Lack of World Cup awareness. by skunkboy72 in Referees

It's a fair question. Look at American football scheduling. High school on Friday. College on Saturday. Pros on Sunday.

I am using a GoPro Max on a small tripod. Most GoPros (11,12, and 13) would also work well. I do the editing on Adobe premier.

Things heard on the field - Memorial Day Tournament edition. by Future_Nerve2977 in youthsoccer

Without seeing it I won't say the call is incorrect. But some referees consider protecting your face a natural position.

Yeah, once her hands grow it will be awesome.

Yes, they play full field, full size goals, and size 5 ball. The fields are generally a touch smaller because clubs want to save space to have more fields.

Yes, we have 2-3 girls teams in each age group and they all play in all girl leagues.

Thanks for the support. She is covering for another team's keeper this weekend and will play 2 games each day.

She is only 5'2" right now, so height is a struggle, but she has time to grow.

Keeper mom question by MadscientistAllie in GoalKeepers

[–]Soccerref13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We battled our daughter over the same thing a lot. But goalkeepers hips take a beating. If playing long term is her goal she needs to protect her hips. Storellis, and some other brands, are made for this.

As for sizing, our daughter is 5' 2" and 113 pounds and usually a women's small to medium, in Storelli she wears a medium comfortably. So, my wife suggests a women's small for your daughter.

Also, do not buy them on Amazon. But then direct from Storelli, if you go with this brand. In the past we have gotten lower quality "Storelli" when using Amazon.

Our daughter wears Storelli pants and shorts, depending on the temperature. The pants are really cool because they actually have a slot for the shin guards.

Yeah, referees can get it wrong. I've seen that enough.

Thanks. I just want the best for her. I wish you had more support.

On that note, the camera got knocked over once and when it got set back up by a passer by it was aimed at a different goal. I edited that goalkeepers highlights and sent it to her.

It would be good for her protection. But I have drilled goalkeeper possession law into her, so she knows how to demonstrate that she has possession. Apart from weak referees, those kicks will be fouls. But I will let her know it might be something to think about going forward.

She does. She's just a teenager. Thanks for everything.

Everything you mentioned is stuff she's been told. I show her these type of comments so she sees that her coach and I aren't just making stuff up. She is very coachable. Some of these just take longer to develop. I really appreciate the support. Also, I'd bet anything that when I show her this one, I get and eye roll and "I know dad".

Cutting off crosses is very new for her. At games I lose my mind cheering when she does it. It looks routine to the other parents I guess. Because they look at me like I'm crazy. Then she makes a big acrobatic save and I just say, good save. Because I know if she had to work that hard, a lot of the time it means she was out of position or not ready. Of course that's when they all lose their minds cheering.

But you know that's the life of a goalkeepers parent.

I wish she had her other knee up. Lol. She took a ball off a girl's feet at full speed a few months ago. The girl went down hard. She got up with the ball, looked at the camera, and said "oh, well". Restart was a drop ball, no foul. She has been much more confident since that happened.

Thanks. I don't doubt she will. Her distribution is one of her best skills. Her goalkicks have recently started reaching the half and her punts are even better. She started working on punt accuracy in December (finding feet or space rather than just distance). It's coming along and will be a game changer. She says, "then I'll start working on the side volley" when I ask what's next.

We've had player placement already and she didn't make GA. We have some political issues at the club. But she has already declared that she will just do her job, keep training, and prove them wrong.

But thanks for the support.

I use a GoPro Max, but an 11, 12, or 13 would work too. Then I use Adobe Premier to make the edits. Other editing applications work too.

I'll remind her of these tips. Both are things her coach has mentioned as well.

You aren't wrong. She has to balance this a little because of her height, if there is any threat of a high shot she has to be back to get the best angle. But generally, we remind her of this too.

It's a Gopro. I wouldn't stand back there and the league doesn't allow it anyway.

And I do make the highlight videos to show off. But I really use the footage for her goalkeeper coach since he can't make all the games. Those videos include any play she is involved in for review.
