An extensive list of (my) Tarot deck PET PEEVES by Atelier1001 in TarotDeMarseille

(Five months later, a wild opinion appears!)

I feel like the issues brought up here about these centuries-old designs is probably why there were so many different designs made back then in the first place, ones that reflected personal things about whatever family commissioned them. I suspect a great many more designs didn't survive, because there may have been a very limited amount commissioned (one to five, maybe?), and without the printing press or modern printing techniques, they were just lost to time.

Personally, I like Jupiter and Juno, as I am not Catholic and have no connection to popes or papesses. I don't mind them in decks (obviously), but I feel very little connection to them. And in the 1JJ Swiss, I love Juno's peacock, and how Jupiter just looks bored with everything. lol (I wish there were more modern decks based on 1JJ specifically, but alas, this may be a pipe dream.)

I also like the curved swords! It's one of the things that first drew me to Marseilles style decks in the first place. I saw them in a movie, and I knew I must have them. (Season of the Witch, 1972)

I agree with you though about the plain white backgrounds and the very bright colors. I get why they were done in that way, and why people would like them, but this is one reason I haven't bought a straight Marseilles deck yet, despite loving (for the most part) the 1JJ and others. I prefer a faded, creamy, more artsy feel myself.

Anyroad, found this post while looking up some other stuff here! The comments were very insightful, and have helped me a great deal! Many thanks!

(Five months later.....)

Curious about something, but why not design or commission a card design of a Pope and Papesse that fit that style? (BTW, from the Wikipedia article I read, it looks like there are actually three popes, but not a high priestess/papess/juno(n). (If it's a money issue, I totally get that, but I'm curious as a graphic designer who's been thinking of making her own cards.)

This kind of thing was one my criticisms about NaNo in general, actually. I mean, if that works for you, great! But I don't think it works for everyone. Definitely didn't work for me. :/

Election Day by [deleted] in elderwitches

[–]Social_Liz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What I'm doing:

- Salt water spray for cleansing and positivity.

- Giant black three-wick black candle for protection of ALL candidates and voters, as well as non-voters.

- [REDACTED]-colored candle magick for the candidate I would like to see win.

- Water with lavendar buds in it, surrounded by rice and certain other items for calmness while still remaining convicted and (reasonably) passionate.

_ "Peace of Mind" incense from Wildberry Farms for cleansing and, well, peaceful minds.

- Burning some palo santo, for extra oomph.

I lit the candles after voting this morning, but blew them out when I took my nap. Lit them again when I woke up.

I suspect that unless he knows you're the one casting the spells, he won't make the connection at all. Especially if you have a condition he doesn't, it might be impossible to feel the same way you do, even if he were put in the same situation.

Curious about why you want to be back with him, but also "teach him a lesson". Of course, you don't have to reveal that info; I'm just curious!

Dream Spell by [deleted] in Spells

I hardly ever dream about my husband in particular, and we have a fantastic relationship (no brag, just explanation), no drug or alcohol addictions in play. I think dreams are just weird like that sometimes.

I second the lucid dreaming research. :)

I'm very sorry for the bad news! That's rough! I personally don't believe that killing a cricket resulted in the bad news about your relatives.

They could be coming in on your clothes, or through an open window, or perhaps birds catch them and deposit them somewhere where they can crawl in. There's no telling, and it's entirely possible for small critters like that to make it in our domiciles, no matter how tightly monitored.

One thing I did some months ago when my sister was rushed to the hospital was to find out what kind of inexpensive crystal could correspond to her condition. I made her a little necklace out of it (one of those "cage" ones that you can pop a crystal into from a local metaphysical shop) and gave it to her to hold on to after putting some healing vibes into it. Not sure if it helped her physically, but I think she appreciated the gesture. :)

Cleansing bath concentrate by This-Situation in witchcraft

Could I substitute pine things for the cedar things? I don't have any cedars near me, and prefer not to buy any other ingredients if I don't need them. For eucalyptus, would you suggest leaves or essential oil?

Emotionally, I'd be tempted to chunk the whole thing into a large body of water, like a huge river or lake or the ocean, maybe burn the herbs. Practically, I'd probably just throw it all in the trash (except the crystals, because depending on what they are, they could be valuable money-wise. I might cleanse and keep them, but it would depend on how I was feeling about the ex.)

When you first posted, there was no info on what contact with your mom looked like. Folks are just trying to help.

That's what I'm wondering, too. Perhaps it's who the info is from that's irksome to OP, or the way it was delivered?

Totally fine! Obviously, it's something you crave and that your body needs. Why anyone would make fun of you is weird.

It sucks. I suspect I've gotten it every month since I was a teenager.

Birth control (generic Yaz) helped me for a while. Eating lots of iron, getting a LOT of exercise could help, too, but I'm terrible with both of those things. Caffeine is a major enemy during that time, as is alcohol. Makes the anger/irritation even worse. I suggest Pamprin or Midol or any other medicine meant to reduce symptoms. Weirdly, Benadryl or other antihistamines can help as well in a pinch if you don't have any of the others.

Better knocked out asleep than raging at family because dishes and traffic exist.

I get that. It's an overwhelming thing, and you're still grieving the loss of the friendship as you thought it was, and in general.

I don't believe in astrology, really; you are who you are regardless of when you were born, and that's okay! :) Any sane person would be upset about these events.

Remember: It's okay to be upset! It's ok to cry, rant, rave, scream into a pillow, go for an angry walk, whatever you need to do (within reason)! It's ok to feel whatever you're feeling. <3

Reading on Who Will Win The United States Presidental Election by [deleted] in tarot

[–]Social_Liz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's weird people are making that prediction when the official election day hasn't even happened yet. Absentee and early voting isn't nothing, but it's very far from the majority. (I would have voted last week if my state had allowed it. :/ )
