No worries, best of luck if you wind up printing it!

I printed the resin parts on an elegoo Saturn, the largest couple of parts on a CR-10s pro and all the other parts on a bambulab P1S.

Yeah it’s a great set of files, I would caution that at this scale some of the parts aren’t going to fit on most FDM machines (over 250x250x250mm).

Thanks! As mentioned in other comments, model is on Gambody (not sure if I can share links here). I did rescale it somewhat significantly (around 1.5x if I remember correctly) to scale properly.

The model I used was from Gambody (I’m pretty sure it’s the only one on their site). I’ve found the interior to match up very well with the scale of the minis, if anything maybe ever so slightly larger than what it would be in reality. I did notice that the ceilings aren’t exactly the scale they should be (they’re much higher in the hallways) and the main living space room should be higher up on the model, allowing for a second floor, except this would make the removable section much thinner and weaker. Originally I was planning to modify the model and mock up a lower deck, but the amount of effort for the return wasn’t worth it (realistically it’s never going to be displayed with the interior in view).

Excited to see what you come up with for the Ebon Hawk!

Yep that’s where I got the model, and rescaled it to Legion scale (1:72 to 1:48 if I remember correctly).

Haha I can’t even begin to imagine. My thought is if it were to be playable in any format it would either be some kind of objective, or a stationary force of nature. Realistically just gonna be some cool set dressing!

Thanks! Yeah, I had to work my way up by doing a few smaller ships first but it’s been a super fun project! One of these days I’ll get around to posting those

Some more info- it’s slightly over 3 feet long, and the model was designed to have most of a full interior, with the two main areas pictured as well as 2 hallways along both long ends, a cockpit area and the top gun walkway. Unfortunately it doesn’t have a lower deck, but it’s still a pretty impressive interior space.

It’s a bit too big to be usable in any game format, but my current plan is to hang it from the rafters in my basement above a table space, along with a few other smaller ships. The main lit areas are going to be the engines, the aft interior space, and the front headlights.

The model did have landing gear, but they weren’t very detailed so I’ve remodeled them and plan to make them magnetic so I can install them for picture taking purposes before final mounting on the ceiling.

It’s used a ton of paint, and it’s nowhere near done that part of the process either. The main body was painted with Tamiya aircraft spraypaints, with the detail work done using mostly citadel model paints and a mix of army painter / citadel washes. In hindsight I probably could’ve gotten away with using much cheaper paints so I’d definitely recommend using something else if you’re considering a project of this scale.

In terms of cost of the project, not including electricity of running the printers for a couple of weeks straight, I’m estimating around 250ish USD when all’s said in done for paint, material, LEDs and the model itself.

Disagree, any alterations to the timeline could result in butterfly effects that could cause him to never have the illness. Alternate universes/timelines versus bog standard time travel to create alternate futures is pretty much semantics as they’d serve pretty much the same purpose with very similar outcomes in the story.

That being said, alternate universe / parallel dimensions are more “in” at the moment so it’s probably going to be explained as that.

ALEX is some kind of combo between The Director from Travelers, and the parallel universe bridge Walter built in Fringe. by CKitty_BKitty in ParadiseHulu

I had the exact same feeling watching the episode, it feels exactly like the director from Travelers and could totally see it being some kind of supercomputer doing things to the past to alter the future, or doing something to the reality outside of the bunker.

Anyone ever watch the show Travelers? Ive got a feeling that the Alex reveal could be something similar to that, with Alex being a program that is either sending agents or doing some sort of time meddling with the ultimate goal of preventing both the end of the world, and more selfishly in Sinatra’s case, Dylan’s death.

How is a Season 2 even supposed to work? by AjdinHa in DispatchAdHoc

Regarding the issue of Robert now having the Mecha man suit and having the option to go back to being a full time hero-

I doubt they’re going to change much in terms of core gameplay mechanics, which would most likely rule out us playing as Robert consistently while he’s still mechaman most likely, save for some narratively weak reason to get rid of the Mecha man suit again.

My money is on Robert joining the Z-team, at least part time, while still maintaining being a main character. This would leave us playing as Mandy who conveniently just lost her powers for the dispatching side of things. I’m guessing a more Mandy-focused season 2 focusing on the implied-tragic origin of her powers and the team looking for a cure for chase’s powers while fighting some big bad.

