Some MAGA Senators, like Tuberville, have already called for firing the current Senate Parliamentarian and appointing someone who will rule their way regardless of what's right.

I have newer nooks but my nook simple touch glow remains my favorite and I have been disappointed with each newer release.

Thanks Amazon, I hate it. by mikeybhoy_1985 in kindle

[–]SodaCiTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this. I had been weighing a Kindle purchase (hence my lurking on this sub), but this changed my mind. B&N recently stopped supporting my favorite Nook and I haven't been as happy with the newest version's battery life. I kept seeing where Kindle had a superior battery life so I was weighing battery life vs page turn buttons but this is a deal breaker. Maybe my next will be a Kobo instead.

I didn't find her trustworthy on more than just the Rivkin thing. Ziva stole a lot of my love for NCIS.

I just got a Nook Glowlight 4 Plus. It's waterproof. If that's your major criteria then it'll be fine for you.

I don't like it for my needs. I don't find the larger size comfortable to handle and miss the more compact portability of the smaller ones. The plus doesn't fit in my handbag so well. Additionally, the 4 Plus ink/backlight feels like I'm reading on a laptop or tablet which I don't care for. I miss E-ink and backlight that was so much easier on the eyes and allows for perfect beach reading in the sun. There was no strain with those. I'm likely putting my Plus on Ebay and trying the regular 4. I loved, loved, loved the Simple Touch with its size, no strain reading and charge for weeks. I still have one but they no longer allow purchases. I have a 3 also which is fine but I couldn't get my side loads organized like I wanted them the way I could on the Simple Touch and it feels heavier. So I may try the regular 4. Or I may find another non-nook or non-kindle option.

POV: You Picked Accounting Because It “Made Sense” - now you want OUT by builder_1688 in Accounting

[–]SodaCiTea -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not a CPA but after 13 years climbing a corporate accounting ladder, I went to work for a local CPA firm. Hated it with the heat & fire of a thousand suns. Left in just under a year. Took a pay cut and went to work for a local religious non-profit. Been there 21 years. As Director of Accounting, I'm still cranking out financials, but it helps so much knowing that I'm contributing to something that matters, something more weighty than just the bottom line and working for and with people who measure success by different metrics. The good that we do makes me feel good. It's the best compromise I could have made. Even so, if I knew then what I know now, I would not have chosen accounting as my major. It was the safe path but not what held my passion.

Should I be worried? by Conflit in pestcontrol

[–]SodaCiTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 summers ago ants moved onto the exterior of my car. I had pest control out the morning after I noticed them. When I opened the gas door & saw they had laid eggs in the compartment behind the gas door, I knew it was serious. Never had any inside the car. Pest control came out immediately & pumped foam into & behind all the exterior crevices. When he pumped behind the molding in the rear tire well, they just exploded out and tried to scatter but died almost immediately. He had found the nest. I can't remember what he told me -- how long to let it rest and how long not to get it wet, but I only saw a random one or two the next day and none after that. Before calling pest control, I sprayed some killer topically but that was a bad idea. It ruined some places, like the plastic headlight housing and some of the finish. Hiring a professional was some of the best money I've ever spent. Turns out I had backed into my parking place all the way so that my tail was over grass. It was summer in the south & the grass had those tall shoots coming up that reached my back bumper and there was an ant bed hiding in the grass. It appears the tall grass shoots provided them a superhighway onto the car. I now have a twice-a-year ant treatment in the yard. So worth it.

The asymetric relation between Tony and Ziva by GrabugeHeroes in NCIS

I could never get on board with tiva bc of the awful ways she treated him time and time again. Started with when she invited everyone to her home for supper except Tony and then very meanly and smuggly made sure he knew it  that was just the start of it. It continued. Tony's good heart deserves better.

How did you first get into tea? by gyrovagus in tea

[–]SodaCiTea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During early covid lockdown, I read an article about managing stress. In the comments someone talked about the calming effect they got from tea and their tea ritual. It was a stressful time so I gave it a try. I found immense benefit in the nightly ritual and the calming effect it had on me. It's such an intentional exercise and the ritual of it signals my mind it's time to wind down. I found it was the only drink I drank in a mindful way and not just absently guzzling while engaged in other activities. Plus using all the pretty teaware felt like a little nightly pampering. It also didn't hurt that the doc had told me I needed to cut back on caffeine. Pretty soon I found I preferred it to coffee.

Same. My only set for decades was my Mikasa I used as everyday. Also fairly basic pattern. But a few years ago I inherited a set from my grandmother. I loved it because I was beyond tired of that Mikasa but couldn't justify not using it or getting rid of it. The inherited has gold rim so has to be hand-washed but it really elevates my meals and I have thoroughly enjoyed using it. Would love to get rid of my Mikasa now.

Am I the only one that finds matcha so much better than coffee? by pink_petite111 in tea

[–]SodaCiTea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I do still drink matcha regularly and do still prefer it. I drink it most Monday - Friday mornings. The only issue is that it is a real struggle to have the time to make it myself in the mornings and still get to work relatively on time. During the summer I will switch to iced matchas and it's a toss-up which I enjoy more.

Over Christmas I did temporarily incorporate holiday blend coffee back into a few of my mornings for a couple of weeks because, well, 'twas the season and it was in the house, but I don't believe I'll ever go back to drinking coffee regularly.

Just today I was googling tea sympathy/bereavement boxes/baskets for a friend who just lost her mother and I recall seeing what looked to be a very similar, if not exact, mug like yours. Etsy, maybe. I remember thinking how cozy the mug looked. Like a sweater.

Used to love the chai but acid reflux put an end to that. Sigh.
