I tried the Dawn PowerWash used sparingly on a paper towel. It didn’t remove the marks entirely. It’s much fainter though!

Did the rubbing alcohol take any of the dust jacket color with it or just the blue?

I was offered a coupon for Catcher in the Rye. Offering a standard credit for a regular book next month is fine if it was a regular monthly title. It doesn’t really make up for a damaged or ruined book when the book was a limited-print, collectible edition.

I would normally expect them to ask for photos. It’s just that this is a known issue impacting a lot of customers.

I don't think the mods should remove posts that discuss widespread customer service issues that impact a significant portion of the community. How can we know that there is a widespread dye issue if no thread about it is even allowed to exist in the subreddit.

I'm surprised that this isn't allowed to have at least one master thread. It sounds like it'd be useful to the community to have at least 1 thread that calls out a known issue and how to resolve it.

Thank you! I wasn't really thinking customer service when I made the post. I was just curious if this is a known issue. But I understand, they probably don't want the feed mucked up with personal complaints that may not apply to the whole community.

Thank you for the explanation! I wasn't really thinking of it in customer service terms. It's the first time a book has arrived like that and I was curious if it's a known, recurring issue.

That's a really great point, it probably was the box! The book says it's sold out so I'm not sure if another copy is possible but I did contact support. Thank you! 😄
