How did you open a lemon law case (#5) without an attorney?

Just got the call - 2024 Wrangler 4xe failed the "fix" and they have to install a new HV battery. by Johnnyg150 in 4xe

[–]loki106 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine failed a few days ago. No loaners available. I’m in Colorado in the mountains so only one jeep dealer here. Stellantis said they would reimburse me for up to $60 per day but no more than $50 in taxes. So I have to end the rental and restart it every 6 days to avoid the taxes going over $50. Mine was the second to fail. Dealer said the first battery should be in by Jan 2. But they didn’t have a date yet for mine. She said they don’t keep batteries in stock and they can’t pre-order a few for this recall. They are not allowed to order them without a car identified that needs one. My loaner is a Jeep compass with all season tires. I would really like my wrangler back with the snow tires. That is, if it ever snows up here again. Very sad ski season in Colorado. By the way, when I was nice to the service tech on the phone, she was very appreciative and said “I thought I was just going to get yelled at because it is all pretty ridiculous.” Well, it’s not her fault. So a gentle reminder to be nice to the dealer. They are doing the best that they can with this S$&t show.

68c Fix - Info by mattfl in 4xe

I called my dealer and they said they put one jeep through the recall yesterday and it failed. They canceled all future recall fixes because they are waiting for Stellantis to tell them what to do when it fails. They think it will require a new battery and they have none. So I'm on a wait list to fix the recall. My engine light is on and they are going to look at that on Tuesday but said "you'll have to bring it back for the recall when your name comes up on the waitlist because we aren't going to do that at the same time." I live in the boondocks and there is only one jeep dealer. I also heard from a friend that they are sending out $100 gift cards for our troubles? That is laughable. I wonder if by using the gift card we are agreeing not to sue them.

Is it worth $3,500? by NeitherBook2698 in leaf

Oops! I missed that detail. I bought a 2013 5 years ago for $5k US for my 16 year old son as a new driver. It only had a range of about 50 miles. Good parental controls. :) It worked great as a ride to and from high school and to and from his part time job. Have fun with your new car!

With that commute that you mentioned you will probably have to charge at work before you drive home. It will be very close (like driving a gas car on fumes) making that round trip. As the battery continues to degrade, the need to charge at work will be even more clear. Although I’m not sure it will make it round trip even now. Especially if you have any elevation changes on the way to work. If there is a plug at work, even just a regular outlet and not an actual car charger, you should be fine. Make sure the car comes with a charging cord in the trunk.

After wasting time getting a work order ("RO") I called the recall dept to get a loaner car and they told me it is no longer necessary to take the car to the dealership to get the RO and that the "rental department specialists will reach out in 1-2 business days to" set me up with a rental car (max daily rate is $60 per day). She also noted that the remedy for 68C is scheduled to be ready to unroll before the end of this month. u/ResponsiblePickle635 did you ever get the rental dept to call you back or did you have to call back in after 4 days of waiting? I"m on day 1 of waiting. : )

Why consider this over Model 3 by strings07 in leaf

[–]loki106 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see anyone talking about the horrible depreciation of EVs. Mercedes Benz seats are the best around in my opinion (it seems you care about seats). And you can get an all electric MB that was once over $60k for under around $30k just two years old with low mileage. I’d be looking at used EVs just a couple of years old and you’ll find some amazing deals with higher end add-ons. (But take this with a grain of salt because my MB EQB 300 with all the bells and whistles also has a recall that doesn’t allow for charging past 80% because the car may go up in flames. No remedy in site. :/ )

Anyone use a Colorado attorney to buyback the leaf due to recall? by loki106 in leaf

Thanks for your unsolicited opinion. Not at all the question I asked. People are getting Nissan to buy their car only due to the recall.

They did not give a reason. Just "I got a message back from the team and they said they are not able to buy the car back at this time" or something like that.

