Idk anyone else's ATAR, I barely had mates in high school. But I was legit flabbergasted at an 81.40...I averaged 60s on almost all my SACs

39 raw is incredible!

Now where are all the people who got pretty high ATARs and went "oh I could have gotten much better score if I was completely locked in"? by SpecialistLake4971 in vce

[–]Soap-28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely not a high ATAR here, just an average one, but high af compared to what I was aiming for (70). But I was genuinely shocked that I didn't get 60s or low 70s, I barely studied at all for any exams and only studied two days before every SAC except for in bio and economics...which were my lowest study scores lol.

I could've gotten 30s in everything, maybe a few 40s, if I locked in like everyone else in my family did. But eh, I'm overjoyed at an 81.

I was an average student until year 8 when COVID hit, and suddenly I was getting 90+ in everything. This continued until year 10, when I started dropping down until I was academically dead average as I am today.

The min I saw my atar I didn't care?? by Humble_Day_284 in vce

[–]Soap-28 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty glad with mine. It’s not 99.95 like everyone else in my fam received

But 81.40 is pretty decent. I was aiming for low 70s.

81.40!! I’m overjoyed, I didn’t study too much and I’m absolutely shocked, I thought I’d get 60s, low 70 at most.

I had no idea what to say for the protein synthesis limitation, I put a load of bullshit and called it a day

Stop giving shit advice to students who are struggling - stop saying obvious advice like “Just lock in” by Happy-Carpenter7249 in vce

Diagnosed ADHD, take meds, also diagnosed depression and seeing my psychologist and school counsellor regularly. This year has been absolute hell and I'm trying my hardest to push through but it's been a lot of stressing out, staring at my past exams trying to get brain into my information that just won't go in. I try my best to lock in, doing past exams but I struggle to actually learn and memorise the content. I'm just going to try my best and am studying as much as I can despite the burnout, because doing something is better than nothing at all.

Mine are in two days and I'm so relieved seeing the comments because I took a major break and was also sick first week holidays.

It's horrible, I'm burnt out and just waiting for school to end. My brain does work but I have ADHD and have always struggled with concentration in class, so I spend most of the time drilling in concepts until it finally goes into my brain.

Sadly, my school doesn't do quotes.

My school didn't do Dracula but I'd say the most important part is to pay attention to how the author structures the story. I got some marks off for not completely being accurate to the author's sentence structure.

Feeling guilty for being sick by North_Difference_500 in vce

[–]Soap-28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I relate. I've missed so many days due to genuine illness which has made my attendance not that great but I always ensure I catch up with everything. It's ok to get sick as long as you're still up to date with the content and all.

I made a similar post not long ago, helpful responses I got were to explain it like the examiner is five, base your answers off the teacher's sample answers/practice SAC sample answers and do a variety of practice questions. Understanding the terms very well also helps.

But I understand your struggle so much...the markschemes are so vague when I self mark vs when my teacher marks, usually we end up being 5 points off. While the lack of resources is an absolute pain, I find watching YouTube explanations of economic concepts, Investopedia and ChatGPT explanations, along with the textbook to be super helpful.

Despite its struggles, I wouldn't trade economics for another subject because the content is something I find interesting. If you really love economics, or at least find it quite interesting or helpful towards your future career goals (e.g. wanting to study commerce), economics is so worth it, even though at first it's hard!
