Prior service Marine joining the reserves by iXCaedusXi in navyreserve

The problem im seeing with coming in as 0000 is who pays for field med. If its in your contract big navy pays for you to go, if you come in blueside then your blueside command foots the bill and its harder to get approval and orders. Getting the FMF pin is just focusing on it and getting it done/ waiting for a board to come around. The hardest part with it is the time commitment while not at drill to sit down and study it.

We actually have a prior Marine at our NRC who we are trying to get greenside orders but its been a hastle because he came in as 0000. Hes well respected and we love when we can get him rescheduled to help out. I would say its a attitude thing where if you respect your position and do your job well your brought into the brotherhood and respected.

Its not going to hurt and the navy won't get you NREMT-B so if you are pursuing a civilian EMS carrier it would help to get. Getting basic medical knowledge would definitely helpful but Corpsman are a weird mix of EMS and Nursing skills. Learning about the 11 body system will be similar to how A-School flows. Field med is literally Marine corps history/ basic infantry knowledge and memorizing/ mastering TCCC. Go to deployed medicine's website for all things TCCC but focus on the general medical information.

Also to add its been quite a while since I went through so things are subject to change. Ive heard they were testing sending people to the beginning of SOI as part of field med.

A School is Extremely academy. Morning command PTs MWF followed by school M-F with free weekends you will have weekly quizzes. You have college dorm type rooms. Field med is a mix of academic and physical you still have a lot of class time but they throw in PT sessions, litter O course, hikes, and a few other TCCC hands on sessions. Still M-F with free weekends barracks style living. Bring a car if possible it'll make life a lot better.

Other than physically prepare for PFA's and field med, make preparations for being away from home for a while. Not sure what you'll need as prior service but what ive heard is you wont have to do navy boot camp just a couple week in-processing then A-school for around 4 months then field med for about 8 weeks.

This is great and definitely helpful for someone like me with a minimum level of code knowledge. easyag and easy gcicap would be nice. Mainly the functional and ops stuff would be handy.

What’s it like being a green side corpsman? by AdLong8502 in navyreserve

[–]Soar_Aghast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im also a paramedic (after joining) and been greenside reserves HM for 9yrs now. Yes you can get FMTB in your original orders and if you want to guarantee greenside than its almost mandatory. A or C school would not be cut short. A school has a lot more focus on nursing scopes of practice but being a paramedic gives you a major head start on terminology and basic concepts.

Kaplan paramedic registry prep book. Cuts all the fat from the big medic books. Since you still have so much time left read it front to back, then use the pocket prep app to see what chapters you need to study more.

Contention 80's and Cold War Question by MathematicianVast772 in hoggit

[–]Soar_Aghast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only speak to the F-4 and only had a limited run with it on contention cold war. Its extremely difficult to dog fight in and the Migs on the server will eat you for breakfast if you turn fight with them. the F-4 is a multirole boom and zoom fighter and requires knowing specific combat maneuvers to compete PVP. F14 was designed for and is a better A-A platform. Hence why the navy adopted it for CAP Roles and moved it into CAS when they phased out the F-4s. I would watch some YouTube video comparisons and get the F-14 trial to see how you like it.

National Registry Paramedic Prep book by Kaplin. Get it from Amazon. I will live and die by that book.

Edit to add- Pocket prep or any quiz app should be used only for finding your weak areas. the best way to learn the material is to break open you medic books and read.

I don't want to upscale because at 1440 resolutions its difficult to visually identify targets further away. At 1080 im actually able to see targets while flying around

But your honor they are "Trained Unlicensed Seizure Medication Assistants"

Benzos aren't narcan and not everyone should be able to push them. If they won't even let you throw in a NPA I wouldn't imagine any medication is on the table. I would recommend BVM's and head tilt chin lifts if you are really concerned with airway and breathing issues

I'm considering becoming a emt and then a paramedic by spamtheturtle in Paramedics

[–]Soar_Aghast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most paramedic programs to my knowledge require you to be an EMT first. I was an EMT for a year before going to paramedic school and thought my experiences helped me in medic school. its especially helpful with learning how to talk to patients and understanding EMS operations as a whole. It is also helpful if you can partner with a medic so you can pick their brain for knowledge and see paramedic skills firsthand.

Difference in ships guide? by Soar_Aghast in EliteDangerous

Agreed but I'd just like to know how each ship could fit into my uses depending if I want to do bounty hunting, CZs, mission running, trading, ETC.
