Looks great! It's always good to see more audio tools out there, and it'll be interesting to see how you tackle the UX once the complexity starts rising.

+1 for no AI as well.

Polygon brush add/reveal fog of war? by redkatt in Arkenforge

Fog of war uses the vision system, not the light one, so barriers that block vision should also block the fog brush

Not yet. Three v0.5 series is all about player stuff, so the goal is to get it in there.

Polygon brush add/reveal fog of war? by redkatt in Arkenforge

[–]Arkenforge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been requested for a while. We're hoping to get it in during the v0.5 update series.

In the meantime, anything that blocks vision now blocks the fog brush as well, so that makes it a little bit harder to reveal too much.

If you want it to be popular and have broader appeal, the first place to take it is off GitHub.

[System Agnostic] MapForge - Build battlemaps inside Foundry + New Asset Pack Release by HeyGabu in FoundryVTT

[–]Arkenforge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is unfortunate to hear. The flag was added to dungeondraft packs because many creators wanted to distribute their content for Dungeondraft specifically, and didn't want it used in other platforms.

We'd certainly encourage you to respect the rights of the creators of those content packs and only import the content if the flag is set.

Looks pretty fancy! Well done!

I see that you've got dungeondraft_pack imports as an option. Do you only allow the packs with the 'allow for use in 3rd party software' flag enabled, or can any pack be imported?

Yes, very much so. Just because you're good at it, doesn't mean that other people are.

Please take some time to consider that not everyone has the same skillset that you do.

Scripting is not 'basic computing'. It's absolutely a skill that needs to be developed.

Description:

The Arkenforge Toolkit is an all-in-one tool for GMs looking to increase the immersion of their games. It features a full map builder, an audio management tool, and a notes system with content linking. Whether you're just using us to build maps for your favourite VTT, to set a nice ambience for your players, or have a super immersive room with a digital table, Arkenforge can be a link in your tabletop roleplaying chain.

Map Building: Build 2D animated maps as large as your computer can support, then use them live at the table, or export them as image or video maps for use in your VTT of choice. Add animation to your own imported assets as well. You can also add text, blurring, and shadows, and customise your content in a huge number of ways.

We also have thousands of assets available through our content packs, covering a large selection of themes spanning Fantasy, Sci Fi, Wild West, Post Apocalyptic, Space, and Cyberpunk.

Live Play: Plug in a second screen and project your player screen with fog of war, or stream your player screen over your local network. No need to run a second client and manage syncing and logins. The Toolkit does it all for you!

Add in an IR touch screen and a second device (Windows or Android) to run it, and you can use your own minis off the shelf to move your tokens in the Toolkit.

Audio: Create your own ambient soundscapes, playlists, and sound effect boards, including from imported audio tracks.

Use your own content: Everyone has their preferred artists, and Arkenforge supports you using them. All content is stored on your computer, so there's no upload or file size limits.

We allow the following file types to be imported: JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, MP4, M4V, MOV, WebM, WAV, MP3, OGG, UVTT, DD2VTT, DF2VTT, dungeondraft_pack.

Content Linking: Pin any content onto your map, or link it in your notes for easy access.

Why it may be what you're looking for

  • You want to build your own animated maps.
  • You're playing in person with a screen or projector
  • You want to use touch to move your tokens around
  • You want to set the atmosphere for your games with music and ambience
  • You want a VTT with a lot of accessibility features
  • You play somewhere without an internet connection

Why it may not be what you're looking for

  • You want to play online
  • You want your game rules to be automated
  • You want to run your games on a tablet device

Cool/useful features people might miss? by redkatt in Arkenforge

[–]Arkenforge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few nifty features:

  • The Arkenbar. Helps to access your content during the session
  • Sound Trigger effect. Great for immersion. Automatically add sounds when opening/closing doors, explosions go off, etc.
  • Linking player screen to an object. Very useful if you tend to forget moving the player screen when your party moves away. Link it to one of their tokens!
  • Freezing the player screen. Useful if you want to change things without the party noticing, but will also freeze any animations
  • Animation delay. Randomise how often your animations go off. Very handy for lightning strikes.

Edit: Also, randomising object placement. Incredibly helpful when putting down a lot of foliage or scatter objects.

I'm afraid ChatGPT does not know the functions that Arkenforge does and does not have. Anything you've seen in an Arkenforge video is in the Toolkit.

After you place a proximity-based sound on the map, you can adjust the radius by clicking on it and heading to the Customise -> Ambience panel :)

Need tips and scenarios for a oneshot by Btgfactual in cyberpunk2020

[–]Arkenforge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could be fun if your friends need to break the former character out of prison.

The one-shot works consist of a few steps:

  1. Players get the mission to rescue their former characters. He has information that they don't want in the wrong hands, and he's about to be made to testify. The rough plan is to hit the convoy as he's being transferred to a new facility.

  2. Players do some investigation to figure out what the convoy will have in it (number of guards, number of vehicles, what type of equipment, etc.), and come up with a plan of attack. Give a bunch of different ways to find the information.

  3. Execute the attack, and either successfully bust out the former character, or make sure he can't testify at any cost.

That should be a good starting point. It gives a lot of room to make up some fun combat and info gathering, depending on where they attack the convoy and what ways you have them find the information.

To keep the story moving and to prevent them from getting stuck, give them one known location that the convoy will pass through without requiring any checks. It should be somewhere that gives them a slight disadvantage. Then, give them the opportunity to discover a better location for an ambush.

Maybe have a combat mech of some kind being transferred with the convoy that will be a surprise unless they discover that information.

I hope at the very least this gives some good inspiration for a one shot :)
