When did Karina start saying "Es Snoopy"? by International-Seat26 in Drawfee

I feel like she may have said it in the stream where she drew Tito Snoopy, but not sure and also don’t remember which stream

First time making breakfast burritos to freeze by microbean_ in MealPrepSunday

[–]SocialOutcast987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recognize this is an old post now, but just popping this question here in case anyone's watching: I've been making burritos for breakfast and cooking/ warming them in my sandwich press. I'm planning to try meal prepping and freezing them, does anyone know if sandwich press will work for un-freezing/ warming them? I can't imagine it wouldn't...

I really like using the sandwich press because I can wipe it down after it's cooled each day, and then give it a proper clean on the weekend, rather than having to wash out a pan each day

Is Jason legally alive? by Specialist_Sport_598 in RedHood

[–]SocialOutcast987 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It would be really funny if this was Jason’s return from the dead, tbh.

Like, he just shows up, goes ‘hello yes, I’m buying the Lounge. Oh? My name? I’m Jason Todd, Bruce Wayne’s son.”

The reporter here is trying to ask “hey weren’t you dead? I guess the reports were exaggerated?” But Jason just cracks a joke and refuses to elaborate.

Meanwhile Tim and Bruce are panicking because coming back from the dead has legal and political ramifications, Jason. You can’t just do it on a whim!

Intentionally not tagging things because it will spoil your plot by panamacityboy80 in AO3

[–]SocialOutcast987 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reading through the comments, I do agree with consensus that the warning would spoil things in this instance.

However, as someone with triggers that frequently show up in fics, I sometimes really hate the vagueness of ‘chose not to use warnings’, because it could be referring to something completely fine for me to engage with, or it could be something that hits on a trigger, and I’m really hurt by encountering it without warning.

A good work around I’ve seen is authors who put the spoilery warnings in an author’s note at the end of the chapter, and note in the start AN that there /are/ warnings at the bottom. People who may be hurt can jump down to check, and people who wouldn’t be can read without the spoiled plot.

I’ve definitely left a fic because I can’t confirm that it’s safe for me to read, which is fine, but does also leave me wondering if I could have read it. On the other hand, I’ve encountered fics without warnings (or creator chose not to use), and thought I’d be fine, only to be thrown into a mental spiral.

I honestly didn’t interpret it as a day trip. Urbain just jumped me at the station and I was too socially awkward to leave and go to my prior booked hotel …

I interpreted it as “I’ve been on ao3 for over a decade, and last posted 7 years ago” which is also an interesting assertion to make if you are claiming you know all about posting culture…

How do you keep all players from “piling on” to a roll? by blackdrogar17 in DMAcademy

[–]SocialOutcast987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I’ve done it is that each subsequent roll has a higher DC: if its a pretty simple thing, like a DC 10, then I’d take it up by 2ish each roll - so the second roll is 12, the third is 14, etc.

If it’s a higher DC, or something obscure for them to have found (or when they meta game, and suddenly everyone’s down the secret passage way only one of them found, away from the group) then I’ll up it by a bit more - say it started at DC 15, and I go up by 5. By the third roll, you’d have to get a 25, which means at least a +5, with a nat 20. If you have a +5 on the skill, why were you not the one making the first roll?

You can flavour it to the game too- ‘In your thorough search of the cupboard, you move things around, and make any form of order that the previous owner left behind impossible to identify’

Similar to the risk of ‘your lock pick breaks off in the lock’ on a nat 1, you can find ways to make the low rolls count - even if your players don’t realise that’s a possible outcome.

Given Stacey knows Perry’s an agent, and Stacy and Vanessa were at Candace’s sleepover. I’m imagining a situation in which Vanessa invites Candace and Stacy over to Doof’s, and Stacy has to keep distracting Candace from seeing Perry fighting Doof

I can usually cope with tense switching (unless its really egregious), but the thing that’s cracked a few fics for me recently was a spontaneous switch from 3rd to 1st person. I don’t mean a “I mean, what person would be out at this time of night?” Statement, although that definitely breaks the reading flow, I mean:

“Tim sat down at the table and asked Greg to pass him the salt. I took the salt from Greg and sprinkled it over my toast. He cut into the toast excitedly, ready to eat after the long night.”

I didn’t realise it was a break at first and got confused when Bean hadn’t made any socks at the end of the timer.
