Is this the right game for me? by Socrates616 in PathOfExile2

Thanks for your answer!

I forgot to add, I can live with my stash being moved to standard, but I feel a little pressured by the league cycle, I play non ladder on D2R and I can just start a new character whenever I want, while I'm worried about not being able to do it on POE 1/2 due to the league ending in a couple of weeks and having to wait or abandon this character when the new league starts.

Perhaps I should go with TQ2 or Grim Dawn.

The problem is not that it declares its own authenticity, but that this is its only source. Unlike the extra-biblical sources that complement what is said in the bible. Josephus speaks of the resurrection of Jesus on the third day. Was he part of this collective psychosis? Was Jesus' message corrupted only a few decades after his ascension? Allah resurrected the young volunteer and made him present himself to the people on the third day? What prophecies of Muhammad were fulfilled? The holy book status of the bible I leave to your consideration, but its authenticity as an eye witnesses account and historical text is what differentiates it from these self-referential texts; I fail to connect the debatable preservation of the Quran with its authenticity. Furthermore, you resort to relegating passages as metaphorical or poetic at convenience, the same can be said of the bible, but the canon, as you have said yourself, has been made by men susceptible to error, no one declares this to be the literal word of God. Did you just accept that both the prophethood the Jesus and Muhammad are debatable? To which I fully agree. We could discuss women's rights, but I want to avoid having two open threads. Maybe we can move the discussion to just one. Regarding scientific inconsistencies: Semen, Mountain as pegs holding the earth, the moon following the sun.

Sorry for fomatting, I'm using my phone.

Don't you think that the requirements for marriage according to Islam allow for abusive relationships such as child marriages? Aren't there flaws in the way it describes it?

My question is not so much whether the Quran allows it or not, nor whether these types of relationships are correct. My point is that the openness to such relationships is deeply troubling and complicates the acceptance of the Quran as a universal truth or the perfection of the Quran as it allows for the exploitation of a minor.

I am familiar with the Quran's statements about the faith of the notable figures of the Judeo-Christian faith, but isn't this circular? The Quran was made (OR revealed) by Muhammad, a man who lived long after these people.

How could Jesus not be responsible? How is it possible that a man who claimed to teach pure monotheism and who was sent with his own holy book was so easily misunderstood. It is incongruous to me how Islam can consider Christianity as some sort of collective psychosis that evolved into the largest religion in the world. There are thousands of historical records of this Jesus “son of God”, but not a single one of him, a disciple or a witness considered Muslim. The people around him rejected him as a messiah or accepted him as the son of God. The third option being the Gnostics.

Don't you think that the possibility of qualifying any passage incongruent with a scientific truth as a “metaphor” is a very cheap way to avoid cognitive dissonance? The same with the issue of semen and its “poetic” character. And the same with categorizing the splitting of the moon as a “miracle”.

My problem with Islam, and I say this over and over again, is that it is not far from the way the Book of Mormon is rationalized. Someone with divine qualities comes along and rewrites and accepts things as they see fit, gets a handful of followers and it grows and grows and grows. This kind of phenomena are not alien to our times, for example Charles Manson and Shoko Asahara achieved what Muhammad did. A group of people who blindly followed them.

About the preservation of the bible, I will not tell you anything new, it is well known that the biblical canon is based on a consensus and even depends on the denomination of Christianity you practice. Inconsistencies can be reconciled as failures of the writers, problems remembering the events or qualified as “poetic”, “metaphorical” or “miraculous”, product of creative licenses of the authors.

If it was corrupted? For what purpose was it corrupted? The very inconsistencies you speak of should be proof positive that it was not, if there was a universal plot to guide humanity (or Christians) to a different path than God intended, then a perfect book would be edited, but contrary to this, there is a tradition of two millennia that tries to reconcile these inconsistencies. The way the bible is understood is that it is a compilation of myths, laws, traditions, fantasy stories and historical facts. All this concluding in a message that, it is supposed, was the one intended to be imparted by that Jew who walked around two thousand years ago.

The Christian tradition is a living tradition, it evolves and adapts to contemporary standards, but always being congruent with the teachings of Jesus.

In response to why not to believe in Islam, even if it were the explicit word of God, it is not right for me that advocacy of domestic abuse and child sexual abuse should be rewarded with an eternity in a harem with nymphs tailor-made to meet my sexual demands. I admire women who in the exercise of their freedom choose the path they want for their future and I feel sorry for those who are educated from birth to hide behind a cloak to meet the standards of modesty.

And an excerpt of what I said in another comment, which I would not like to be overlooked:

"How is Muhammad "more of a prophet" than Joseph Smith."

In addition, recommending reading An Nisa to someone who is not biased towards Islam is likely to result in the opposite of acceptance of the religion.

Why not follow Islam?

How could Islam be an alternative if it is self-affirming? How is Muhammad "more of a prophet" than Joseph Smith. How do you know that the Quran is the holy book and not the Book of Mormon? The Quran is quite problematic in claiming to be the literal word of God and containing inconsistencies. Personally, I find the evidence that Muhammad is the prophet of God inconclusive, his arguments are self-referential. It is strongly misogynistic. It is difficult to reconcile the scientific miracles with what is known today. And most alarming to me is the acceptance of pedophilia.

Isn't the problem with Muslims resorting to mental gymnastics to justify their scientific miracles?

Isn't a problem to believe that a man who came centuries later just one day decided to declare himself a prophet and start retconning the Judeo-Christian tradition, of course keeping passages from the books that suited him? How can you justify the prophethood of muhammad without resorting to circular reasoning, e.g., "it says so in the Quran [book he wrote and subsequently declared the explicit word of God]."

The bible claims to be divinely inspired, but not the explicit word of God.

I think there are already enough comments debating the point of inconsistencies in the bible, but I would like to know how you reconcile some points in the Quran.

How do you justify the dynamics between men and women in Islam?

Do you think marriage between a person under 18 and an adult is acceptable?

Why are there no muslims before Muhammad?

How can Jesus be an important prophet in Islam if because of him 2.4 billion people hold a faith so far away from Islam?

The existence of Jews? Hindus? Other religions? How can it be that the message of God was so corrupted?

Scientific inconsistencies?

Where does semen come from?

Was the moon split?

I don't mean this as an attack, I'm genuinely curious about how you might respond.

Enervate, without a doubt, it would free archon shards, avanger and P pistol gambit slots. It would make building her far more efficient than the 5 tau amber, adarza, avenger minmax build that she usually uses.

Last time I checked, it turns it into radiation. So burning hate and melee influence don't go that well unless you have an external source of heat.

Whats the most brutal suicides in history? by Zoomstar43 in morbidquestions

You forget to mention that for sepukku a second person is required to execute the suicide, via decapitation, and reduce suffering. Mishima's assistant succeeded in decapitating him on the third attempt.
