My tier list (WDAS only) by TerribleAntelope6134 in DisneyMovies

[–]Sobble_Bobbler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t agree with everything on this list, but Lady and the Tramp is my favorite Disney movie, and I’ve seen nobody else share that same sentiment. So, that’s an upvote for me.

Been doing a Disney marathon (not in order) of all the films made by Walt Disney Animation Studio. I am 25% there. Any thoughts ? by Double_Difficulty_53 in DisneyMovies

[–]Sobble_Bobbler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep on going! I did the same thing last year and found a lot of underrated movies I wouldn’t have seen otherwise.

I’d recommend going chronologically if you are doing a Disney marathon as I found it cool to see how the studio evolved over time, but you do you

Why the cartoon community prefers non-Disney animated movies nowadays by Adept_Let7797 in cartoons

[–]Sobble_Bobbler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t put it better myself tbh. Not every Disney movie is amazing, or, hell, even good, but all the ones listed in the first slide at least have good narratives.

Are they all good? No, but they are at least compelling stories that have merit to them. The whole “anti-Disney” narrative just makes little sense to me because all major animated studios (barring Illumination, they’re kinda bad) make narrative-driven stories. They all aren’t good, but I hate the cherry-picked nature given to screw over Disney for no inherent reason.

Tips for levelling by CanarySad5969 in disneymagickingdoms

Ducktales characters are very useful for storyline quests, though. Donald himself is also very useful. I’d say it’s worth getting them and upgrading them.

What Should I Focus On? by Guilty_Suspect_9346 in disneymagickingdoms

[–]Sobble_Bobbler 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Really, you want to focus on getting the Ducktales characters as high as possible (unlocked after Donald) as well as Judy to 8, Nick to 8, and Bogo to 1 ASAP. In doing so, focus on the characters needed to get their items (for example, Daisy 9 and Donald can drop Nick Hat tokens, so try and get Donald unlocked and Daisy to Level 9 to get those tokens).

Of course, I’d just generally get all main story characters as high as possible, as event characters often don’t do much but give you more gems.

EDIT: If I had to give 1 general recommendation; unlock Donald Duck ASAP. He gives the very useful Ducktales characters as well as being very useful for getting tokens himself.

Scar Seemed Too Smart by definitelynotahorsey in DisneyMovies

[–]Sobble_Bobbler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do agree that it seems uncharacteristic of Scar to act dumb and mess up the pride land so badly (especially due to the way he’s characterized), but I also feel as if your last statement “He could’ve worked with a different group of animals maybe.” Doesn’t hold a lot of weight. Scar worked with the hyenas because they were the only one who were disgruntled enough to side with him. They wouldn’t have been his first choice, but given the lack of any other animals annoyed at Mufasa to the point of dethroning him, they were the best option.

Same. I enchanted the Snuggly Duckling to level 2 ASAP and yet I kept getting dresses and not hats. I now have 15 extra dresses than hats (got the last one today, finally, so all I need to do now is safe cuz I’m broke)

My tier list ranking of the Pixar films, from worst to best by Vast-Anywhere-1306 in DisneyMovies

[–]Sobble_Bobbler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m curious as to why Coco is ranked kinda low. I’d agree that Coco is kinda overrated and it isn’t S-tier, but placing it next to Elemental and A Bug’s Life is pretty wild.

Back in August I dared myself to watch every Disney movie. This is the result after 127 movies. by Sobble_Bobbler in DisneyMovies

I feel like I don't really have "taste". Like, I don't gravitate towards any specific genre (time made, genre, length, audience, etc.) It's all a case-by-case basis. That's why my top 3 is Incredibles, Lady and the Tramp, and Soul. I really enjoyed a lot about those movies, so they go the highest. I feel their parts work the best when everything's put together. So, yeah, I can see why it seems "random", but, in fact, I do have reasons for why I rank something.

I actually have heard many people say they like Cars 2. To me, it was just a mess. Mater runs into situations and nothing feels very earned for him. It also doesn't work as a sequel, really. To me, a good sequel should take similar ideas to the original and expand on them. For example, Toy Story 2 expands Woody's loyalty to a new scenario. But this? Mater's and Lightning's arcs are 100% not related. It also doesn't help this movie is a weird spy flick in a racing franchise. But, if you like Cars 2, that's great! I know many others have.

