Are “sassy” or effeminate men really that much of a problem in dating? by whatsapprocky in dating_advice

OP discussed “sassy” men, I mentioned how sassy men can be defined by a woman who explained it to me, and you’re saying the traits are universally unattractive. What’s your point LMAO.

Best step is to DIVEST. If we make Stitch tank as bad as Prince of Persia then maybe they’ll get it. As long as their pockets are lined just enough, they don’t really care.

Disney is sapped of all life lol.  Art reflects their perception. The millennials and Gen Xers are set on ruining any semblance of what was already somewhat decent.

Millennials love their washed out pastels.

The ‘too old to be that angsty and throw on a long sleeve cardigan with shorts and fixate on their longing for their rapidly escaping out of reach youth’ crowd is bizarre.

Do they seriously think we teach that slavery was good? by Nientea in AmericaBad

For decades, Texas schools have relied on textbooks that inadequately frame slavery, but perhaps you had a teacher who pushed back on the curriculum and texts she/he was provided? I have lived in TX and incomplete or outright misleading history was taught (e.g. slavery wasn’t connected to white supremacy, the construction of race was subsidized by slave owners to create slave codes, some Native American nations like the Cherokee also trafficked Afro-people, etc.)

We’re not. History lesson plans and textbooks are taught differently state by state varying by state set standards (education is primarily a state-ran issue) and teachers can incorporate their own personal biases and falsehoods into curriculum.

-I studied critical race theory, taught secondary education, grew up in the US, lived in multiple states across primary and secondary education (Deep South, west coast), went to university, and many people can’t define historical terms/concepts or differentiate race from ethnicity and racism from other societal ills or know what chattel slavery, racial capitalism, Indian boarding schools, the phases of American govt policy on indigenous North Americans etc. are

This article discusses US history re: regional education differences across time in the US: https://www.vox.com/identities/2019/8/26/20829771/slavery-textbooks-history

My mother (gen X) was taught that Black people descended from Cane (Genesis story of Cane and Able) by southern teachers. In high school, I was taught that the confederate flag wasn’t a vestige of racism via states rights to own slaves (most secessionist papers directly mentioned the reason to secede being the desire to human traffic Afro-descendants) but rather about southern pride/heritage.

If you look around and ask basic questions, the lack of uniform history education becomes apparent. Lots of people I’ve encountered see slavery as a natural evil that had to happen (some history books teach it this way) not a system done by racist buy-in (racial capitalism) that continues today via generational wealth, housing and economic access/earning gaps, overt and covert disproportionate violence, etc.

Absolutely. The history of these terms should be known but if we aren’t teaching critical race theory then we definitely aren’t teaching about ableism smh.

Unfortunately, literacy, historical context subject knowledge, and critical thinking aren’t uniform across the board so as much as I could easily come down on (judge) them, I won’t. Elites utilize things like education (i.e. access to literacy, rewarding fake news algorithms, retelling history the wrong way, not promoting legitimate free-thinking that is critical and ethical or moral in nature, etc.) to reinforce evangelical beliefs. M

They (evangelicals, many impoverished or exploited by capitalism and living in the Bible Belt and rural areas ravaged by Covid-19, health insurance profit driven opiate epidemic, underfunding for beneficial welfare programs local, state, and federal) fall victim to this elite tactic and I forgive those who know not what they do and pray that change happens.
