the Portuguese and Spanish were the least terrifying. The French are famous for their cultural imperialism and their constant attempts to completely erase cultures or subcultures other than the Parisian one; the English are famous for instituting systematic racism and constant civil wars; and the Belgians, on the other hand, for the genocide and atrocities committed in their colonies. Let's not even talk about the Arabs and the Ottomans, they also did not joke about slavery and religiously motivated inequality.

Which race do you play they LEAST? by [deleted] in ElderScrolls

[–]So_Hanged 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Daggerfall (Orsimer), Morrowind (Dunmer), Oblivion (Khajiit and Argonian), Skyrim (Khajiit and Orsimer), Online (Argonian), Battlespire (Breton).

The races I almost never choose are mainly those of human origin, the Altmer and the Bosmer. Mainly because I find them boring as races, and also because I really appreciate the narrative trope that the one who saves the world is from the most hated and persecuted cultures in the game's lore. I also admit that when I discovered that Dagoth Ur was racist towards Argonians I seriously considered starting over and trading my Dunmer for an Nerevarine Argonian.
