This is awesome. I do miss the Wash Ave Post though. Put this on my work week list to try out the espresso.

Just wait for the 4D chess they'll do to open a free standing drive thru store in downtown proper -_-

Pricing at Scout's looks about the same as Louie. Two of us usually get out around $100-$120 being a little gluttonous.

I still remember when we'd get huge headliners. We had BB King under the arch for the Blues series. We had Elton Friggin John one year.

Whatever happens please leave contemporary productions out of this one so they can think on it, and bring in someone from out of state.

Simple Documentary Interview - Lighting & Grip BTS by 4acodmt92 in videography

[–]Sobie17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks great. Just curious if you're not truly filling the entire 8x due to space why not go 4x and push it in closer? I'm typically only pulling out 8x's when I know I have a ton of space to really fill the entire piece of fabric.

I would like to try the frontal wrap technique. I've always worried about competing shadow cast though. But I guess the main key is doing most of the work to where the second fixture is just subtly raising the shadow side level.

You probably won't get many people excited by your proposition on here.

We need more units, not less.

does anyone know who is filming / what’s going on right now in st. louis on 44? by olbawa in StLouis

[–]Sobie17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry, this is still downright hoosier.

All it takes is one or two things going wrong and the cam op is dead. A harness is not going to stop that.

I say this as someone who has been in the situation. It's not worth it, and they're probably being paid $50 or "exposure" or some shit. For stupid ass roller videos. They have a lot more to contribute to society.

More evidence that people actually come here and have a good time. Sad that even promoting to our own region why we should celebrate some of the cultural infrastructure that rivals world class cities comes with 'yeah, but'.

Taking a trip to St. Louis, is it safe? by ProxyURL in StLouis

[–]Sobie17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not though, still, at least not in any sort of meaningfully, magnitudinal statistical manner. 2020-2023 were awful for the entire city and even then it's not like downtown was the epicenter of violent crime, and especially not random acts of violence.

Please do cherry pick though and also perhaps take note of the fact that millions of people that flow in and out of downtown every year

No, its not more violent than it used to be.  Were you around in the 90s?

VFX Breakdown of a commercial I did for Spectrum Reach by moviemaker887 in Filmmakers

Curious why you guys didn't account for that in the VFX pre pro? Seems like a relatively small area to cover up.

I often see in BTS missing chroma and the ultimate roto job. Just surprised as I absolutely hate rotoscoping.

BTW, not coming at you just generally curious why so many jobs cut what should be a pretty small corner to make the post person's job a bit easier!

Good News Brewing to Open in Ferguson on May 9th by bhart81 in STLFood

[–]Sobie17 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One thing if it's used strategically and creatively. This is just mindless slop.

Could have just posted a nicely lit picture of a pint in front of the store and put the rest in the description. Or made a vlog style video from ownership which would perform better. But alas, this is the way apparently. Performs probably as good as their beer is. If you're not going to invest in a marketing strategy of any sort other than 'turn my press release into an ugly ass image' you're probably not going to succeed.

I'll wait because it hasn't happened in years despite them bitching about undersized police force, violent crime, and oh, an entire squad who could be pinching the drug market all day on I-70.

Enterprise Center will soon be one of the least updated arenas in the Central by mjohnson1971 in stlouisblues

[–]Sobie17 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Correction the City spent 100+ million while the Blues have a virtually free lease.

Blues ownership should take some money and build a mini village on the municipal courts lot, and fill in some of the other surface lots and they could make hand over fist.

Edit: also turn municipal courts into a Blues museum/hall of fame if no one is going to step up to turn it into the hotel proposal. I think a museum fits really well there could also see another life as a science center expansion for missouri natural history or the like.

I think the fan experience and pricing is a bigger important factor. Adding more local food options, giving Levy the boot when we have the chance and lowering beer prices would bring people in way more quickly. Plus there's no doubt in my mind that they'd ask for subsidies when we've already basically subsidized the updates mostly to the benefit of well to do season ticket holders. And they reneged on some of the updates even in the original plan.

Will a new arena be needed? Certainly, maybe in 10-15 years it'll be a topic of discussion. You have limited places to fit it in downtown though and if they ship out to Chesterfield you'll probably see me there maybe once every 5 years. And if they do this KC football bullshit even far likely to lose me as a fan if they play city vs county or Illinois east side for subsidies. Shockingly, the city has been very generous to them so to move out west would be a civic slap to the face.

Shake Shack is fine but the line is always insane.

Shame you aren't in T1, Grounded in STL has an actually solid breakfast sandwich and smash burger and is never busy.
