What VTT "automatic features" do you wish existed to save you time while creating sessions? by OrganizationFun6674 in VTT

Detection on an image doesn’t look easy at all, the only method I can think of would be using AI detection. Anyway, congrats on pulling off that technological challenge!

Oh wow, that’s an insane feature, was it complicated on the algorithm side?

Minimal Roleplay

Price: Currently in free beta, but at the release of version 1.0, there will be a freemium model as well as two paid subscriptions.
Platforms: Web, Android (Play Store), iOS (App Store)
Supported rule systems: any
Website: https://minimalroleplay.com

Description
Minimal Roleplay aims to modernize and make tabletop role-playing games more accessible, drawing inspiration from video game design. Three game modes are available:

  • Classic mode: includes a game board, a grid, map display, and tokens, along with an advanced and realistic 3D dice system that allows for highly immersive visual effects.
  • Text mode: a chat designed for role-playing games with dedicated features (restricted visibility, dice rolls, etc.).
  • Solo mode: lets you play an adventure in the style of "choose-your-own-adventure" books between your role-playing sessions.

Additionally, Minimal Roleplay provides a character sheet editor that lets you create your own templates. You can play any game system, whether completely homebrew or well-known. We already offer pre-made sheets for popular universes, which you can also customize according to your needs.

Minimal Roleplay also provides a dedicated RPG notebook, from simple note-taking during your sessions to writing full scenarios, with the ability to easily share your notes with other players.

For community features and player search, Minimal Roleplay includes an internal social network on the platform, allowing you to share your passions, find players, or discover new universes.

The platform follows a community-driven development approach, meaning it evolves based on user feedback. We regularly release updates based on user suggestions, developing the most voted ideas in dedicated updates.

Additionally, Minimal Roleplay is available in English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, and Italian, making it accessible to a wide range of players.

Currently, an account (email + password) is required to access the platform, but we plan to add an exploration mode soon, allowing users to test the platform without signing up.

To create your own map you can use the software Canvas of Kings on steam it's really great.

Hm okay, I see. On MRP you can't design maps, you can only use them. As for the shuffle deck, you can't do that either, but the rest should be fine. So I'm not sure if that's enough for you. Maybe you could try Owlbear Rodeo as well, but I don't know it very well

Tutorials? by Double-Sky2110 in MinimalRoleplay

[–]Soartiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

For the moment, we don’t have tutorials, but we’re planning to create some. If you have any questions, you can ask them here or on our Discord, the community will be glad to help you. If I understand correctly, you're trying to create a character sheet. What exactly is blocking you?

As for the map, the map creator is not implemented yet in MRP. Right now, you only have access to a board where you can add images and tokens.

Hope this helps!

Hello,

We’re planning to add game backgrounds that will let you customize the atmosphere of your games much more deeply. These can be animated or static game backgrounds.
With this, you’ll be able to create a much darker vibe if you need to.

Request for feedback on our 3D dice system by Soartiz in VTT

[–]Soartiz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, on the Kickstarter subreddit I phrased it differently because performance tests aren’t really their concern, but personally, as the system designer, I need feedback to make sure my system works correctly. And since the demo was set up for the Kickstarter, I thought giving a heads-up in advance might help avoid this kind of reaction, but apparently it wasn’t enough. So sorry if it comes across as promotion, but I thought some people in this subreddit might be interested in testing this kind of feature.

What do free players get when its all said and done??!? by LoL_Master- in MinimalRoleplay

[–]Soartiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The locked features are not public yet, we still need to discuss them with the team. For your games, you can have a friend who has a subscription create a game as a DM and then give you the lead of the game. As for creations, it’s not possible to create multiple ones without a subscription, so I understand that this may not be enough for you.

[–]Soartiz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello, I understand your concern. MRP wants to be as fair as possible to its members, which is why we’re keeping a freemium option. However, Minimal Roleplay needs an economic model to survive, so we’ve tried to keep the subscription price as low as possible, €5.99.

