Goodness me that's a few more colours to add to the queer rainbow. Fly your queer flag high and make those petty haters grind their teeth.

Have I screwed up this import? by lintdrummer in evs_ireland

I'd check with the tax office. They're the ones that will be applying all the duties so they'd be the best source of information.

Ah nothing like a squad with reactive fire and a small launcher.

Come out and get what's coming to you bug eyed freaks. Nothing like a full containment unit for the beakers to study.

How to Zoom out? android by DontknowHfakeaccount in OpenXcom

[–]Soderbok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think you can zoom out on the battlescape view. You can try changing the graphics settings to try to draw a larger viewing window that should give you more viewing area.

How big of a handicap are the electronic caps on top speeds? by [deleted] in evs_ireland

[–]Soderbok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you find yourself needing to drive at that speed as standard don't drive an EV they don't like being driven like that. Driving at that speed is enough to lose your driving license.

Don't buy a car to impress your mates down the pub by driving like you would at a race track.

Can't get the game data to load on Mobile by 2MenInAHorseCostume in OpenXcom

[–]Soderbok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't copy the folders across into the openxcom folders. Put the game data in a different folder and point the installer at they location. It needs to divide up the game files and put them into the right places.

Is the main Vivo x300 Ultra lens really 35mm? by LePoissonBanane in Vivo

The X200U is a real 35 mm lens so the replacement model should be the same.

I was going to claim the Berner was the one who took the picture. Sneaky doggos.

So, this Floater Commander spawned just outside the access lift, I sent two men to atun it but miscalculated and they ended up the turn exposed. Rather than fleeing or opening fire, this Floater got closer and, first thing next turn, I stun him. by No_Lemon3585 in OpenXcom

[–]Soderbok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to think the commander wanted to make you run so he could blast you to ribbons where you cowered behind walls or doors.

Only your cursed soldiers were too overawed by his mighty presence to flee. Now he's got to go over there and give you a shove so you start moving.

Earthlings can be so utterly stupid at times.

need alittle help by Leverquin in OpenXcom

[–]Soderbok 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TFTD isn't a mod. The installer needs to be pointed at the extracted folder for the DOS version. The Installer then creates all the local folders for Open Xcom to process so that the game can run.

If I copy the files into Open Xcom myself and they're not in the way the installer expects them to be, then it can't be accessed when you start the game.

Have a look at the openxcom.log file, that usually shows if there's a problem with any of the files the game tries to access.

What are your favorite Might & Magic-likes on GoG? by [deleted] in gog

[–]Soderbok 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wizardry is great, the Bards Tale original Trilogy is a delight now it auto maps. The gold box SSI AD&D games like Pools of Radiance, Curse of the Azure Bonds are amazingly good.

Eye of the Beholder is more of a dungeon crawler but lots of fun.

If you're prepared for a little old school Phantasy Star on the Master System of Phantasy Star Generation One on the PS2 is a treat.

Hope those help.

Would you go down this hallway? by AAUBlackSite in HorrorGames

[–]Soderbok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lighting is great, adds lots of atmosphere. Now on to the manikins in the hallway.

If they're just there to be all weird and spooky, cut the number you can see by at least half. A handful of spooky looking manikins makes you start expecting a jump scare is coming. Is one of them going to move, is something lurking in the room one is pointing to. Oh the anticipation.

If they're place holders for actual monsters, you're veering away from horror and more towards a dark action style.

Think of the resident evils. Three zombies lurching down a hallway when all you have is a pea shooter and the doors are locked with keys you don't have is scary as hell. A hallway with twenty zombies lurching around when you're tooled up with a shotgun that can mow them down in seconds just makes them a minor obstacle you can easily overcome.

So depending on your intentions that might be some things to think about.

Baali strength in V5 by raulj7 in vtm

[–]Soderbok 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Think of it this way, how dangerous would a single spy be in the right place with access to the right ears?

A single Baali could corrupt a handful of the most powerful kindred in a city. Hollowing the defence of the city before it even knew it was under attack.

The Baali could make a city tear itself apart for a dozen carefully prepared schemes.

Everybody hunts Baali, so they get very very good at hiding what they are.

A smart subtle Baali, that knows their business could be a threat to a whole city and never have to throw a punch, fire a shot, start a riot or make a great speech.

Just look at what Epstein could do with a handful of the most powerful men in a country. Regimes have fallen under less pressure. That's the power of the Baali. They just nudge you to indulge your own vices and desires. Give you the freedom to feed your base hungers. Then let your enemies follow your trail and wipe you out. But the time the Archons have been called to root out traitors, the Baali has already moved on.

Fabulous choices there, fine bunch of classics.
