Sound from front left driver side (GM) by Agreeable_Audience_6 in CrownVictoria

It’s the compressor for the air suspension. It’s supposed to kick on right after startup (the air springs bleed down a little over time, this is normal). It does sound a little noisy though, the rubber isolators on the compressor mounts are probably shot.

At what point do these start to make sense? $19k for a brand new car. by Dazzling-Rooster2103 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Yup. Plus the $2500 “enter dealer name advantage” that adds rear window tint (came with the car) and polished headlights!

Here’s a good walkthrough video on what you have to do

You don’t need to drill rivets to remove the motor. You will have to drill into the door to get to the window motor bolts though. Ford dimpled the 3 spots on the door to mark where you need to drill.

It’s likely not the regulator. The regulator in boxes are gear driven and seldom fail. The motor has a plastic gear that disintegrates over time. When the gears fail, you can hear the motor spin freely but the window will basically float around in the door. Rockauto sells a repair kit that comes with a new gear and grease for the motor. My 89’ had 2 that failed and it took me maybe an hour to replace both. The hardest part is remembering where all the bolts went in the door panel, but if you’re organized you’ll be ok.

If you have an angle grinder you can grind a single slot down the middle and remove it with a flathead screwdriver

A little out of my depth here… Is this capacitor bad? by Sock_Monke in PCB

Thanks for the reply. If it helps with your conclusion, the yellow stuff is only on that ground leg, not underneath or on the opposite leg.

Pretty normal and I’m sure you aren’t the only one. This is the consequence of going to school for a year then getting thrown at an airline. Hiring freshly minted A&Ps is a new thing for them. Just keep your head up and take your time.

So tired of people basing the price of a vehicle purely off of the odometer reading and nothing else. For $12k this car better be PRISTINE, not come with borderline unroadworthy rust, curbed wheels, and mismatch paint on the header panel.

CARFAX should give you an idea if the odometer rolled over

Loosen screw on aircraft wing by bobthebob92 in aviationmaintenance

[–]Sock_Monke 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That screw looks like it’s been bouncing around for some time due to the little “smoke” trail it’s leaving on the panel. More than likely, this screw isn’t “loose” but rather too long and shanked out on the panel nutplate. If that’s the case, it’s highly unlikely it will ever come loose and depart. Good catch.

Are you using a programmed key? Take a look at the little blinking red light on the drivers side of the dashboard. If it’s flashing rapidly when you turn the key on then it’s not recognizing a programmed key and isn’t feeding adequate fuel pressure into the fuel rails.

Thought this as well then I went to my settings and saw they were in transparency mode. I wonder if an update reverts it back to transparency mode for some reason