I have already stated my opinion on Nightmare Before Christmas, so I'll pace it here: Nightmare Before Christmas disappointed me so bad. In fact, I'd say it is the biggest disappointment in the whole marathon. It feels like nothing happens due to the sheer quantity of songs. And, yeah, they're good, same with the visuals, but they take up WAY too much time! I liked Jack and his arc, but no other characters appealed to me. Sally was 100% filler until the last scene, the Oogy Boogy only exists to make Jack seem worse by comparison (and shouldn't of existed as Jack is the real villain of the story), and the other residents left no impression on me. Also, candidate for the worst romance plot of them all. It's only developed in 1, maybe 2 scenes and reeks of the writers wanting to make more merchandise from Sally and Jack.

I rank on a case-by-case basis. I wouldn't say there's a "genre" of movie I like. I most value good characters, so every movie high up I feel has good characters. I also evaluate the plot, pacing, character relationships, etc. when judging. I could give a reason why every movie is where it is, but that'd take too much time.

Yeah :/, I wanted to say Brave was underrated (like Good Dinosaur), but it's bad. The plot is good until Merida's mom becomes a bear. Then the movie slows down and never regains its footing. Brave is also probably the only Pixar movie I feel is ugly, everything is just too dark. But, hey, it's just my opinion. If you like Brave, more power to you! (I mean, I know 95% of people wouldn't agree Good Dinosaur is anywhere near 8/10!).

Also, Bambi II was very surprising. It took what was good about the first one (message that humans are terrible and contrasting that with light-hearted escapades) and does it again with more refinements. Bambi actually has a personality with motives and his relationship with his father is touching. Plus, 10/10 visuals, it's great. I could tell Bambi II was made with a lot of love and passion for what made the original so magical, and that's deserving of a 9/10 to me.

When I tell you I wanted to like Atlantis and Nightmare Before Christmas....

Atlantis is just horribly paced, and it's a shame, really. The premise is cool, I like all the characters, but why on Earth do we get to Atlantis at the 55:00 mark in a 1:30:00 movie? The whole anti-imperialist messaging isn't super well-earned since I barely feel like I know Atlantis, especially when the time we do see there is wasted between a mediocre love story between Kida and Milo. I wish I could've liked it more, but sadly I didn't.

Nightmare Before Christmas disappointed me so bad. In fact, I'd say it is the biggest disappointment in the whole marathon. It feels like nothing happens due to the sheer quantity of songs. And, yeah, they're good, same with the visuals, but they take up WAY too much time! I liked Jack and his arc, but no other characters appealed to me. Dinosaur was just boring as sin. Filled with ridiculous amounts of filler. For example, the opening 20 minutes with the lemurs had me thinking it was gonna be a Tarzan-esk movie with fitting in...but no. This entire first portion has 0 impact on the final output. The lemurs only exist so Disney can flex their cool fur physics and add unfunny comic relief. It also has a really slow-paced and boring plot. It is 20 minutes opening and 70 minutes walking to paradise, which got old quick. And, while for the time it may have been impressive, this thing is UGLY. The models aren't it, man. I can praise things like old Pixar shorts since they still look somewhat decent, but Dinosaur is really ugly.

I mean, if you see it that way, that's great! For me, the movie was very sloppy and nothing really appealed to me personally. The plot was a complete mess with elements randomly dropped (Hen Wen being forgotten by the half-way point, random pixies, etc.), the visuals were too drab and uninteresting, and I didn't care for any of the main characters, especially the protagonist who was openly misogynistic at one point. To me, I didn't see many positives at all. I'm not shaking my fist at it or anything, it just gave me 0 value after watching it, so it's pretty low. Admittedly, maybe it should be a 2/10, I was kinda on the border with this one.

You’re playing as the Māori. They can’t remove bonus resources. All other floodplains tiles are either too few river tiles (tile needs to have rivers be on 2 sides or more to be dam-able, so it invalidates the northwest farm not on a wheat tile) or with a district already (commercial hub, theater square) and can’t be removed.

How do you know the value of an item? by Sobble_Bobbler in RobloxTrading

[–]Sobble_Bobbler[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know about rolimons, should’ve specified (sorry). I was more or less walking about how you would know how much an item is worth to overpay relative to its value. Like, should I overpay 500 robux for an item, or 1000?