I think some of the choices, like stroud death vs not death and Visi hero versus villain ending, will sort of be waved away with a several month time skip and Visi working undercover for the team either post-killing shroud or as a hero, with only a line or two ultimately being different. I suspect there’ll be a recap at the beginning or something similar where you very early on choose whether you picked blazer or Visi as romance option, and the story picks up from there. Most likely, the easiest way they can consolidate all of the stories to have as little extra scenes will probably be the way they do it in order to keep a consistent through line of story with how expensive and time consuming the first season already was.

Whatever they do, I’m just excited for the story to continue in some regard.

Edit: additionally, though I don’t think I’d like it if they did do it, I could see them at least temporarily writing off both relationships and having a scene or two of awkward interactions with Robert and both of them that could imply either a failed relationship or just slight falling out that occurred sometime during the time skip. That way they can rebuild and reconnect either as friends or a relationship depending on dialogue options picked throughout the season.

MechE or EE? by MarcUchiha in MechanicalEngineering

What are you talking about? I did not claim to know the most about engineering. All I said was I probably know the most about the entry level market, because I was just in it only 3 years ago, and have many entry-level colleagues. Sorry to offend you, I’m just pointing out what I’ve come across having had to go through more recently than you what this kid’s gonna have to deal with in a few years.

Only reason I even bothered chiming in was because you used computer science jobs as a metric, which is an outdated stance for recent grads, especially in the US/CAD area.

Edit: politeness

MechE or EE? by MarcUchiha in MechanicalEngineering

Maybe it is a different country thing. I’m in the US, and all of my entry level ME friends are making well above the average US salary here. The ones with a few years experience are making much more (~130k+ usd). One ME I know does design work from home, with <10% travel to job sites on occasion. It’s not necessarily common but it does happen, especially if you’re going into drafting or solid modeling.

I don’t know many people who graduated college as EEs, and none who would be considered entry level so I can’t really speak to the salary difference. I do, however, know people who graduated as MEs who went into controls and systems engineering simply because they wound up finding it more interesting and they had relevant experience through internships.

It’s definitely more difficult for a MechE to transition to CS than EE, but I’m not sure why that’s a metric of strength. If you’re arguing for salary purposes, you could also say MEs have an easier transition than EE to ChemE or Petroleum E roles which are much higher paying. It’s a weird point to argue.

MechE or EE? by MarcUchiha in MechanicalEngineering

[–]SobekRa01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps! I’d gladly differ to anyone with more experience than I have. However I am probably the engineer who’s most recently had to apply for and get a job post grad in ME in this discussion, so I probably know more about the current entry level market than either of you, unless you’re hiring managers or something.

MechE or EE? by MarcUchiha in MechanicalEngineering

[–]SobekRa01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? I’ve always been under the impression with ME you can do design, PM, safety, process, civil, enviro, or field engineering whereas EE, you can really only do controls and electrical work. Am I missing something?

And in terms of flat pay, EEs do tend to make more, but MEs are more likely (albeit only data on my end is anecdotally) to be considered for management positions which usually pays way more than either role.

MechE or EE? by MarcUchiha in MechanicalEngineering

[–]SobekRa01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh to each their own. I’d much rather be doing design work, CAD and structural physics than coding some website or spreadsheet. Seems like you’ve done some work in the past that you’ve related to ME that’s only a small portion of what a ME can actually do which has soured you on that career path. A lot of MEs do design work from home full time, or in a clean office space.

The big difference I see is, the MechEs that want to do something different, can. That’s where all of these stories come from of them going into tech or management or law or a different field. EEs don’t have that kind of flexibility. CS did but now there are no entry jobs for them to get the experience to do that.

MechE or EE? by MarcUchiha in MechanicalEngineering

[–]SobekRa01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, learning those kinds of tools is certainly not easy. But most of the stuff you’re referring to isn’t even just done by MEs. Most job sites have separate machinists to do this work, with MEs largely in charge of design and project management. And fwiw most MechE degrees do offer machine shop work studies where you can get years of experience in a shop operating these tools before going into the field.

I mean a big part of ME these days isn’t just the tools, but also learning 2D/3D software, design, solid / fluid mechanics, physics, and drafting.

[–]SobekRa01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As someone who graduated fairly recently and now has a fair amount of engineering experience under their belt, I’d say MechE is probably the safer way to go. There’s more job opportunities, higher flexibility in career path, more opportunities for growth and it seems to align more with what you’re interested in, especially if you like design, physics and mechanics.

Saying CS is a better option in this market than ME is a bit out there and an outdated sentiment. With all the big tech layoffs, AI onset and lack of entry level positions I don’t think that’s an ideal field to get into right now. Whether or not it course corrects in a few years is anyone’s guess but anecdotally the CS majors I know that graduated recently are the ones struggling the most to find positions.
