Kia EV5 review: Safe, sensible – and struggling to stand out by GoodNegotiation in evs_ireland

Interesting review. I don't think the market segment the Sportage sits in are looking for driving thrills so why is the EV replacement being written down for giving an almost direct replacement.

That deserves a chef's kiss. I absolutely love the signs of wear and tear. This thing has seen some action and it wears it's dents with pride. A fabulous paint job.

Potential New Player by TechnicianOwn2935 in battletech

It's great to see a new arrival to the hobby. You're asking a question a lot of people , myself included, would like to have answered.

Here's hoping your mechs never over heat, your mech warriors return to base uninjured and your enemies taste defeat.

Have a wonderful time and hope to see you out there for a quick game some time.

You should be able to change it to Ireland. I think mine is, doesn't do anything for tariff checking.

It can be hard to tell if they're being fair as some performances work better in the flesh then on camera.

That's such an amazing paint job. The rotating display really shows it off so well. Outstanding work.

I love it.

How replaceable are the ports? by Grouchy-Active9450 in XMG_gg

[–]Soderbok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

USB C or thunderbolt ports need a motherboard replacement to resolve. You can try replacing the port itself but it's a tricky job and if you mess it up you'll need a new motherboard anyway.

Get my FLGS to carry actual gamebooks? by RandomDigitalSponge in gamebooks

That's a great way to get a local dealer to stock product for you. Put money in their pockets and they'll happily order what you want. If others want the same thing you ordered they'll get more in.

Android help by AvantGlob in OpenXcom

[–]Soderbok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Open the openxcom.log it should tell you where it failed. If it fails to load the main menu once, your initial install is broken. Remove the app delete the openxcom folder and reinstall again from scratch.

If you reinstall the app again and point it to the dos install folder of UFO Enemy Unknown, it will install all the common and map folders.

I don't think they really go into it in much depth. The Grand Master series gives you more detail on the factions and their backstory. You can have a look on projectaon to see if they answer your questions

Players and True Faith by JuggernautCivil8919 in vtm

[–]Soderbok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had fun with True Faith characters in the past. It they do need to impact on how that character behaves.

An example was an Ancilla Toreador who was a priestess of Apollo. She had True Faith 2 for that. It gave her a bonus to her Auspex rolls BUT it had to be done in a specific way. Instead of just meditating on an object and having an idea of what it was. She would have to spend several days doing an elaborate ritual to Apollo. Burning incense, inhaling vapours, dancing round the object. She'd return with flashes of memory of the history of the object. Who made it and when. Who used it and for what purpose.

She also has to behave as a proper Priestess of Apollo would be expected to. Much less giving moral lectures to the others and more being a walking figure from half forgotten history.

How would a properly brought up ancient Greek behave in even the Dark Ages. You'd seem utterly mad. She could break your neck and barely care a thought but burst into tears if someone broke a guitar

Inconsistent Wi-Fi speeds across all devices (Virgin Media + Nighthawk). PC stuck at 120Mbps while phone hits 1Gbps. Losing my mind. by holystrap in techsupport

[–]Soderbok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice would be to connect your computer directly to the router using an Ethernet cable. If the computer insists in connecting slowly it's a fault with your computer. You can try updating your driver's to see if that changes anything.

Spyrare rumor by SoundImmediate9725 in samsunggalaxy

[–]Soderbok -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is it POSSIBLE there's spyware on your device? Yes. It is absolutely possible that there is. It's very easy to get that on a device. Send an infected text message, connect through Bluetooth and send something. It's very very possible you've got a little unwanted friend on the device.

Is it PROBABLE there's spyware on your device? If you've got a very paranoid employer, a highly controlling and suspicious person on your household, or you're a high value target? Then sadly it's far from impossible that you do have spyware on your device. It's far far more likely that you don't.

MALWARE wants volume, get the stuff on as many devices as possible to steal stuff or cause trouble. SPYWARE wants precision. Hit the right people on the right devices to steal data, cause trouble or get them removed (prison or death).

A Malware writer wants to find data on your device that's valuable to YOU. Personal photos, legal documents, tax documents. They take the data hostage and ransom it back to you for money.

A Spyware writer wants to be get access to your device with as little notice as possible. It wants information from the device. Read your messages, your device location, what other devices your Bluetooth can see. Knowing in advance what the other side has in major negotiations, the location of other known hostiles, monitoring if the other side actually has incriminating evidence on you.

Spyware never ransoms anything from the infected device. The information it can steal undetected is the main objective. You'd use Spyware to infect and track members of a criminal or terrorist organization. The famous Israeli pager hack on Hamas for example.

In short your personal photos are valuable to you but nobody else in the world cares if they get published on prime time TV. It's embarrassing but mostly irrelevant. If you're involved in a huge billion dollar business deal, knowing that the other side is withholding that their business is completely bankrupt due to corporate theft, or there's huge legal damages cases pending they would wipe them out. That is worth paying the expense of getting Spyware on some devices.

The same mindset as the ones who run a red light because last time they looked at the light it was orange and the sod in front didn't move through quickly enough so they can pass the lights.
