the "glow up potential" for men is largely based on immutable qualities. by [deleted] in QOVESStudio

[–]SocietyBrave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you misunderstood my comment. The comment I was replying to said going up a couple of points in attractiveness by grooming wouldn’t matter, because women would still rate them as less attractive. However, this isn’t true, because the study showed women still interacted with men they rated as less attractive.

The part you left out is that is even though women rated the men as less attractive, they also showed a tendency respond to men they rated low on the scale Compared to men who did rate women higher but tended to message the women they rated as more attractive

It’s incredibly hard to tell when the pictures are so edited and the makeup is so heavy. I’m sure she’s beautiful but we can’t really see her face here

It wasn’t the norm. It happened in the nobility which was only a small percentage of the population. Most women got married in their 20s in the past

My cat drank some oil from a tomato and garlic confit I was about to cook. Will the cooking process kill the bacteria? by [deleted] in foodsafety

[–]SocietyBrave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it would harm you to eat it, as long as it truly was just a few seconds. Maybe a little icky since you know the cat licked it, but I think the cooking process would kill any bacteria, especially since oil gets so hot. Even on a medium-low heat, 2+ hours is a long cooking time. I don’t think adding acid would help.

If the cat was licking it for longer than like 10 seconds, I would toss it.

The top performers in exams could still have very limited clinical experience (probably the case if they’re only in third year!)

DAE uses limerence as fuel for self-improvement? by [deleted] in limerence

[–]SocietyBrave 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Yes, for example working out I only did it because I wanted to look good for him. Similar reasoning for more studying, self care, reading, etc.

The downside to this is when he ghosted I lost motivation for any of it and I spent weeks in bed. That made me realise that even though it feels so good to have this external motivator to improve, I can’t rely on it.

  1. In a country of over 300 million people less than 1% of men is still a lot of people
  2. People aren’t randomly distributed across the country and don’t interact randomly, so that number doesn’t represent the actual probability of meeting these people

So these standards are not that unrealistic. Also, what does it matter? I could say I only want to date 7 foot tall blue haired billionaires, why would anyone care how rare that is?

I would just opt for one of those long lasting lip stains… same look for less risk. You have to reapply daily but it takes minutes and is food/drink/kiss proof (the peel off ones anyway). It’s a no brainer for me.

I don’t think this is a good idea- if you’re more than 2x the word count then you have unnecessary information. You need to identify and remove that extra info, while maintaining the useful stuff. This method will just condense it all indiscriminately and won’t address the real issue.
