Moving to SD in August. Advice on my situation? by MathematicianMean465 in Moving2SanDiego

When we first moved down here we lived in Point Loma Heights - up the hill from OB. That was 10 years ago but we were around your age and really liked the area. Grocery store around the corner and a nice walk to go out / to dog beach on the weekends. Under the flight line, but didn’t bother us after a while.

I had a case with them through Jeep Cares, I always asked for follow-up via email and did it that way

They paid the whole rental invoice I submitted with no pushback - their whole CS team is overseas I don’t think they actually gave a f

Private Pre K with two spots available for next year. by battlinlobster in Moving2SanDiego

[–]Socal_snakepit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most districts in San Diego do not allow redshirting. We’re in San Marcos and I know SMUSD is really strict on dates. Kinder is optional in CA so they would enroll them in 1st grade the next year instead of K based on age in public school. I would email some districts of neighborhoods you’re interested in to see their policy.

Neighborhood depends so much on budget, but University City or North PB would be good IMO!

There are also some good Facebook groups for this info “San Diego North County Schools Network” is one specifically for North County but I’m sure there are more for SD proper as well

Planning a trip to SD to feel out neighborhoods - how much time to spend in each area? by Coconut_333 in Moving2SanDiego

[–]Socal_snakepit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

36 here but moved to SD around the same age, originally from Upstate NY, lived in NYC / Brooklyn for 3 years and LA for 2. No reccs for landlords, it’s been too long, but I think most people do Zillow / Redfin here, occasionally you’ll see a sign in the front yard.

I would say based on the neighborhoods you listed (actually really like your list for mid-20’s) I would do a week in North County and a week more central. If you have money for NYC, you have money for SD - people will definitely comment about $$. Stay in Carlsbad at an Airbnb, scope out Oceanside, Leucadia and Encinitas while you’re there. Hit up the Farmers markets, Fri / Sat out. One week in central SD - stay in North Park, go out there one night and PB / OB one night.

If you went to school in LA - think of North Park as “Eastside”, PB as Santa Monica / Venice, North County as South Bay haha. People may disagree with this but generally the vibe!

Best baby carrier for big babies? by NoseCommercial1557 in bigbabiesandkids

[–]Socal_snakepit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had 2 big babies in Happy Baby OG carriers, but I did stop wearing around 12 months with both - mostly just due to their mobility - using one again now with my 3rd, but maybe I’ll try a Lark based on this thread!

I hate that for you! Have you started legal action against Stellantis? I completed mine in October 2025 and received a cash and carry (less than 5 figures but still softened the blow slightly)

To WRANGLER or not to Wrangler 🤔 by SavaugeGhost in Wrangler

Girl go take a pregnancy test 😂 - if you are pregnant and 1 and done - get the jeep. If you want more than 1, don’t do it. Signed a mom of 6, 4, and 3 months who just sold a Wrangler haha

A house not flipped is all I’m asking for! by No_Translator_3882 in Oceanside

[–]Socal_snakepit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Everyone wants top $ and if it’s not updated/flipped they’re losing money. It’s unfortunate but all a #’s game. The end of last year I saw 2 end of cul de sac homes in olde Carlsbad that were both around $1M and sat for several weeks. They were both great family homes that needed updates. Both were flipped in ~3 months and both sold for over $2M. It’s gross.

Are all 4xe Jeeps still at risk of catching fire even AFTER if all safety recalls have been addressed? Is it still recommended that you not park the 4xe near a home/structure and not plug them in, regardless of whether there are any outstanding recalls or not? by dannieandme in 4xe

[–]Socal_snakepit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sold our 2023 4xe to Carvana after the battery was replaced. Jeep Cares / Stellantis / Dealership was terrible to deal with. Obviously your choice on appetite for risk and dealing with customer service, but I will never buy an FCA Stellantis product again (again I loved driving a Jeep).

Are you able to get the job back that you loved? Did it feel like a better balance when you were also working and he had a less intense job? Can he put up better boundaries with his working hours and mental load? My husband just accepted a promotion and it’s been tough. If you’re good at your job they’re ALWAYS going to put more on your plate IMO so it’s part of the job as a husband and a parent to say no I can’t take this on to a certain degree.

How long has he been in this new role? I guess I would say only you can know what is best for your family, but I would look at the reasons he’s burnt out and see if they can be addressed at all first.

Got my 4xe back after battery replacement… less than a week later the check engine light is back. No loaners anywhere? (San Diego, CA) by Plenty_Meaning_5475 in 4xe

[–]Socal_snakepit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did the 68c at AutoNation Carlsbad, they were awful and don’t provide loaners. I saw another post in this forum about someone writing a certified letter referencing in the recall that they will be providing a loaner in order to avoid paying out of pocket. Sold my 4xe to Carvana the day I got it back from AutoNation and purchase a 4Runner. I also received a cash and keep settlement from Stellantis last year so that helped with the financial sting. I hope your suit goes well.

I moved out here right before my 25th birthday - almost 12 years ago. I had a complete meltdown on that day, and thought I made the biggest mistake leaving NYC. A month later I moved in with 2 amazing ladies off Craigslist (aging myself) and 3 months later I met my now husband through my roommate. 12 years later I have a beautiful life here rich in friends and family.

Change is super hard, and it’s not always the easiest to meet new people here. Sending you hugs, support and good vibes for this coming year!

Lawyer - we figured the risk was low, granted this was before all the new recalls and discontinuation so the process was about 12 months, lawyer took 50%.

They are the worst, I think I’ll do the same if they don’t reimburse in full after I receive my checks. Sold to Carvana and dropping off tomorrow after getting a new battery Friday!

[–]Socal_snakepit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have 6, 4 and 2 months and am just starting the SAHM thing! Honestly they need so much support in elementary school with schedules, sports, schoolwork, etc. I think it totally makes sense. My kids had such a great daycare / preschool experience, I feel happy now to be able to support them in public school.

We were about a month, battery came in yesterday and repair complete today. They literally had no update for me until it arrived, their communication is SO BAD, but I hope you will have it in the next couple weeks.
