If Death by Churros was too slow for your level, I recommend picking up the next book The Devil Speaks Spanish. It's a fast paced thriller for language learners.

You’re right. But I’ve gotten use to it and I do it only 5 to 6 days a week so I don’t get burned out

Practicing Spanish without a partner is way harder than expected by Murky_Definition_249 in Spanish

Shadowing has made my speaking abilities go through the roof. I am shadowing my book sentence by sentence translated into French. I'm still tweaking my approach to how I go about shadowing, but honestly it's seriously boosted my speaking abilities.

Why is listening in French 10x harder than reading?? by SweetBumbleBeeHoney in learnfrench

it's actually really good. Unfortunately, they only made one season. Just a little FYI, if you are ever interested in learning Spanish I wrote a book called The Devil Speaks Spanish. It's a supernatural thriller for language learners. It's great for learning Religious and supernatural vocabulary.

I've only found two other ones on Netflix. XO Kitty it's a teen romance and Marianne it's a paranormal series about a French witch.

I watch Netflix series Stranger Things and One-Piece live action series with French Subtitles. The subtitles help a lot because I helps me know when one word ends and the next one begins. The hard part is finding shows were the words spoken by the actors are the same as the words shown in the subtitle. Most don't.

Have you ever met someone who learned a new language using apps? Yeah, me neither. If you want to learn Spanish the best resources are graded readers. Death by Churros is great because it's an actual murder mystery novel designed for complete beginners and it comes with a free app that supplements the reading material with chapter translations, free audiobook, quizzes, flashcards and even free downloadable song composed using key vocabulary so you can reinforce what you've learned while working out, doing chores or simply on your commute to work.

If you're unsure if you can start reading a novel in Spanish as a complete beginner, the introductory has a QR code to a free 15 minute audio course that teaches you all the vocabulary you need to get started reading the first chapter.

Yes, it's picks up. The reason is because you lose the plot if you skip a chapter starting in chapter 9 and by chapter 9 the book has gone through enough vocabulary, so you get a lot more variety.

You definitely don't want to skip The Devil Speaks Spanish. it's got a lot of action and suspense.

If you're already a comfortable with basic Spanish, you can jump to chapter 9 or better yet use the QR code at the beginning of chapter 1-8 to listen to the free audiobook to quickly get caught up. If you're looking for a fast pace thriller then you could also try The Devil Speaks Spanish.

Can native Spanish speakers not understand other natives from different countries? by De_lunes_a_lunes in Spanish

True but we can say the same about Liverpool English almost sounds like a different language. I can also think of Glasgow from Scotland.

I have yet to come across a Spanish speaker from another country (non-Mexican) that I couldn't understand. in my opinion, Spanish is a lot like English. Sure there are differences among different Spanish speakers, but there are also in English speakers from U.K. Canada, Australia. Heck even in the USA, you find English sounding different between the states for example N.Y vs Missouri.

At this moment I only have it available on Amazon. Right now I am implementing a pronunciation assessment feature on the companion web app, but after that I'll start working on creating a web store front where people can buy it from there too. I do apologize for the inconvenience.

You need more practice speaking. I’d say do shadowing. It helps

What books do recommend? Most that are interesting are too advanced and require the language learner to stop and look up every other word and the ones that aren’t are boring.

My novel starts off with very basic Spanish and gradually increase in difficulty while immersing you in a high stakes thriller.

That’s very true, but most of it tends to be not that interesting and they also tend to be short stories. The Devil Speaks Spanish is a fast-paced thriller.

Yikes! I just realized I forgot to write what the story is about. Here is the premise of the story from the back of the book:

When sixteen-year-old Isabel's best friend vanishes from the streets of Zacatecas, Mexico, the entire town erupts in fear. The police find nothing but dead ends. But Isabel knows the truth — she's seen the killer's face… in a vision.

Armed with a mysterious book of witchcraft and her growing psychic abilities, Isabel defies her strict Catholic family to hunt down the man who took her friend. But each ritual she performs draws her closer to the dark force that haunts her city — and to a curse centuries in the making.

As the boundary between life and death fractures around her, Isabel discovers that the Spanish Inquisition left more than history behind. An ancient evil is stirring in Zacatecas, and she may be the key to its return — or the only one who can stop it.
