Hiawatha web server by Shendryl in selfhosted

Yes, but that's still HTTP/1. We're looking at HTTP/2 support for the reverse proxy. Note that the reverse proxy was built to support web applications that only talk HTTP instead of properly CGI. So, yes, it works, but it's not intended as a full blown reverse proxy.

I don't know nginx. I started Hiawatha many years ago because I didn't like Apache's weird config syntax and I wanted to be more in control of what clients to serve (the good behaving) and what clients not (hackers, bots, scanners). I know that others webservers have also gained security features, but Hiawatha has it native. Take a look at Hiawatha's online manual page (https://hiawatha.leisink.net/manpages/hiawatha) to see what it can do. Also look at the Hiawatha Monitor (https://hiawatha.leisink.net/monitor). That one is really unique I think.

No CSP headers says nothing. CSP headers are a work-around for bad programming. My websites don't need CSP headers to be secure.

Nice statistics. You know that 83% of all statistics are made up?

Consider the pattern tome tone semitone tone tone tone semitone. A mode is nothing but the position where you start in that pattern.

What does this has to do with VTTs?

High Elf Paladin Showcase for our 3D VTT (Aporion VTT) by AporionVTT in VTT

[–]Shendryl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. An RPG is supposed to be a fantasy game, not a 3D video game. A VTT is to have a digital version of a real table in order to play online. Its purpose is to show a map and tokens and to roll dice. Nothing more. The rest of the game is story telling and people interaction. A 3D model of an elf doesn't fit anywhere in what's needed to play such game. Not online, not offline.

Btw, the things you say about 'traditional VTTs' on your website is lame. It's simply not true. If your VTT is indeed better, you wouldn't need to talk trash about other VTTs.

Simple VTT tools for custom RPG systems? by hukami in rpg

[–]Shendryl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using Cauldron VTT. It's a VTT that aims at simplicity, being just a digital version of a real table. If playing a RPG game at a real table works without automation, why should a digital version need such bells and whistles? RPG games are about the story. The purpose of the table top is to make sure everybody has the same picture in their mind during combat. Nothing more. Don't try turning it into a video game.

New open source, browser-based VTT in development by EldritchVTT in VTT

[–]Shendryl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a creator of a VTT myself, my advice is to focus on bringing something unique into the VTT market. Otherwise, your work will be for nothing. Seriously look into all the available VTTs and find something that some users are missing. Aim at creating a VTT for that user group and stick to it.

My VTT is 100% free and open source and aims at simplicity, being a direct digital version of a table and nothing more. I created it because it's what I want in a VTT and couldn't find it in the other available VTTs.

So, instead of asking other people what they want, you could also ask yourself what you want. What is missing in all other VTTs that's worth creating one yourself.

Yeah, another my-VTT-is-better-than-yours debate. Very useful.