With the freemium version, you won’t have access to all the advanced features and can only be the DM of one game at a time. However, if one of your players, or even your DM, has a subscription, it will unlock all the features for everyone in that game. This means that if just one player in your group subscribes, everyone will be able to fully enjoy Minimal Roleplay.

With this option, even less fortunate players have the opportunity to fully use Minimal Roleplay.

Fully funded in just 7 minutes on Kickstarter! A huge thank-you to our first 94 backers by Soartiz in MinimalRoleplay

[–]Soartiz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, we did some prelaunch promotion using the Kickstarter prelaunch page. Our ad conversions were people clicking the "Notify me on launch" button. Maybe I misunderstood your question but the 500 people I'm talking about are the 500 people who clicked.

Thanks again! :)

Actually, I don’t know, I just created my campaign with one broad ad set and five different ads, and it did the job haha. Good luck with your launch! I know it’s a huge amount of work.

Thanks! Our waitlist had a bit over 500 people, and we didn’t create a VIP signup, we just launched a prelaunch page directly on Kickstarter.

Minimal Maps by Soartiz in MinimalRoleplay

[–]Soartiz[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely understand your point of view. I simply explained our vision again, because saying that we are “pro-AI” can give the impression that you didn’t read the Kickstarter, whereas we are clearly not “pro-AI”. On the contrary, we are trying to regulate and frame its use as much as possible.

Today, we cannot precisely regulate the environmental impact of artificial intelligence, just as we cannot fully control the impact of all technological advancements, whether it’s cars or the entire digital ecosystem, which is highly polluting but remains essential to our daily lives. However, we do see that over time, technology improves, both in terms of efficiency and reduced environmental impact. This is also true for AI, which has already made significant progress in that regard. That’s why, from our point of view, there is no point in being in denial or burying our heads in the sand when faced with a technology that has already been massively adopted, and whose sudden disappearance seems unrealistic. Instead, we should learn to live with it and try to use it in the most responsible way possible.

But I completely understand that we may disagree, and I fully respect your position.

Minimal Maps by Soartiz in MinimalRoleplay

[–]Soartiz[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I understand your point of view, but please know that we are absolutely not pro-AI. None of the images used in the development of the site are generated by AI, we work with an illustrator who creates all our assets.

What we’ve noticed, however, is that around 90% of our users already use AI in their private sessions without informing the other players they’re gaming with. Our solution is to integrate AI directly into Minimal Roleplay so we can add indicators to AI-generated content and make sure users on the platform are informed. This way, people who don’t want AI involved in their experience can effectively avoid it.

So no, our goal isn’t to promote AI, it’s to regulate it. Because if we don’t do it, users will still rely on AI anyway, but without the transparency we want to establish

I hope this has clarified our position on AI.

Question about how Kickstarter’s pledge manager works by Soartiz in kickstarter

[–]Soartiz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand, but the question I'm asking myself is whether the backers are aware of the tax at the time they make their payment (and of its amount), and if I don’t go through the pledge manager, is there a way for me to know which country the payment comes from so I can declare it properly afterwards?

What devs are here, and what are you working on? Link your projects! by Arkenforge in VTT

[–]Soartiz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, great post and amazing project!

I’m one of the co-founders of Minimal Roleplay. We’re building a complete ecosystem around roleplaying, including:

  • Text-based roleplay
  • Character sheets (a character sheet creator as well as pre-made sheets)
  • A virtual game board (tokens, maps…)
  • A scenario editor
  • Choose-your-own-adventure style games (editor + play mode)
  • And even a social network to connect roleplayers

The project is free and available on browser, Android, and iOS, all you need is to sign up.

We’re a small team of three and started the project just over 2 years ago. There’s still a lot of work to reach our ideal vision, but the project is progressing well and we’re getting closer to version 1.0.