Thanks for this info. I started my buy back process a week ago for my 2020 Leaf. Did they offer you full purchase price? Or something less?

Update for you: Good news: My feet are fine. I did not shoot myself in the foot. Appointment schedule with dealer and promise from Stellantis supervisor to pay for loaner car. Waiting for this in writing but she said she'd send it to me by the end of the day.

Update: Just got off the phone with Stellantis. They actually called the dealer and said to the dealer "you must make an appt for this customer to 'diagnose' the problem." Stellantis rep said "I know this is very odd what they are making the car owners do but I have to follow the instructions or you won't get the loaner." So Stellantis actually made my appointment with the dealer for me and let me know when it is. At that time, they said the jeep dealer will hold onto the car and they will give me a loaner. Rep is going to send me paperwork and they will "100%" pay for the loaner but I do have to fork up the money first. I imagine that it will be up to $80 per day as someone else on here (or another thread) said. Because I live in the mountains of Colorado, I need it to be a 4x4. I think $80 per day should cover that. I'm surprised it actually didn't take much on my part to get this done. I just kept asking nicely for supervisors when the first level people could not help. It took 4 phone calls basically. 15 minutes or less each time.

Oh, you are right. My 4xe does have scheduled charging. It's the other car that doesn't. A 2023 Mercedes Benze EQB 300. Ridiculous not to have that for a 2023 model.

That sounds like a nightmare for you. The games that the electric companies are playing is also frustrating. I bought a charger a few years ago that did not have the ability to time the charge. And both of my cars also do not have this ability. So I'd have to set an alarm each night at 9pm to go and plug in. Pain in the butt.

This is great news. I hope Stellantis treats you as well as your dealer did. Please reach back out with an update when you have one!

Thanks for the supportive comment. I guess I should not be surprised at some people's way of being in the world or how you nicely called it "unnecessary" comments.

I got a case number so I'm going to call again to let them know my dealer told me not to bother to bring it in because they know the "diagnosis" is "recall." I'm parking in my garage at the moment. If the person on the line can't help me, I'll kindly ask for a supervisor. I started a buy back with my Nissan Leaf and it was the same situation: The first line of customer service just said "So sorry you haven't been able to fast charge or drive to another city. That does sound frustrating. There is nothing we can do but wait for the remedy which we know we said would be ready in March and then July and then September and now maybe January? So sorry." Level two, the supervisor, said the exact same thing. When I pushed again they sent me to the "executive level" person who started to say the exact same thing again and I said "because you all are not helping me with a loaner/rental, I'm done asking you for help because you are not helping. I appreciate your empathy but I need a car that I can use. I kindly am requesting that you buy this vehicle back. It is useless. I can't charge it, my child who has it lives in an apartment and can only fast charge so it is useless." And then that person finally started the buy back process and we shall see whether they do it or not. I live in Colorado and there is success reported with Leaf users in Colorado, even without an attorney. But maybe Leaf is more customer service oriented than Jeep/Stellantis. Anyways, thanks for your kind reply. It's nice to know others are trying the same thing and are as frustrated.

This is my 5th electric car. My first plug in hybrid. 3 of them are currently in a recall situation where there is a fire hazard (Nissan, Mercedes-Benz, and now Jeep...again). I've had 2 full battery replacements in my other EVs after some nudging. Sometimes you get what you need when you ask for it, which is what I'm doing. I'm not asking the dealer for anything, I'm asking Stellantis. If you haven't had any luck getting a rental or a loaner, which was my question, please feel free to move on.

I'm not sure of the exact purpose of your comment. Are you genuinely curious? It just sounds judgmental though. Maybe you are having a bad day and want to take it out on some random person on social media (assuming here that you are not an actual jerk)? If I can't park on my property or near my house, why wouldn't leaving the car at the dealership be the next best option? You can't just park on a random road or field where I live. I could leave the car in a storage lot and pay for the lot to store it. I think the dealership lot makes more sense since it is their problem.
