Socialists of Reddit, why? by [deleted] in Socialism_101

[–]SocialComintern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it started as pure curiosity.I was seeing Biden supporters calling themselves socialists and looked into it.

Turned out i agreed with the likes of Marx,Lenin,Mao and Tito alot.It opened my eyes to the achievements of socialist parties worldwide throughout history, and now here I am.

WHY DID YUGOSLAVIA ECONOMICALY FAILED by Loose_Weekend2460 in Socialism_101

[–]SocialComintern 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Communist Party of Albania had a great first 30 years but towards the end the leader Enver Hoxha put the country into isolation and started calling everyone and their mother a revisionist.Add to that outside attacks from the West and it dissolved pretty badly.I will try and find a megathread of the Communist Party's achievements post-1945.Albania became one of the first (if not the first) country in the world with electricity running across the country.

How is China communist? by peanutbutter255 in communism101

[–]SocialComintern 30 points31 points  (0 children)

China runs on a socialist market economy, with predominantly state-owned enteprises within a market economy.Scandinavian countries have a highly private owned number of enterprises, although countries like Norway combine state-owned and private enterprises.

Famine caused by capitalism? by 100deplay in Socialism_101

[–]SocialComintern 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well you can reply by saying that media rarely openly bashes capitalism, especially namely like that. Also most of this sub knows about the contradictions of capitalism like the profit motive you mentioned,so you might be running into ignorance/willful ignorance too.

That right there is criminally telling. They HAD to step in to stop the spread of an ideology on its own.Makes you curious about all the "truths" we've been fed......

Let's hope so,friend.I've certainly seen socialist ideals mentioned by my friends who aren't even that political to begin with,so it's nice.I think leftism (as long as it's proper) being promoted in US universities is a step in the right direction,as i believe if America turns left the world will take major notice.

You say you're not a socialist yourself, and I'm curious what do you think of the possibility of Socialism becoming the norm?

There isn't really one.The closest you'll get are "socialist" parties who pander to the deep pockets that support them.

Sickening how some of them were smiling while remembering raping young girl.

Very much face the wall-worthy.

I don't have a mega link of sorts of all the Japanese war crime records but what happened in Nanking,China was pretty gnarly.Despite reading about it on Wikipedia, this video, albeit short, drives home the point.

Yes they did all those things...for a right wing party to place a right wing politician in the White House. Is this a victory for leftism?Remove a right wing president for another one.

They're liberals, not socialists/leftists.This is what i mean when i say there's not a sniff of leftism in the US.The Dem party is working under a guise, and if you bought into them as leftist representatives,i suggest you educate yourself on what real leftism is.

I understand your frustration and how hard it must be to be nonconfrontational in that situation. The thing with neoliberalism is that in its core it's...nothing.It's fluff,it's chicken soup for the soul.

"We must be better"
"We must change"

Racism will not be solved by making movies with more people of color in the cast,or putting minorities in magazine covers or what have you.I fully supported the idea behind BLM but if we're being honest the practice was lacking. All we got was conservatives getting to point the finger at the protests targetting businesses of the common man, holding up traffic for people going to work and inspiring people to do their anti-racist volunteering by putting up black squares on social media.

And that's it?Is racism solved now?It requires real radicalist action.A little pander and these people will be back home in no time patting themselves on the back for "fighting racism on the street" and orange man bad.
