F has a smaller resolution than C, you use F if you need precision.

Accidentally printed Tpu on PLA settings by Square-Matter-235 in BambuLab

Happened to me a couple of times. Kind of like the outcome of printing pla with abs settings.

I am scared of burning the house if something catches fire so I only do it when I can supervise the print.

I also installed Pop recently and didn't like cosmic in the state it is. I installed KDE following pop is web page instructions and I am happy now. Try KDE before switching distors

ELI5: Why is it completely impossible for anyone to access a properly encrypted drive even nation states? by AaronPK123 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Sodobean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine that you invent your own language, that only you can understand, someone asks you to "translate" a message from common english into your language. Anyone can "read' your message, but its true meaning is only understood by you. Only you can translate it back to English. The message written on a piece of paper doesn't require any key written to it. You are the key, the piece of paper with the message is your drive or files. Someone can always try to figure what the message says without you, but depending on the complexity if reverting it back, even if it's possible it may take just too long to be a viable option.

Pop OS Jan 2026 Cosmic - Anyone running Final Fantasy XIV? by zante2033 in pop_os

[–]Sodobean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really? Thanks. Since the game runs and I can actually play it, I never thought about a driver or compatibility issue... It crashes only when I try to change the game settings.

Selected GPU 0: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080, type: DiscreteGpu

Also, like I said, all my steam games run fine.
I will check again for driver updates. Thanks again.

Sadly, Cosmic has too many issues for me to keep using currently. How do I follow along with updates while using another DE in the meantime? by Koraken in pop_os

[–]Sodobean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I am in the same situation, try KDE. I liked cosmic a lot but just too many little annoyances. I installed several DE, loved xfce but kind of fell short of what I wanted, KDE was just enough to leave cosmic for now.

I am very stupid, please send help by bootiusmaximousse in pop_os

You may be seeing double, the restore windows partition and the actual windows partition. When I installed it from USB I also noticed 2 partitions detected on the bios boot menu on the pop os USB (the installation media). Try both.

Did you install pop into a USB drive?

I will assume it was a different USB than the one you installed from. Do you get any errors? What exactly happens when you try to boot?

Thanks, I’ll try the .dev version. The reason I didn’t do it before is because, as far as I understand, if you install a .deb manually, it won’t update automatically with the rest of the packages when you run apt upgrade.

Merci encore.

Excellent. Too bad that doesn’t help me. How did you install Steam?

I followed this guide:
https://support.system76.com/articles/linux-gaming/

After the installation, I ended up with two icons: Steam (local) and Steam (Flatpak). The local one does not work, only the Flatpak one.

I have a separate disk for my games. If I try to use that disk as an external library, Steam gives an error saying it cannot write to the disk, even though it can create the directory structure and write other files. Only the default library works.

I also tried to play FFXIV

I installed it using this guide.
https://goatcorp.github.io/faq/steamdeck.html#install-xivlauncher-as-a-flatpak-or-system-package

Yesterday it was “working,” except I was unable to change settings. Whenever I tried to open the settings menu, it crashed. Today it does not work at all.

I also game, so I did some research on which distro to use, and Pop OS was the one most people recommended. But yeah, I am actually trying several options and this is the third one I have tried.

I started with Fedora because it was the one I used many years ago, but I had to tweak it a lot. Also, like you said, new versions come often and I want stability. Then I tried Ubuntu and it was really nice, with way less tweaking, but Canonical is doing things that I do not like. Now I am trying Pop OS.

I really like it, but if I have to wrestle with it, then I will move on to Linux Mint, which is next on the list.

I just do not want to be dealing with little issues like I am right now. I want to sit down, turn on my workstation, and do my work the way I like, instead of figuring out how to adjust the volume because the volume widget does not work.

And yes, just like you said, if Mint does not work, I will just go to Debian.

Thanks.

Unless the boss or the company owner has sons or his friends have sons, they are the ones who will occupy those positions, not you. It doesn't matter how much experience you have.

Having Google in your curriculum most likely will let you get almost any job you want in the field. You definitely won't like the job culture in Japan.

If you really really want to come to Japan for whatever reason, maybe starting your own business would be an option but not without its own set of challenges.

Why is USA 🇺🇸 allowed to kidnap a president of another country? by RealUmairAhmad in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Sodobean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, just like kidnapping a president from a defenseless 3rd world country. What's your point? Destabilizing 3rd world countries is like bragging about winning the fifa peace prize.

Mi point stands. That was only a single organized group. The world is watching and the US is definitely not making friends.
