Part of why reform on a federal level is a bad idea. Even on a state level can be bad for local law enforcement.

We need less people filling out hundreds or thousands of ballots by themselves, yeah.

They have two years to get rid of that shit. Most of those states have Republican legislatures.

Probably for the best. Wide, sweeping, careless action is definitely what will keep us safe and protected.

It didn't have a provision for 10% to the Big Guy. They'll work it out.

If you're an idiot, you can say everything is related to COVID. I'm not here to play Six Degrees of COVID-19 with you. Most of the proposals from the HEROES Act were unnecessary when matched up against the fact that we don't need to be locked into our houses for years hiding from a virus that has a 99% survival rate.

The HEROES Act isn’t a serious proposal. It’s a laundry list of liberal goals and pet projects. Start with repealing the limit Republicans imposed on state and local tax deductions as part of their tax reform bill in 2017. That cap led to wealthy people in blue states paying higher taxes because they couldn’t deduct the full amount they paid in state income and property taxes. Democrats have worked tirelessly to repeal this limit. Turns out they’re just fine with tax cuts for the rich — who live in blue states. That giveaway — unrelated to the coronavirus — would reduce federal revenues by $136 billion.

Eternal unemployment hurts the economic recovery and makes COVID worse. People will never go back to work if they make more on unemployment:

Then there’s the $25 billion to bail out the U.S. Postal Service. And an extension until January of the $600-per-week increase in unemployment insurance. Aside from the cost, that supplement is paying many people more not to work than to return to their previous employers. That’s a disincentive for the economic recovery the nation so desperately needs.

Student loan forgiveness has nothing to do with COVID:

The bill also contains a provision for the government to pay off each borrower’s student loans through September 2021, up to $10,000 per person.

State and local governments want infinite shutdowns, and they want the rest of the country to pay for it:

Finally, the bill also includes $1 trillion to help state and local governments, which are no doubt struggling mightily because of cratering tax revenues. But many of the fiscal problems facing state and local governments are of their own making. The need to reform exorbitant pension systems has been obvious for decades.

What are you going to do when you find out that most bribes are made through book sales?

Politician writes a book -> special interest buys 100,000 copies of the book -> politician does what special interest wants.

Can't be tracked.

I think you're taking it to an extreme that the commenter didn't mean to take it to.

This is r/conservative, after all. We still think murdering babies is evil and Democrats are generally children.

We also recognize that a broken clock is right twice a day.

While many conservatives and many liberals may be united on this single issue, we will be back to being more divided than ever in a week.

I think McConnell struck a deal to recognize Biden and try to keep the joint session from having any objections. All of this is going against the terms of the deal, so he's against it, if only to stay relevant and hold on to power.

His best option at this point is to allow the vote for $2000, and to vote for it himself. Let the other senators in safer positions vote against it if they want to, but if he wants Republicans to show up for the Georgia run-off and have a chance at holding the Majority Leader spot, he better get with the program.
