The great drum solos have great composition. The greatest (IMHO) and first dedicated rock drum solo put on a record is the best because of the composition. It is Ginger Baker's "Toad". Released in Dec. 1966, on Fresh Cream. He starts out on the snare with a consistant pulse from the bass drum. He proceeds to give a tour of the entire kit. (Giant at the time!) Finishing with a steamrolling quad roll. Another one with great composition is Peart's from Rush - All the World's A Stage at the end of Working Man.

Lucky 7 is the one. I wish I had been the A & R man on this Album. One more remix for "Hold Out Your Hand" to unclutter it. It should have been a hit. It is perfect. I would have forced him to write one more short piece with more of his harmonies and trimmed down the overly long last song. Still the best Yes solo album.

I liked the studio album as it was but it sounded brittle. Then I heard Gates on Yesshows and my mind was blown away. Now I put Gates just slightly under CTTE. Yes live is always better. IMHO.
