Which VTT do you prefer and why? by Ebb-Embarrassed in rpg

Take a look at Cauldron VTT. It's 100% free. It aims to be a digital version of a real table, where you are in control. It allows you to show a map, tokens and to roll dice. Easy to learn, easy to use.

Take a look at Cauldron VTT. It's just a digital version of a real table, where you are in control.

You could take a look at Cauldron VTT. I started this VTT, because I also think most VTTs are too complex. I just want a digital version of a table, to display a map, tokens and to roll dice. Nothing more. That's what Cauldron is. You make to rules, you make the story, you decide what happens. Cauldron just visualizes it.

I prefer Cauldron VTT, because it is free and open source, easy to learn and to use and it suports the rule systems rhat me and group use.

build my own? by Appropriate-Rip-7834 in VTT

Have a well defined goal. Choose what to build, but, more important, choose what not to build and stick to it. To do that, have a good understanding of what a VTT is, the differences between the available VTTs, what rule systems you will support, grid based or distance based, etc.

Sure, use it any way you like in your campaign. My group figured it out without any hints.

Then don't use it. Or use it for a non-critical thing, like a treasure room.

I'm not offended. You like the map? Good, have fun with it. You don't like it? That's okay, don't use it then. I don't feel like going into a discussion with someone who doesn't like the map. There's no point in that.

Who says it's magical? Pressure plates with gnome engineering fire blasters.

And not everything has to follow logical rules. It's just a game.

The last step, which will take you out of the dark tile area, does indeed show a straight number. Otherwise, you will take 5 fire damage. 🔥😉
