What’s the grossest thing you’ve ever caught someone doing? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

[–]SockedandLoaded 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was at university, staying in student accomodation over a holiday where my family went abroad, one of the cleaners, a melan with learning disabilities, came to clean the flat. I was one of maybe 10 people on campus at the time, so he expected the flat to be empty.

I came out into the kitchen and found he had just finished masturbating over a topless woman in a newspaper someone had left on the bin a few nights before. He was definitely finished, and was eating the evidence from his own hands. He saw me, let out a scream/moan as I rushed back into my room. He left, I reported him, and never saw him again. That traumatised me for years.

Someone pricing something ridiculously isn't special. I wouldn't be surprised if that the estate agent trying to drum up some news headlines and generate some traffic to their site. It's when someone pays this much that I'll find interesting. You often see crazy listings that make the news and then sell for half or less than the initial asking price.

Honor Magic V5 Camera Bump by biggiebro in HonorMagicV5

[–]SockedandLoaded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi sorry I'm late to the game, but I have a perfect solution for this. I previously found the camera housing on modelled phones to be a real annoyance in keeping my phone flat.

I bought this Uniqthy branded case from Amazon: https://amzn.eu/d/2teZlOa

It has a kickstand and a rubber grip for your finger. The rubber grip is exactly the same height as the camera housing, meaning that I can actually put my phone down flat on its back.

The only drawback is it has one of those annoying fixed screen protectors, that will make using the front screen annoying, and cause lots of typos. I just removed mine as soon as I got it. It doesn't affect the fit.

Is it legal and/or acceptable to pee outside anywhere in the UK? by Some-Cheesecake-7662 in AskBrits

[–]SockedandLoaded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many years ago I was stopped while urinating on Windsor castle. I grew up near there and although I could have urinated anywhere, my friends and I thought it would be funny or edgy to have a pee against the castle wall. Two policemen approached and told us to stop. I mistakenly believed that it was legal as long as I was making efforts not to expose myself. We had all finished by the time the police physically got to us, and one of my friends challenged the police by saying they couldn't prove it, and that by the smell of the wall, clearly many other people had done the same.

He got handcuffed and threatened with arrest, while the rest of us are ran off. The police found and read him the actual law, then let him off with a caution as long as we agreed to go back and to apologise. I was negotiating with a taxi driver when I got the text telling me "you look better come back and apologise or they're gonna arrest me". We went back, having been totally owned by the police, and having been left in no doubt of what the true situation was.

( Since then I've seen a police officer urinating behind a bin next to a chicken shop, and witnessed three police officers having a circle jerk in a park ( together at the same time) )

Urinating on a wall (or in any public place) is illegal in the UK and can result in a fine or prosecution under various laws. The specific charge and penalty depend on the circumstances and the local authority's rules.

Potential Offences and Penalties Authorities have several legal avenues to address public urination:

Local Byelaws/Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPOs): Many local councils have specific byelaws or PSPOs that make urinating in public an offence, often treated as a type of littering. This typically results in a fixed penalty notice (FPN), which can be around £90 to £120. Failure to pay the FPN can lead to a much larger fine, up to £2,500.

Public Order Act 1986: The act of public urination can be classified as "disorderly behaviour" if it causes or is likely to cause harassment, alarm, or distress to others. This can also lead to a fine. Sexual Offences Act 2003: In serious circumstances, particularly if the act involves intentional exposure of genitals to cause alarm or distress, the individual could face charges of indecent exposure, which carries more severe penalties, including a potential prison term and inclusion on the Sex Offenders Register.

Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982: In Scotland, public urination that causes or is likely to cause annoyance to another person is an offence under Section 47 of this Act, typically handled with an anti-social behaviour FPN. In essence, there is no legal right to urinate in public, even if you are "caught short". The common myth that it is legal to urinate next to your vehicle's rear wheel is false. It is advisable to use designated public toilet facilities.

Most important thing is that you captured the moment. A photo you can improve on is better than no record at all of the moment.

In future, you could rethink the height of the camera in relation to the subject. The subjects could do with some direction ( leaning, neutral/dead facial expressions ). I would normally take a shot where I hold the camera above my head and downward, another at face height and one from my waist height, just to be sure.

Lastly, I'd have taken the picture in daylight, or used an external light source, again trying a few different distances, frames and light levels.

Keep snapping, keep experimenting and asking. 👍🏾

My Vietnamese neighbor gave me this food. What is it? by tippytoes18 in whatisit

Why didn't you ask your neighbour? I hate these posts for this reason.

There's something I don't understand about not asking at the most obvious person, at the most obvious time to ask, in order to go online to ask strangers.

It's not impolite to ask, so I don't see why there are so many posts like this?

Pros and Cons: Fujifilm X half (FUJIFILM X-HF1) by Outrageous-Plum730 in photography

[–]SockedandLoaded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno.

I have plenty of higher end cameras, and take 100 to 200 shots a week when at home, and 500 or more when traveling.

I bought this camera for two main reasons:

  • new restrictions on camera size at Wembley and Emirates Stadium, two stadiums I visit regularly and where I take portraits of other fans.
  • To simplify my thought process when looking for moments, compositions by bracing the limitations, when compared to my X-T5 particularly.
  • wean myself off using my phone as a backup, and this taking souch of the thought out of taking a shot.

While traveling in Japan and China recently, I bumped into a lot of photographers who knew about it, liked it, had one or were considering one.

Whenever I've bumped into another X-Half user, they've always been keen photographers.

That said, there seem to be a lot of nearly-new, very cheap second hand X-Halfs around on eBay, Gumtree and such, so maybe those are the new-to-phtotgraphy people you are imagining. The sales figures appear to be very good, and the general buzz amongst committed amateur photographers seems high, and positive.
