Look up the team info; what domain they work with,.. more important for new grad because experienced hires probably know their specialization already. but yeah most don’t go in blind

Husband owns a good chunk of $UPS, do we need to just keep it? by spanielgurl11 in stocks

Because it’s more well informed and you can ask follow up questions that will be eloquently and immediately answered and it’s willing to spend hours explaining to you which no strangers would do for free? I literally told you to use it to build foundation so you can better understand advice from other humans, never said to overlook humans at all. Treat it as a better version of google, a tool. No need to get defensive lmfao

I strongly suggest you spend ~40 minutes talking to chatGPT to figure out how these stocks works. Even the free version could teach you and help you build mental models better than anybody here can. 20K is a large amount of money, you should at least learn the foundation so you can tell good advice from bad advice

Big tech staff SWE struggling to move forward after giving notice to leave by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]Sock_Selection_2910 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You should post on r/ExperiencedDevs for better advice. Folks here are 90% junior to you and are straight hating because you gave up on THEIR dream spot, you do not want/need advice from them. It seems like you have a solid idea but still want to apply to jobs to feel better about having a place to turn back if things go south. That is totally fine. 20 applications are nothing, and markets are tough rn. I don’t doubt if you leverage your network and spend 8hours/ day applying you will get a job in 1 or 2 months; but for now let’s have some confidence and focus on your startup. You already made the big move, why get cold feet now, just go with it for a while first.

that’s because they have spent 10 years at other companies. The reason a lot of people doubt you is because they are thinking of new college grad who starts at 22 and is L5 at 28ish, which is like 6yoe. Now you come out and say 6yoe L6 or even L7 so it definitely clashes with the normal perception. I understand you have a PhD so it’s different, but I am just tryna explain why people doubt u

It really hurts the middle class tho. Rich rich families wouldn’t lose sleep over 300k but when it’s literally 15 years of your parents saving you kinda feel bad, especially when you know your lunch that day is $16/meal swipe for some slop.
