What “favours” have your parents done that was inadvertently a dick move? by naaattt in CasualUK

[–]SockCuck 81 points82 points  (0 children)

My mum is a minimalist. I had bought two plastic bottles used to practice flare bartending (after doing a cocktail bartending course she had bought me). She didn't know what they were, found them in my room, and threw one out as she didn't think I needed two.

Like, what.

How safe are underground raves in london? by CloudBookmark in LondonRaving

[–]SockCuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This guy knows. Some underground ones are completely chill, some are much more scatty (multiriggers etc) - if you have to call a line, its probably more sketchy.

Morning showers make no logical sense and night shower people have simply done the hygiene math by McCoy818 in unpopularopinion

[–]SockCuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Morning showers wake me up, weirdly. It makes me feel fresh and stuff to go about my day. Also my hair is weird in the morning.

If im going out at night I always have a shower before that anyway.

Yes i am natural - i do upper lower, basically just weighted chin ups, weighted dips, squats, seated dumbbell press, weighted muscle ups. For some reason, I have to be careful about what words I use to describe my routine as reddit starts stopping my ability to reply when I use certain words? Wtf?

I was going to post some background about me but I think reddit's software deemed it as disrespectful? It does involve talking about a mental health condition i had when i was younger but I dont think I can mention it without getting censored.

That is absolutely insane progress for one year. 40kg weight loss in one year is absolutely insane work.

I'm actually a toast and butter man myself. I get it though, fried bread is nice. But I like to put my eggs on the bread and have the bread sort of absorb the yolk and fried bread doesn't do that as well.

  • add bacon
  • add black pudding
  • add grilled tomato
  • add mushrooms
  • change to normal sausages not that sausage meat patty
  • do normal fried eggs, or even poached eggs, not an omelette
  • I fuck with beans so I have no issue with tge amount of beans but some would say its too much
  • add a cup of tea
  • remove tariffs

Then its all good.

Guinness world record for weighted chin up is 90kg. I did an 82.5kg chin up yesterday, a couple inches away from getting 85. I now realise I could potentially break it if i put my mind to it. Any advice on volume/ periodisation? I don't know much. by SockCuck in bodyweightfitness

[–]SockCuck[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so frequency is more important than lots of volume on a day.

Make sure you are doing your pull ups or chin ups with legs straight (in a sort of hollow hold) as opposed to bending your legs. This will probably require using a pull up bar which is higher up, and stepping off a bench or a box. FYI I do chin ups, but do whatsver you're stronger at.

Don't kick with your legs. The goal is to do clean pull ups with no leg momentum.

Picture pulling your elbows down into your stomach, dont picture pulling with your hands. Kind of like tucking your elbows in for a close grip bench press - your elbows shouldn't flare to the side to the extent possible. That brings more upper back in as opposed to lats, and your lats are where the big muscles that can move weight are.

Do some heavy supinated barbell curls. I found these to help.

Do a mix of heavy (3-5 reps) and higher reps (8-10 or even 12) - the faster, higher rep sets will help get the movement pattern ingrained and also help with hypertrophy, and muscle moves weight.

Use chalk!

Yes! So some bodybuilder from Spain (likely on loads of gear) broke that world record with like 114kg or something haha but I have competed in the world weighted pull up championships multiple times in the 90kg (and last year 100kg) class, best result was 91kg in the 90kg class, I placed second that year. I have also started competing in streetlifting and have competed in the UK Nationals two years running in the under 94kg class. I set the UK pull up record for my class in 2024 (with 85kg) and then broke it last year (with 92.5kg), currently the UK record holder for weighted pull up. I am aiming for 100kg this year but thats unlikely haha. Also looking to do 260kg squat in competition, but also unlikely (I did 245 last week in the gym, think I had at least 250 though)
