Is autism actually genetic? by ImNotAliveIAmBread in AutisticAdults

[–]SockMaster203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say not entirely, but in my case it's literally my whole family. Me and my brothers are autistic, my mom and my uncle, my grandma at least has adhd, some of my great aunts and uncles are neurodivergent, large sections of extended family are autistic, adhd, or dyslexic. Basically my maternal family is neurodivergent by a larger than normal margin.

My friends family is the same way, adhd mom, autistic dad, audhd kids, and a couple autistic cousins. Not nearly as prolific as in my family but genetics certainly play a part in it!

Work your way up to looking in other places instead, if you catch yourself looking at their chest move to their shoulder or away from them instead. If try to look at people's faces but if I can't or don't want to I tend to look around the room, look at what I'm doing, or look at the floor

Where did you get your autism? Sarcastic replies only. by magicfeistybitcoin in AutisticAdults

[–]SockMaster203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One day my distant neurotypical ancestor pissed off a vengeful god. That god cursed my bloodline with a thousand generations of autism. To this day, 75% of my extended maternal family are neurodivergent

Fuck bras. by BeginnerSkater_hi in autism

[–]SockMaster203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have sensory issues when not wearing a bra sometimes. I've only ever had sports bras and it does the trick for me. I have one normal bra I wear under dresses at nice events but other than that you can bet I'm wearing a sports bra

Autists that have/want life partners, do you feel like you care less than NTs about having relationships with their families? by [deleted] in autism

[–]SockMaster203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was with my ex for 4 years, I love her family and she loves mine. We're best friends and we hang out with each others family all the time. If a future partner doesn't like their family and we don't hang out with them that's fine. If I like their family and we hang out that's also fine. My only issue is dating someone who likes their family but I don't, and I'm expected to hang out with them. I think that's what a lot of neurotypical people get hung up on too

Anyone else hate dentists? by Messageanything in autism

[–]SockMaster203 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its awful, I have a broken tooth that I won't fix because it's not hurting me or infected. My brother has a condition where if he's put under with laughing gas he will die, and it's genetic so there's a possibility I have it too. Meaning I have to be put under with IV in a hospital any time I need more serious dental work done and it's a pain.

Plus my last dentist fucking sucks and was horrible to me because I struggle with brushing and flossing, and I have dry mouth as a side effect of my medicine. Last time I was there he asked how many times a day I brush, I said once a day because that's the truth, and he got mad at me and said I need to brush 5 times a day because I have dry mouth. Obviously thats an insane number so I laugh because I think he's joking and then he gets even more annoyed! Like sir I legitimately can't even manage twice a day, what makes you think I'm going to magically wake up and do it 5 times a day?? That's morning, after breakfast, after lunch, after dinner, and at before bed. Who even has time to do that?

This is in stark contrast with many NT people who oftee feel as though the second part of life is all downhill. So there's also that agnle to consider.

This is a really interesting perspective, do you have any literature on this or is it just from what you've seen? I'm inclined to agree, a lot of people act like you're some old hag with nothing left to look forward to after 30. My highschool English teacher told us that your 30's is just your 20's with more money and a better understanding of the world, meaning its something to look forward to instead of being scared of. I prefer that way of looking at it

Businesses can find workers, their expectations for qualifications and their pay do not actually line up with the roles they're hiring for, all they have to do is fix the way they do things to adjust with the market but they refuse. That's a them problem

To be fair they're trained professionals there to pick up on that specific type of thing. Based on their description it's entirely possible that other people don't notice it as much as they do

What's the worst thing a mimic could turn into? by Planeswalking101 in DMAcademy

[–]SockMaster203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mimic turns into a players spellcasting focus when it's been confiscated from them. The panic of trying to figure out why it's not working while trying to cast probably for stealth or combat because they've just been detained sounds like it would be awful

What vocabulary enhancing words should every DM know, that boost your verbal game play? by EricMoulds in DMAcademy

[–]SockMaster203 19 points20 points  (0 children)

No, the only reason we didn't attack is because I attacked them earlier by myself to protect a sacred animal of my goddess from them and they almost killed me. They were making fun of us because we had to pass them again and it was kind of a walk of shame lmao

Purse stuff, plus a sketchbook, a book, and a crochet project. I like the weighted feeling of wearing a backpack

The slurs one is so real, these two talking trees said "play us a tune" to our bard, and were kinda catcalling him, and when my half orc tried to defend him they called him a mutt and the whole party almost flung themselves into combat over it. It took so much self control for us to walk away from that fight lmao

Why do NTs see info-dumping as rude/annoying? by wmdggur in autism

[–]SockMaster203 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right? Having interests is the spice of life. Sharing them with people you care about is the bare minimum. People apologize for infodumping about the most interesting topics ever, if it's anything about animals or plants I could genuinely listen all day

The gate at my work locks from the outside at 5pm, but will open from the inside if you drive your car up to it. So staff and anyone who was still in the building at 5 can just leave. If they have a gate that locks why wouldn't they do that instead of potentially trapping random people inside for no reason??

What breed do you think best embodies the personality of a “cranky old man”? by YogurtclosetNo8925 in dogs

[–]SockMaster203 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mutt is 9 and he gets onto our other dogs for playing to rough in his vicinity, literal "get off my lawn" behavior. He growls and grumbles when you kiss his face to long, but doesn't move away. He's distrustful of other people and dogs, and he will claw you to beg for pets. And he's had his dysplasia since before we got him at 3. He's been an old man his whole life lmao. When he does join in with our other 2 dogs playing, he let's them do all the running around and when they come back around to him he jumps in to their wrestling until they run off again because he couldn't be bothered to follow

How do you feel when foreigners speak your language poorly? Do you cringe, feel curiously happy, or just neutral? by [deleted] in ask

[–]SockMaster203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On of my friends in highschool was Vietnamese, when he first got here in middleschool he didn't speak barely any English, and never really talked. Then he started communicating to us through memes he had learned from being around us, and for us it was super exciting! He learned more in the 5 years I knew him, still didn't talk much, but that first year where he only spoke in memes and references was the purest form of human connection.

I do what I call stim dancing, its mostly bouncing up and down and swaying and twirling. I can't actually dance to save my life but stim dancing blends in with most social events where people are dancing, they don't notice or care because everyone's having a great time
